The office of the Los Angeles County coroner has completed its investigation into the death of Andrew Breitbart on March 1, and has confirmed that he died of natural causes, namely heart failure.
Chief Coroner Investigator Craig Harvey told Breitbart News that the final autopsy report would be released next week.
A press release issued by the Department of Coroner (below) notes: "No prescription or illicit drugs were detected. The blood alcohol was .04%," a negligible amount.
The press release concludes: "No significant trauma was present and foul play is not suspected."

Thanks for explaining. I was thinking all this but was too lazy to type it all. (i work in cardiac surgery)
And it didn’t occur to me that it could have been the reporters language, not the coroner/pathologist.
Regardless,RIP Andrew Breitbart, you were terrific in
many ways.
My brother died at age 30 of a sudden, massive heart attack. His autopsy report read exactly as you described.
You just described my former son-in-law, who died about 5 years ago of a heart attack at the age of 33, leaving my daughter a widow and 3 children without a father.
She remarried a few months ago and my new son-in-law seems a decent sort.
Well, yeah. Elvis died of “heart failure” too. Course it was the massive DRUGS that led to the heart failure, but there ya go.
“Heart failure” seems to be a catch all phrase.
RIP, Andrew. You are certainly missed by right thinking people.
This thread is a memorial to Andrew Breitbart. Out of respect for him, let’s leave the medical advice to the professionals. Millions of people of all ages enjoy longer, healthier, and more productive lives thanks to the miracles of modern medicine.
If you have a medical problem, talk to your doctor. If you need medication, take it, for your sake and the sake of your family.
I’m sorry for the loss, but it is true. There is a small group of FReepers who are tinfoil crew. My friends dad died at 34 from a heart attack. Penn State starter. People try to make something out of nothing. It is sad. Look at Reggie Lewis and Hank Gathers. Sometimes people just die.
>>He really looked awful for his age.<<
No he didn’t. You’ve said this twice. Are you trying to convince us or yourself?
Rest in Peace, dear Andrew. You were an American original- a hero and patriot for the digital age.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Andrew’s wife, Susie, and his children, his parents, siblings, an in laws.
Andrew will definitely be missed.
So what about that big announcement he was going to make the next day?
I said it twice because it was true. I’m 37 and I look 28. Do you think I’m against you? Sometimes people die young.
I’m 51 and people think I’m in my 30s, but it doesn’t change that fact that you seem to have an agenda on this thread.
Breitbart looked fine at CPAC.
>>So what about that big announcement he was going to make the next day?<<
Funny how that didn’t come out after his death.
I have no idea. I’m not against you, but you have no proof. I thought he looked horrible for his age. If you think that makes me a troll, then fine. Point out anytime I’ve ever said any troll behavior. My friend’s father was a starter at Penn State. No drugs, dead at 34. How about Reggie Lewis...Hank Gathers? People die all the time. If you have any evidence...present it.
Right after he died, Glenn Beck made a nasty little remark about Breitbart and “hard living”. Very uncalled for and very inappropriate.
Funny how that didnt come out after his death.
Ah, but it did.
The "big announcement" was the merger of all of Breitbart's websites -- Big Hollywood, Big Journalism, Big Government, etc. -- into Breitbart.com
Nothing sinister...
That is ridiculous. Are you saying that I had something to do with his death? I’m a college student applying Occam’s Razor. As I said to another poster, find anything liberal I have ever said.
I agree. If this is being reported properly this is a b.s. cause of death, for all the reasons you point out.
I just finished his book and I am inspired to keep up his work. I hope many more good people are inspired too!
>>Are you saying that I had something to do with his death?<<
LOL!
Off the meds, are we?
>>Are you saying that I had something to do with his death?<<
That wasn’t it.
Watch the CPAC speech. He was talking about vetting Obama and how he has “something big” coming out.
Oops sorry, my cut and paste fouled up. Just ignore the first part there.
You said he looked fine...so where is the disconnect?
I said he looked fine
You said Over and Over how bad he looked.
For heaven’s sake, give it a rest. Your OCD is showing.
I met him at a Tea Party event last April; bought his book and got it signed....yes we are all Andrew Breitbart now!
My nephew 43 years old died from sudden cardiac arrest and had an atopsie and we were told he never knew what hit him. He didn’t even know he had heart problems. Of course, he wasn’t on the President’s s*** list either.
What is this item that you have described, what is its proper name?
yea, exactly. everyone on the left is in bed with zero.
You’re right, it was a conspiracy. My OCD led me astray...

(via Instapundit).
Extremities swelling I knew but fluid in lungs never occurred to me. Good info well put. Thanks!
Thanks.
this is true; I had to have an IV drip once, over a period of hours (I was told it had to be very slowly dripped into my system). Doc was very concerned about how low my potassium level was and said it is dangerous for your heart. I didn't know about that; my father has low potassium, too, so I don't know if it's hereditary? I often get leg/toe cramping, which I think is related to my potassium level getting low (then I remember to take my vitamins, which have potassium in it. As long as I'm taking vitamins regularly, the cramps don't come return).
I wasn’t bickering with anyone.
Cheers!
BFL.
Misleading reporting IMHO.
I’m pretty sure they are way better off than me...
How about a check to the Wounded Warriors Foundation?
I loved Andrew, huge fan, but he had recently experienced a previous serious heart attack and had a very sick heart. He kept working 16 hours a day. His friends were not surprised when he passed away. Nothing nefarious here.
Or taking Niacin and Chinese Red Yeast powder to reduce cholesterol levels....
Says Spokeshave whose cholesterol level is 170
That was my first thought when I saw his speech. In truth, I thought, “He doesn’t look well. If he keeps this up, he’s going to have a heart attack.” Sorry to say it. Makes me feel a bit guilty.
Was it painful?
***
Actually, no. I was already in the hospital for something else. Fell asleep,or so I thought. Woke up in a room on a table with 15 staffers in the room, one of whom was doing CPR. Now THAT is painful. Felt like my ribs were broken.
And no, I didn’t see the light or any of my dead family members or friends.
Contrary to popular belief, a heart attack or cardiac arrest can happen without the proverbial feeling of an elephant sitting in your chest. This is particularly true ofho women, but also can be for men. So if Mr. Breitbart had no apparent symptoms, I’m not surprised.
As young as he was serious health problems never occurred to me but it fit in retrospect. Terribly sad and such a loss for all who loved him.
A hell of a man really! He looks good there. Saw him several times on Red Eye and he looked and sounded perfectly healthy then.
I would see AB on ‘Red Eye,’ which I watch often enough.
Since his death believe I read somewhere (was it here?? or maybe some on ‘Red Eye’ who knew him said this) that he was always on the go, didn’t sleep much, had a million friends, etc.
He had a huge agenda.
The body can take only so much - needs rest/sleep to repair and regenerate.
Guess some can get away with it, and others don’t.
I agree with you. The man has passed, we have to take care of the living.
