Chilling video has surfaced of the moment a Texas cop responding to an emergency call at the wrong address shot and killed a man's beloved dog.
The officer’s police cruiser dashboard camera captured the event, which happens out of view.

Austin cop Thomas Griffin is heard shouting "Get your dog!" barely a second before firing a single fatal shot at Michael Paxton's Blue Heeler, Cisco, on Saturday afternoon.
"What are you doing? What did you shoot my dog for," Paxton is heared yelling hysterically. "I live here!"
"Oh my God, I can't believe you just killed my dog," he says. "I need to get him to the vet. What are you doing here?"
Griffin explains to Paxton he's been called about a disturbance. However, as it turned out, he was at the wrong house.

The war began years ago and they routinely kill civilians (as they call us) during no-knock raids at the wrong address just like this one. They kill our children, wives, dogs, and even cats.
And they almost always get away with it.
He drew on an innocent person as well. Others said the police car’s equipment caught the LEO lying about the events.
Drawing on the wrong person is unlawful use of a weapon, LEO or not. That lands you in jail. The guy would have been within his rights to fire back in self defense. Mistake or deliberate.
Get real dude. I read about a dog shooting at least 3 times a week here on FR. Its an epidemic. Its standard procedure and they never get in trouble for it.
Then there are the no-knock raids where they kill unarmed people at the wrong address and not doing anything wrong. And that happens a couple times a month.
I no longer trust cops and want nothing to do with any of them.

The breed is a “heeler”, not a “healer”. I’ve never seen one that was an M.D.

I wonder what would happen if a cop shot a dog not knowing it belonged to another cop.
I deal with suburban cops, they’re the ones who are smart enough to get out of the fight. The city cops are the ones who are not so smart. I’d bet the percentage of beat cops using steroids in high tension urban neighborhoods is way above the 25% from the SOURCE YOU REQUESTED, and probably a lot higher than the 40% previously stated. These cops are not there protecting me, they are there, in the time bomb neighborhoods, FOR A FIGHT.
It's a CATTLE dog, bred to annoy, not cripple. At worst his trousers might get ripped.
Just killing the competition. Cops know that dogs actually understand what “To Serve and Protect” means.

I’ll second that. I’d like to know what is standard police doctrine regarding a dog in or on the premises of a private residence to which a police officer has been summoned or dispatched. It appears, rightly or wrongly, that “first take down the dog” is SOP.
I suspect it is the “take out the dog first” training that the LEOs get when they put on their ninja uniforms and play Jack Boot.
I am all for the same laws applying to cops shooting citizens dogs as it is for citizens shooting Cop’s dogs.

You know, if I wanted to come up with some police policy that would rapidly and completely undermine any trust the public feels for law enforcement, it would be the reflexive and remorseless shooting of family dogs.
Because this is obviously what they are trained to do and supported in doing by department policy.
What I want to know is who is instituting such policies?
Good thing it was not his 3 year old child waving a plastic bat.
