TRENTON — The State Police are investigating complaints that two troopers escorted a caravan of luxury sports cars at speeds in excess of 100 mph down the Garden State Parkway to Atlantic City last month. The occupants included former Giants running back and sports car enthusiast Brandon Jacobs, according to a source with knowledge of the trip.

In the complaints, obtained by The Star-Ledger, witnesses said that in the early afternoon March 30, they saw two State Police patrol cars with their emergency lights flashing driving in front of and behind the southbound caravan, which included dozens of Porsches, Lamborghinis, Ferraris and other vehicles, all with their license plates covered with tape.

Maybe they donated to the PBA and received a shield? Or Dad is on the job?

I hate the NJ Turnpike and GSP; they’re death-traps.

Hey, waddaya expect? We now live in the United States of Zimbabwe, where thugs are now government officials and law enforcement officials.

Who is to criticize the wealthy who donate to Obama, and get a few perks of extra freedom in the exchange?

If Eric Holder’s friends want to drive 100 mph in a caravan, who is to stop them?

You haven’t seen anything yet; things are about to get much, much worse as we now proceeed willy nilly into the Obama era of United States Fascism. We will no longer be ruled by laws, but by emotion and the whim of our new dictator. And the rest of our so called government , who we elect, will do absolutely nothing about it.They can’t even acknowledge it is happening.

The state police shouldn’t have escorted them with lights flashing; license plates covered with tape; and the officers getting paid. Those 4 officers are what are called useful idiots. I would heartily endorse their firing just for being idiots.

I hate the NJ Turnpike and GSP; they’re death-traps.

NJ governor Corzine barely escaped death in a GSP crash caused by one of these high speed trooper escorts going 100 mph. But that's standard operating procedure for NJ big wigs even to this day. Everyone that commutes in NJ has had to dodge these high speed escorts.

That said, statistically the GSP has one of the lowest fatality rates of any highway in the country, mainly because trucks are banned on most of it. The number one accident is rear endings, which occur several times per day. And that's how it gets its name "parkway" because several times per day it turns into a parking lot.

I ain’t FROM there, but I used to GO there a lot and I speak some of the lingo. If Dirty Harry had been, from south joisey he’d have said, “Guh-head! Make my day!” Or on a BAD day, “I should’ve stood in bed!”

BTW....Do you know why the cops DID that? Because they COULD! One solution might be to designate the NJ Turnpike an autobahhn and post a MINIMUM SPEED of 75. Problem solved!

Parkway lanes are narrower than interstate lanes. There’s many geezers driving slowly. The speed differential is too great and risky.

Why couldn’t these cars have temporary tags? This is not unprecedented. There’s a permit process.

It’s who you know in NJ.

I used to live in Hillsborough off Rt206 (2-lane country road back then), long time ago, and would drive down to Pt Pleasant/Cape May in my ‘74-75 TR6s; and coming back Sunday afternoon, GSP was a “parking lot” for miles and miles.

I went back to visit friends in Hillsborough/Princeton area in mid-90s, and ***GOT LOST***: they’d changed the roads so much I couldn’t find anything, after living there for 17yrs! The whole damned place was a foreign country! Haven’t been back since.

LOL.

Funny...being from Massachusetts, drivers somehow have a reputation up here, but I have found the most dangerous and outrageous driving in the area on I-95 between NYC and Connecticut (usually northbound, for some reason).

The things I have seen on that stretch, time and time again, are dangerous indeed.

The should extend Rte. 18 to AC but keep it a secret from everyone but the locals.

Sorry, but South Jersey people talk like Philadelphians - not like New Yorkers. Central and Northern Jersey people have accents more like New York.

The Denver Broncos, when playing a regular season home game, get a police escort from from the Dove Valley training facility to Mile High stadium. I'm sure it's at team expense but I always felt it was a bit much ... presume other NFL teams do something similar.
