Screw The Earth

The Earth - when it rocks!

Sunday was Earth Day, and in honor of the occasion, I’d like to say that as far as I’m concerned the Earth can go to hell.

The Earth — for those of you who may have fallen behind on your reading — is a piece of rock trapped in a slow death spiral into a cauldron of exploding plasma which, for lack of a better word, we’ll call the sun. Because that’s its name. There is exactly one interesting or worthwhile thing about this hunk of doomed space debris, and that is: it happens to maintain the conditions necessary for supporting life. (The odds against this would be ridiculously impossible, by the way, if there were no God — so impossible that scientists have been forced to invent all kinds of silly multi-universe scenarios solely for the purpose of convincing themselves that there is no God. But that’s their problem, and neither here nor there.)

So the earth supports life. Whoopee. And there is exactly one interesting or worthwhile thing about life — only one — and that is the mind of man.

“Holy cannoli, Klavan on the Culture,” you may be saying to yourself, or even out loud — because, let’s face it, you’re kind of an odd person — I mean, just look at you. Anyway, “Holy cannoli or even moley,” you may be saying, “how can you say the mind of man is the only interesting or worthwhile thing about life? What about the beauty of the running gazelle? The nobility of the flying eagle? The awesome awesomeness of the spacious skies above the amber waves running to the purple mountains above the fruited plains? And how about those glazed donuts with the yellow creme inside? I love those!”

First of all, stop talking so much, this is my blog. And b, there is no beauty, no nobility, no awesome awesomeness — not even the taste of a glazed donut — outside the human mind. The science is not yet settled, but reality itself may be in part a production of the human mind as there are some aspects of the world that don’t seem to resolve themselves until we observe them. But in any case, the gazelle would be fleet for nothing, the eagle would be a winged eating machine, the skies and the waves and the mountains would be dreams without the dreamer if man were not here to know them.

More Important Than the Earth.

Once you realize this, everything changes. You no longer worry about the earth running out of energy resources, because you realize there are no energy resources — there never were — there are only various forms of matter that our minds, the mind of man, transformed into energy resources for our pleasure and convenience. These will never run out as long as we’re here because the mind is limitless and will invent more.

You no longer worry about pollution, because you know that once free people become annoyed by it, other free people will fix it with cleaner fuel-burning methods and filters. Where are the pea soups of London? Where are the smogs of Los Angeles? Where are the snows of yesteryear? All right, I was just curious about that last one.

You no longer worry about the earth, because the earth is here for us, not the other way around. The earth is just our living space — for now. We should keep it reasonably clean and pleasant. But a carping obsession with spotless housekeeping turns you into a scolding fishwife — or an environmentalist — and makes life less comfortable for man, not more.

I’m a lifelong outdoorsman. I hike. I fish. I run through the woods acting out scenes from Lady Chatterly’s Lover. Or I did before the restraining order. I understand that a reasonable caution for the good of the environment should balance the profit motive of those excellent people who provide us with all the wonderful energy we need. I believe we can begin to achieve that reasonable caution by burying every environmentalist we can find up to his neck and then pouring honey on his head to attract the ants. You like ants, don’t you? So there’s a good way to celebrate Earth Day!

The earth is not warming catastrophically. Fracking does not cause earthquakes. We should find and use every drop of oil we’ve got — there’s enough there for centuries, by which time we’ll be living on Alpha Centauri powering our flying cars with toilet paper or old pages of Barack Obama’s autobiography… but I repeat myself.

So screw Earth Day. I would like to declare today — and every day — the Mind of Man Day. Celebrate that — nurture that — glorify that — and the earth, believe me, will take care of itself.

Why do the enviro-wackos worship the earth? Is is because they deny the existence of God? Because the God of the Bible, gave man dominion over the birds of skies and beasts in the fields, plus all that plant and mineral matter.

Naw, its because they have a relentless drive to control you and your private property. You can’t exercise your property rights because everywhere you turn, there is various forms of government telling you, you can’t. Its the most perfect scam of all because they want you to feel guilty about everything. Guilty about driving a SUV, having a big house, or using too much TP. Think about it. Endless busybodies, endless prodding and poking, pushing, and shoving. Then they take your choices away. Where are going to get your incandescent light bulbs. Contraband snuck in from Mexico on the backs of the illegals?

Well written. Just the right mix of humor and profundity. A little anthro-centric for my taste but a strong declaration of Man’s place on the planet.

They all wanna hug trees naked and dance in the rain while pointing their fingers at us for burning coal, cutting down the forests yet they destroy the most precious life. That of innocent children in their mothers womb. Disgusting filth. One day, when the system crashes, and they storm your fields, farms, the land you own, begging you for hand outs, enjoy shooting the ones who become violent. For that is what they have reaped.

To know the tree as tree and take delight in it. It seems to be a good starting point.

If one asks why this is, then one gets to the heart of the matter, for knowing is a prerequisite to loving.

And with a little bit of help from Revelation, one can know more, and love more. He Who Is, Who made all, in Whose Image we are made.

" ... a relentless drive to control ... "

That IS a rejection of God.

Spiders are born spinning webs, snakes slither away, birds fly and etc., so many of the animal kingdom are instinctively and almost immediately their kind.

We, on the other hand, take about 33 years to mature (not a random number, but one I've analyzed over the years and it's a pretty interesting sermon/message) and we go through extensive training chock full of trial and error, correction, punishment, etc.

It is damned (proper use of word) sure true the desire for power is because God is rejected.

Throwing a "logical" argument on the subject just exascerbates and prolongs the correction(s) that need to occur for us to truly win back our nation .... without a bloody revolution.

We can repent or we will pay ... and it is a choice ... and it is ours.

Springsteen's Homage to Pete Seeger
By Tom Moon

World Cafe, April 25, 2006 - On the new collection We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions, Bruce Springsteen honors the folk music tradition that has inspired many of his own compositions over the years. All the tracks on the new album are standards closely associated with folk icon Pete Seeger.

Springsteen assembled large ensemble of acoustic musicians to flavor the proceedings with everything from accordion to tuba. Rock critic Tom Moon talks with host David Dye about why he reacted so strongly and positively towards this latest offering by The Boss.

What fascinates me about nature is the faith-fact that the entire universe was created through Jesus, who “sustains all things by his powerful word.” (Hebrews 1:3)

Paul in Romans declares that the Gentile world stands condemned before God “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20)

Of course this can be rejected, but if it is true then it has huge implications for the naturist/environmentalist obsession with earth. Every tiny observable bit of creation preaches and teaches JESUS and yet they refuse to acknowledge Him.

Communist movement leaders always try to use "noble-appearing" but largely phony issues/movements to bootstrap their communist, control-freak goals. The so-called "anti-war" movement is another excellent example. They talk about "peace and love" while they (the communist organizers of the large "peace" rallies) worship mass-murdering monsters like Mao, Che, Castro and even Stalin. Not exactly men of peace. Meanwhile hundreds of thousands of mindless dupes participate in these events specifically designed to weaken America and advance the international communist cause.

To know the tree as tree and take delight in it.

From June 2008...

"At least one tree sitter on Tuesday began throwing bags of human waste on the approaching arborists."
http://www.ci.berkeley.ca.us/news/print.asp?id=25637

________________________________________________________________

BERKELEY, Calif. (KCBS) -- One woman was arrested Tuesday as authorities removed some of the structures that have housed tree sitting protesters in an oak grove UC Berkeley wants to cut down to make way for a $125 million athletic facility.

The protester was taken into custody after she reportedly bit one of the workers removing her supplies, according to police. Officers cordoned off part of Piedmont Avenue near Memorial Grove and brought in arborists to remove the platforms and gear the tree sitters have used to maintain their perches since December 2006. A university official had earlier said the tree sitters themselves would not be removed yet.

“One of the things we’re most concerned about is safety and security, of our police officers and the people in the trees. That’s the reason we’re not forcibly removing people from the trees today,” said Dan Mogulof, a spokesman for UC Berkeley.

Tuesday was not the first time the university has removed scaffolding built by the protesters, but removing the people has proven more difficult. One witness told KCBS reporter Tim Ryan at the scene that some of the tree sitters threw urine they had collected in buckets at the police and arborists to discourage them from climbing.

Of course any time a tree is taken down for a greater good, it can be milled into lumber for a barn, turned to make sauer kraut pounders, children’s toys, etc....

If seasoned long enough, it can warm one’s hearth.

The Earth was made for us, and we were made for God.
