He had a homemade wooden tool box....

My dad had several of those. One for drills, one for screwdrivers, one for sockets, one for wrenches, one for knives .. the list could go on for a while. I remember having to clean the wood and metal shavings out of those with compressed air, and take the nozzle and make shrill whistles when placed between my fingers.

Yes. I was saddened when my mom gave that toolbox to my uncle after my dad died. My uncle sold the whole kit and kaboodle at an auction yard because he didn't really want it. I would have loved to have had that toolbox, but mom didn't even think of me. She gave me many other things that I couldn't use, but the tool box would have had greater meaning. I never told her how I felt, however.

It was something like this, but much nicer.
