This winter has almost made up for 1816. (The year without summer”).
I better go get my insulated shorts and t-shirt out.
I just bought a new snow-mower.
So, will the ski areas south of Buffalo open?
I doubt it. If there’s enough snow to open, the roads will be blocked by trees.
we are in SOUTHWESTERN PENNSYLVANIA
Winter officially ended March 20, 1:14 A.M. EDT.
Summer heat wave here in CA. It was 94 degrees today in San Jose. We could use some of that cool air.
It even hit 80 in Portland, OR.
Meanwhile, I’ll be walking through 100 degrees in Las Vegas Monday (work). It’s too early for 100, even there. Usually it’s June.
Unfortunately you are in the bulls eye and have enough elevation (about 2000 feet) to get hit. There’s still time for the storm to change track but it seems unlikely to fizzle.
Riiiiight. We have frost warnings for tonight and tomorrow night here in East Tennessee.
/NWS
Watch the lame stream media only report the excessive heat in those cities. Not the unusual snow. But then, to them it’s always just climate change.
I still have’nt bothered putting my sleds away for the summer, both are fueled up and ready to go, they are calling for 16” in my area.:)
Have your trees leafed out yet?
Don't let it get the tomatoes down around Maryville...
LOL
THATS WHY EVERY ONE IN PA. HAVE 4X4 TRUCKS..OUR TOYOTA TRUNDA IS GREAT IN THE MOUNTAINS BUT LOVES GASOLINE...ABOUT 17 MPGALLON.
Ugh. We had a very mild winter. Was going to put the plants in from the greenhouse this weekend. Everything else is in bloom outside and beginning to fill in. Very weird winter in western PA.
Not yet, it was 78 yesterday, i’m south of Buffalo just north of the PA. line. We will be lucky the leafs have not come out yet.
Crud, time to turn the heat on again. I’m in western PA.
My 4x4 chevy 1/2 ton has a 485 hp full roller 383 stroker that gets 10 miles per gallon, probably about the same if you pushed it off a cliff.:)
Ok, two days ago I was mowing my lawn in a tee shirt. Two days from now I will be shoveling 8” to 16” of snow. Just great. We haven’t had 8” all year.
Fired up the coal furnace today.........did i say coal?:),i meant my Obama opproved pixie dust and Unicorn farts heating system.
Depending on your location (see the map in post 1) and elevation you may want to prepare for losing power.
WELL IT'S BEEN GOOD HOLLERIN' AT YUNZ .. GOOD LUCK .. SEE YA IN THE SPRING !
LOLg'night
It was 80 here as I was lugging firewood into the house.
Johnstown here. Our first snow day of the 2011-2012 school year? (We homeschool so my kids don’t get snow days, but I close my office if Richland School District calls off.)
Your caps lock is stuck.
The Trundas are terrible. But the Tundras are really good.
They have here in Toronto, just across the lake from Buffalo.
I opened up the NOAA - National Mosaic Map and I don’t see anything in the Buffalo area:

Now, 150 miles East of Buffalo it looks nasty, though.
The link in Post 1 has Wednesday’s date on it.
These guys couldn’t forcast tomorrow’s weather with any certainty, much less Wednesday’s.
You know, I was going to siphon the gas out of my snow blower the other day and put it away for the year. Glad I didn’t. I guess I’ll let it sit and see if I need it again. It sure didn’t get much excersie this winter. ;))
Bad weather a-comin’ ping!
Upper 30’s tonight in Kansas City area.
I’m in Indiana County, Pa. Looks like we’ll be dragging out the propane heater and kerosene lamps again! We always lose power in a storm, and with the leaves on the trees now, there will be a lot of broken branches with resulting lines down.
oh goody :-/
If they’re accurate, we’re about 10 mi. East of the end of the snow zone. We started getting spring flowers in February. We’ve had daffodils, narcissus, hyacinths, forsythia for over a month. The fruit trees are in full bloom weeks early. It’s the spring that seemed to never end, but we always knew we’d have to pay. The woodstove is stoked up; not illegal yet.
Thank you for the warnings.
Years ago, a disc jockey in Pittsburgh said, if you don’t like the weather here, wait 5 minutes. It’ll change.
Friday, it was almost 80 here; tomorrow maybe snow.
Ahhh. Do I miss Upstate NY, Wayne County,
Yup! Been watching today...Not happy, LOL!
What’s snow? Haven’t seen anything of significance since last October. Even my plants are laughing at the weather reports.
Now, where is my suntan lotion?
I’m in Western Pa also..and you’re right “weird winter” says it. I don’t think I cleared the snow off my car more than five times... Not once snowed in as is usual. Very mild winter.
Drove through that area today. Was 70 when we left DC area, 40’s in the mountains of WV and Penn. Very thankful we dodged that bullet!!
