Mary Matalin on Rush today - and is she off base? (Stunned)
4-23-2012 | Self

FREEPER COMMENTS REQUESTED: Is it just me, or is Mary Matalin way off base today with her entire theme for the show (guest hosting for Rush). Now I normally like her work tremendously, but her idea that we should search for "virtue" in government and for "virtuous people" to be in government seems extremely naive.

The only virtue in government is its limit. We will never get a government full of virtuous people. By definition, government is power and virtuous people are not drawn to that. Our Founders knew that. This is why they insisted on LIMITED government. Wake up Mary!

The fact she married CarVILE says t all for me, same with Ann, she dated Bill Maher, tells me everything I need to know about them both. I didn’t even bother to turn the radio on knowing whe would be there.

The Founders also INSISTED on virtue. If you think they thought government was nothing but naked power and that they were not interested in virtue, only in naked power limiting naked power then no wonder you hated Santorum’s guts.

Will the government ever be “full of virtuous people.” No. But that doesn’t mean virtue has no place.

See, it takes virtue to adhere to a limited-government constitution. Deny a role to virtue and you instantaneously guarantee that the Constitution, with its limits on power,
won’t
be
respected
or
adhered
to.

She is so utterly boring that I turned her off in order to enjoy the blessed sound of silence.

"The only virtue in government is its limit. We will never get a government full of virtuous people."

We have concentrated so much power in Washington that no matter how virtuous a pol is when he arrives, they are soon corrupted. Political power corrupts everything and everyone it touches.

She’s still talking about the need for virtue in politics.
WTH?

Rush’s scheduler has probably just been fired.

I don't really care for Styne. With him I last about 45 minutes.

Mark Levin would be great. We also have a guy on in the morning here in Atlanta - Rob Johnson - who would be great. I honestly think Rush gets lousy fill-ins so we will miss him even more.

Sadly me too. I have never heard her and I wasn't getting what she was trying to convey so I left.

Wow! I listened for the first 5 minutes myself and thought it was just me. Thanks for sharing in my pain. My first few thoughts were:

1) Is Rush trying to kill off his audience to be more “fair” to other talk show hosts?
2) “Virtue?” - Really? $4 gas! Economy about to crash again! Fast and Furious cover-up! GSA “government watchdog” stealing from all of us! Impending race war in Florida! etc.!!! And we are going to talk about virtue???

I agree, she seems like a nice woman, but she is also the epitome of E-GOP. RINO’s play politics like it’s a badminton match. DEMS/LIBS play it like it’s a MMA bout to the death.

Frankly, I think the RINO’s intentionally want to lose. I have no idea why, but there can’t be any other reason for their stupid actions. With Mitt as the nominee, it’s a sure loss for the R’s in the fall. Can’t I at least listen to Rush for a sliver of relief!?!?!?

COÑO!!!!!!

She is absolutely brutal. There is only one guest host worth a damn: STEYN. I guess it’ll be music radio this afternoon.

I can't listen to the show. But there is honor and danger in what I have read in this thread so far.

Honor: We wish we could find noble and patriotic citizens of the highest caliber, determined to honoring the intent and letter of the constitution for the near and far future of our nation. But you don't find these types of citizens cohorting and schmoozing with the likes of todays politicians. How many of us would trust the average politician to park our car? Noble Americans, properly qualified to lead our country, do not want to stoop to the level of politics. They will not make the sacrifices and put their families through what they must to do the job.

Danger: Who gets to decide what “virtuous” means when we start soliciting leadership? The left is far better than the right at defining what is “good” in a person and for America. Would the left agree that George W. was virtuous? I bet not. What about Bill Clinton? In the end, the very picture of what a “virtuous” character would look like would be defined for America by the left. It would not have anything to do with honesty, core values, constitutional adherence, manners, experience, etc. The left would define “virtuous” to mean a leader that is looking out for the poor and minorities, wants to give peace a chance, is fair, and listens to the people. A virtuous person would come to equal a liberal or democrat.

Nothing will have changed but the label.

I haven't trusted her since she started dating and then married that a$$hole Carville. Ya' see, I wouldn't even be in the same room with that worthless ba$tard, and she even married him and shared her bed with him.

The way I see it is that she was getting a paycheck from the "right," and didn't want to lose it . . . since she was pretending for years to be one of us.

Anyone who would share a room, house, or bed with someone as vile as Carville HAS TO BE A LIBERAL!

No thanks...wish Rush could of done better than MM.

Maybe the virtue we need in politicians is that of being humble, as in not proud or arrogant. Politicians should know first & foremost that they 1) don’t have all the answers & 2) can never make the world perfect.

If more politicians understood those two things we wouldn’t have half the problems we have today!
