A PASSENGER had to be restrained on a flight from Perth to Melbourne this morning.
A Qantas spokesman confirmed cabin crew restrained the male passenger on flight QF648.
Australian Federal Police boarded the plane when it landed in Melbourne at 6am and removed the man.
The Qantas spokesman could not confirm why the man had to be restrained.
But a passenger on the plane, Rob, said the man made threats to staff and the pilot.
"They brought the guy up to the front of the plane and he actually woke me up and he said Im not bothering you am I?'. He yelled out and of course everybody woke up then," Rob told Triple M.
"I said 'well yeah you are would you like to go and sit down?' Then he attacked the guy that was standing beside him and then the hostess said, 'please help please help'.
"About four or five of us jumped up and had to hold him down and put these cable ties on his hands behind his back."

Let us not describe the guy or the nature of his rants and threats.
I’m guessing Muslim. Otherwise they’d have mentioned it.
I imagine we’ll have to wait to find out whether the offender was of the muslim “persuasion”.
I’m guessing an Amish ranting, “Please pass the cider.”
That's certainly possible but from what I read (didn't click the link) it sounds more like "drunk and disorderly".Naturalman is in a better position than us to know how willing the Australian press and government officials are to divulge the national origin, etc of criminal suspects.
I am just not very trusting of the press
From what I have read on Australian conservative blogs, they are even worse. There is no alternative media from what I gather.
No alternative media? I think Murdoch's an Aussie and I'm pretty that he has a presence in the Australian media but I could be wrong on that. Also,I find it surprising that they don't have at least *one* Matt Drudge,Andrew Breitbart or Rush Limbaugh. But it's certainly possible that you're right. If you are it's pretty sad for such a great nation to be in that kind of situation.
No alternative TV and radio from what I hear.
I dunno about newspapers, but they all seem pretty lefty online.
“Melbourne bound fligh”
That must have been some fly....

Mark Steyn just made a trip down under for speaking engagements, etc. There’s definitely an audience for conservative thought.
Don't know if you're aware of this but Australia is famous (infamous, actually) for flies...at least in the Outback.I spent a few days in an Outback town years ago and the flies were *amazing*.Google "Aussie salute" and you'll get an idea of what I mean.
The Australian media will generally identify ethnicity if its relevant (and in a case like this, the fact somebody was possibly Moslem would be relevant) but carefully and only after they are sure - they won’t report rumours.
It depends what you mean by alternative media.
We do have some prominent, genuinely conservative, journalist writing for our major papers - Andrew Bolt, Miranda Devine, Piers Akerman. Our two largest circulation daily newspapers, the (Sydney) Daily Telegraph and the (Melbourne) Herald Sun, are sister papers and are generally conservative in outlook, as is the national from the same stable 'The Australian'. Andrew Bolt is a major part of a radio station called MTR which is generally conservative, he also has a weekly television show (the Bolt Report). And there are quite a lot of conservative blogs.
The TV stations tend more left than right - although that may be changing - but other media forms have a fair presence from the right.
Murdoch is politically a conservative but making money is far more important to him than politics. He makes donations based on which politicians are likely to lead to the bigger pay outs, and the politics in most of his media organs is based on what will sell the most papers or the most advertising time - nothing more. He’s all about the money.
