The government workers are acting like school kids who get stuck with an incompetent substitute teacher for the day. The incompetent criminals at the top of government set the tone for everybody else.

I looked at the link blam posted at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2873842/posts?page=24#24

and was reading some of the comments, and I was struck by the same thing you mentioned. I’ve noticed this so many times when I look at comments on public sites, it seems so many of the younger generation have no love or respect for America at all any more. They have bought into and believed what they have been taught in public school, that America is evil, is corrupt etc.

America’s ideals have been erased or redefined into the opposite. We don’t seem to have a common civic memory and language to discuss what is happening to the country and government. That is the goal of cultural cleansers and how they weaken, collapse and take over a Nation.

If conservatives don’t address this issue in the universities and public schools, it won’t matter who wins in Novemeber, because every election cycle will reflect this “cultural cleansing” of traditional American values and we’ll spin further and further down the drain.

My personal feeling is that the unity and morality of America stemmed from true Christianity and from sound doctrine preached from pulpits. It is not easy to be duped by corrupt evil statist politicians when a people are filled with sound Biblical wisdom and striving to live godly and pure lives. There have always been evil people attracted to power, but America was solid and fairly immune as long as her God was the one True God. Pray for reformation and for the PASTORS of America to repent and again begin teaching and preaching the true word of God rather than seeking to have the best “super fun rock band church” as Ann Barnhardt calls it.

Wheels were made in China, not the US.

There has always been chaos and corruption, but we are now aware of it — thanks to the “alternative” media. Can you imagine how much worse things would be if all our news still came from the “major media” players? We’ve come a long way, baby! Thank God for Drudge, Free Republic and a host of others!

What amazes me most is the incredible patience shown by American patriots. Here we have (once again) a “long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object” and yet nobody has been strung up from the nearest lamp post. No tar-and-feathering incidents!

Incredible patience. I wonder how much longer it will last.

sbMKE is right ... it really is a powderkeg out here.

I can tell ya why. Because most of us are still relatively comfortable in what we have. Yes, we have the vote, we have a voice, but those don’t really “cost” us anything yet, until we start losing our money, belongings, lives, etc. To begin to seriously consider force or rejection of government authority is a major turning point, which means that we personally and physically have been “pushed” beyond our tolerance by this evil around us. We have this forum to espouse our views and gather to support one another, but when push comes to shove, when they come, for whatever perceived reason, there needs to be feet on the ground as a unified front who will act collectively to help one another - the time for words will be over. For each of us, the trigger for that moment may be different. So then how do I determine it is time to risk all that I have to help my neighbor? I hope that it is an obvious and national event that occurs. Many of us talk of being “prepared”, but once the authority of the government is resisted, no matter how corrupt it is, those resisting need to be ready to lose it all—life, liberty, and property, because at least one of those will likely be taken.

This is true. But also we have a secular form of western civilization culture built upon Judeo/Christian ethics and truth and our unique American ideology of freedom. It is what informed our elite on right and wrong outside the church and temple walls. Communists mocked it as our American civic religion and knew they had to cleanse it out of politics, education, and business to “progress.” They did it through the abuse of the myth of “separation of church and state” which is naming ethical behavior and thought “religion”. They falsely named our ideology of freedom - racism and sexism - and replaced it with socialism in the name of civil rights.

It does seem odd to go to Drudge and not see a sullen picture of Newt on top above an embarrassing headline or a silly picture of Santorum in odd clothing with links to embarrassing quotes he said six years ago. Also strange not to see a couple of little headlines beneath with quotes from the Romney camp defending him on some huge Romney gaffe that happened that day that Drudge didn’t cover.

Your falling into the “we’re doomed, things are out of control!” mindset. There is always scandals going on. The government has been corrupt forever (and to some extent, always will be). There will always be outrages to fill the news cycle. If there aren’t some obvious ones, the media will go find them. It is a big country and a big world, things that would infuriate you are happening all the time. The only difference now is we see almost every news event instantly - and we see stuff now we’d never have even known about before.

That's funny, this is the standard ploy of Romney supporters for telling everyone they have to vote for Romney, even if he is a lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal.

/yawn

My point had nothing to do with voting, Willard, Hussein, Newt, or anything else to do with the election.

The point was simply that people always think times are crazier, more chaotic or more out of control now than in the past, and the truth is that is very rarely the case. Crazy, corrupt, terrible, amazing, etc, stuff happens all the time - always has, always will. Get some perspective.
