Metta World Peace likely faces multigame suspension for cheap shot [Ron Arrest]
cbs ^ | 4/23/12

Posted on 04/23/2012 7:01:52 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

Metta World Peace was subdued and contrite in the Los Angeles Lakers' locker room, apologizing to Oklahoma City's James Harden for throwing the elbow that sent them both to the locker room in the second quarter.

They both missed a beauty of a game that could echo into the postseason for two division leaders.

Anything short of a LIFETIME ban for Metta World Piece of $&*#@ will be a travesty.

He has a long record of violent and irrational behavior and has no business being in the league anymore.

Normally, I believe what happens on the court should be dealt with by the league, but in this case, I think Artest should be arrested for felony assault.

What drives me crazy is the Artest apologists who don’t think his prior record should be considered in this case. Sure, he started the worst brawl in NBA history, but that was 8 years ago, and “he’s tried so hard to be fix his image since then”.

What a bunch of bull! He has had other suspensions since 2004, and so what it if it was 8 years ago? The fact that he would commit such a vicious act of violence, 8 years later shows that he learned NOTHING and hasn’t changed one bit.

more like whirrled peas.

And in defense of the guy, the player that got hit did come into MWP's space and bump up against him. Naturally that invokes a gentle response in return.

does that really need a sarc tag?

I saw this on ESPN last night and was like, "who the F$^& is Metta World Peace?" yes, the retards at ESPN only referred to Ron Artest as "Metta World Peace". The same Ron Artest who started a riot at a Detroit / Pacers game at Auburn Hills where he lunged into the stands.

Now he changed his name??? Wow can't believe the Bulls drafted him, I think Jerry Krause was still in charge though so atleast that makes some sense.

What Metta World Peace mans? I have no idea. Probably as illiterate as the "kill George Zimmerman" by the blacks on Twitter. And sorry if that sounds racist that is simply reality. Look at Drudge. They are all death threats and they are all tweeted by blacks speaking Euuuuubonics!

One genius posted that "He gots bail, dat means he ain't gonna eva get chargeded we gots to kills him..." not making this up...

Yeah, after thumping his chest like the lowland gorilla he is, this DNA challenged thug elbows the opposing player right in the chops.

Must be whiteys fault.

It is amazing how these “Pros” celebrate such a simple task of dunking a ball (not to difficult when you can jump high enough that the basket is below your arms) with theatrics like they had just conquered cancer.

Haven’t watched the NBA in decades.

Ten 7' black thugs, walking up and down the court, slam, jam'em a ball that they can palm like a baseball, into a rim that is usually three feet lower than the apex of their slam, or shooting wide open 3 pointers.

They begin to run with two minutes on the game clock which turns into 25 minutes of wall clock time when they use their collective ten time outs.

On rare occasion, they will replace one 7' black thug with a 7' token white thug that can jam the ball and sometimes can even speak English {not a requirement}.

I agree 100%. Worse is that I can’t get away from it .... ESPN’s Top 10 plays always include six, no talent, dunks and two, even less talent, soccer shots.

Huh? Man I hate soccer, but I would never sit there and propose they change the size of the net to allow little people a better chance. Like Soccer, the game is what it is but changing rim height is just preposterous. I find NCAA and international basketball largely unwatchable, but I don't find myself making these kinds of statements about something I don't care to watch.

Heck, at 10 feet high now, most NBA players barely make 60% of their Free Throws.

Amen to that. I seem to recall the days when pro basketball was entertaining and the scores would be something like 145 to 140. They could actually make a set shot and dunking didn't come in until Wilt and Kareem got into the act and most of the good players could shoot foul shots with their eyes closed.

Shaq would have been the greatest player ever if he only made his free throws.....teams knew they could foul him knowing he’d probably miss, it wound up shortening his career by at least a few years.

In 2009, NBA players shot just over 77% from the foul line, an all-time record. For the last 50 years, the annual NBA free throw percentage has been about 75%. There is virtually no change year-over-year.

Artest didn’t ‘just whale away with his elbow upside the head of the other guy’.

Absent Harden’s deliberate provocation, I doubt Artest would have delivered the elbow.

One action led to the other. Context is king.
