Feminist group renews campaign to silence Limbaugh
Daily Caller ^ | 4/19/2012 | Carolyn May

The National Organization for Women (NOW) is attempting, once again, to do what no other group has been able to accomplish — get radio giant Rush Limbaugh off the air.

On Thursday, the women’s advocacy group announced a renewed protest campaign —”Enough Rush” — to bring Limbaugh down.

“He is going to be whining and calling us out about his First Amendment rights” Terry O’Neill, president of NOW, told The Daily Caller about how she expects Limbaugh to react to their campaign. “There is nothing in the Constitution that says Rush Limbaugh gets $38 million a year for being on a radio show.”

The group, which Limbaugh often jokingly refers to as the NAGs (“National Organization of Gals”), is rallying their chapters for a day of protest on May 18th.

Brian Glicklich, Limbaugh’s spokesman, told TheDC that his audience will not be driven away by the group’s efforts.

“Every organization that has tried to censor Rush Limbaugh has failed because his audience won’t stand for being told by agenda-driven activists what speech is acceptable,” Glicklich explained. “NOW has been attempting to silence ideas they dislike for a long time; this is nothing new, and has no more integrity or honesty today than ever.”

While Limbaugh has weathered many campaigns to silence him, NOW hopes to accomplish the thus-far Sisyphean task by bringing their frustrations to local stations and advertisers.

“Different chapters are going to be doing different things. You might see some chapters picketing a local radio station,” O’Neill said. “But I think mostly what the chapters are doing is finding the local advertisers that advertise at the local level during the Rush Limbaugh Show and urging them to think twice about where they put their money.”

Glicklich noted that NOW is using the campaign to raise money.

“It’s instructive and telling that NOW added a ‘donate’ button to their website to ‘support their campaign,’” Glicklich pointed out, adding that “they have a store, too. Selling T-shirts.”

Indeed, many other campaigns against Limbaugh have failed, but O’Neill believes NOW’s effort has the potential for success, especially in the wake of Limbaugh’s comments about Georgetown Law student and contraception advocate Sandra Fluke.

“He spent three days not only attacking [Fluke] personally, but doing so in a way that was actually threatening,” O’Neill explained. “When he demanded to see video tape of her having sex, that crosses the line into fantasizing about pornography and violence. So this latest is very different.

“Now he says he has weathered the storm and we’ll just have to see if he is right. I don’t think he has,” she added. “I think it is definitely a long-term project but his brand of hate, I think, A) Has finally gone too far and B) I think the American people are really just not interested in that anymore.”

Limbaugh has apologized for his comments about Fluke.

O’Neill added that she expects push back from Limbaugh on his show

It seems that since the "Fluck" attack bombed, the radcal left NOW group wants a second swing at Rush for being a market success. I'm really not sure they want to pick this fight at this time (election year), but the left is pulling out all the stops to get Odumbo re-elected because it will seal thei ideology.

If this election weren't so serious we might find time to laugh over the old sex student flucking her way through $3,000 worth of contraceptive pills when she could buy them at Walmart for $314 for her three year course of study which must be 'How Sexuality Is Ingrained In Law Today.'

Man the N.A.G.S. are just going to get on that menstrual cycle and ride it to Rush’s house or till the wheels fall off.

Glicklich noted that NOW is using the campaign to raise money.
And that's the real reason for the protest.

The nag gang is unaware of how many advertisers are quite comfortable serving only a conservative market.

More than enough to keep Rush on the air.

They won't change any minds.Their efforts will,at most, strengthen the hatred that some have for Rush and will,at the same time, strengthen the respect that many others have for him.My mother always used to tell me “you're known by the company you keep”.The flip side of that statement is also true.I'd be proud proud to have the National Organization Of Lesbians as an enemy.I suspect Rush would be as well.

Yo, Terry O’Neill, Rush earns his 38 million a year. Where does NAG get their money?

Oh, donations. Yeah...

Terry O’Neill “There is nothing in the Constitution that says Rush Limbaugh gets $38 million a year for being on a radio show.”

Is Terry O Neal also against Bill Clinton exercising his 1st amendment rights while getting 200 grand per speech??

NOW? I can’t believe they are still around. I thought Patty Ireland drove that thing into the ditch during the Clinton years.

“There is nothing in the Constitution that says Rush Limbaugh gets $38 million a year for being on a radio show.” Uhh, I'm pretty sure he earns FAR more than that. If I remember correctly he recently signed a five year contract worth $400 million...and that's not even counting what he earns through his website, books, merchandise, two if by tea, commercial air time sales, etc. If I had to guess, I would say he earns at least $100 Million a year and that may be on the low side.

Their supposed main issue would be better served by voting Obama out of office as a result of his administration handing over $1.5B to the muslim brotherhood in Egypt. Else NOW has no credibility on womens rights.

Wow. They must have invested a lot of time on “the war on women” cause they just can’t stop themselves. This thing is long over. They must have lots of tee shirts, posters, and commercials that they don’t want going to waste.
