Dick Clark dead at 82

TMZ is reporting that famed TV producer, and “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” host Dick Clark has died at the age of 82 from an apparent massive heart attack.

There are few details surrounding his death at this time.

Clark suffered a stroke in 2004, forcing him to retire from hosting “New Years’ Rockin’ Eve.” Ryan Seacrest took over in 2006

My older sis absolutely loved Band Stand. (She even named her daughter after one of the regulars). When we rushed in, turned the TV she wanted BS. I wanted whatever was on the other channel. My parents tried to resolve the argument by switching off every other day. I resolved the problem by letting her do my chores in exchange for watching bandstand (Which I secretly loved).....

you missed the 50 and 60’s..you don't know ‘good living’ those ‘good old days’ are gone and you missed out...how sad.

Grew up with his show in the 50's & 60"s. Sad day! RIP Mr. Clark!

I remember him playing, and us doing, the "Mexican Hat Dance" with my grandmother when I was little. (Mid 50's) And, oh yeah, we all had our favorite couples/dancers.

70 and 80 were great times...

I became a mother in 72 and 75 my greatest accomplishments in this life.. yep great days...I adopted one and produced one...I've forgotten which is which...lol
both wonderful gifts.

I used to watch American Bandstand in the afternoon growing up in Philadelphia.

I was actually ON Bandstand while visiting my cousin in Philly in the early sixties. (I also remember attending an outdoor concert with Jack Benny and the Philadelphia Orchestra and seeing the Phillies play the Pirates at the old Connie Mack Stadium. On the drive back South, we heard that Marilyn Monroe had died. That seems like forever ago.)

An immense talent and gentleman to whom several generations of disc jockeys (myself among them) owe a debt of gratitude for setting the standard for entertainment coupled with civility. He almost single-handedly saved top-40 after Alan Freed and the payola scandals. RIP, Dick...the world's oldest teenager.
