The Sanford, Florida, City Commission decided Monday not to accept the proposed resignation of its embattled police chief, who has been under fire for the handling of the investigation into Trayvon Martin's death in February.
Chief Bill Lee has been on leave since March 22, a day after the commission expressed a lack of confidence in him for how he's handled the investigation. George Zimmerman, who has said he killed the 17-year-old Martin in self-defense, was not arrested after being questioned by police the night of the shooting. He was charged weeks later with second-degree murder.
Earlier Monday, the city announced in a statement that a separation agreement had been reached with Lee to resign. If it was approved by the City Commission, it would have taken effect at midnight.

Sepuku by race.
I hope that’s the end of the nonsense.
I figure that the press leaned on the commissioners, and the race baiters screamed at them, until they caved. And then maybe the people of the town leaned on them the other way, and threatened to vote them out, if they kicked out a police chief who was just doing his job. That’s sheer speculation, but that’s the way town governments tend to work.
Because of political pressure.
Good.
It’s time to stop letting them walk all over us.
What the .....
Odd.
Hahahahaha! I love this case! Mr. Zimmerman will be a multi-millionaire before he’s 30!!
Fox just said that a group was in attendance supporting “Billy”. Rev Al was named as being an outside force. People want to run their own town not be intimidated by those outside of it. Two were strongly for him. Showed the woman pictured in an earlier thread asking what he did wrong. Mayor flipped and joined those who wanted to run their own town.
I’m VERY happy to read this!!!
Add this action to the planned rally in support of George on Sunday and I’d say the good people of Sanford have had enough of the “outside” forces....Rev Al Sharpton by name.
Group today were wearing t shirts and wrist band with “We back Billy” on them.
I think people are realizing that the prosecution’s case is incredibly weak.
Holders people wont like this.
Good news indeed, that a bit of common sense is being shown for once.
What you are seeing here are some of the people who have had their lives and careers ruined by a pack of Nifong’esque lies setting themselves up for damages in the litigation that will follow when this whole thing blows up in the face of the outside agitators who have misrepresented the facts .
The police chief is setting himself up for a wrongful termination suit against the city if they force him to resign and Zimmerman’s Lawyer is setting Zimmerman and himself up for a big fee and damages award for obvious reasons.
Just a side note. If there is rioting in Sanford it won't be pretty, or long lived. Not just because of the rioters, but because almost everyone in Sanford is armed, to include Afro-American business owners.
Another side note, to those across the country who may want to take advantage of the situation: let the games begin...

The thugs and the national and Miami media are still in race card mode.
Well, this didn’t turn out like The Won(s) thought it would now did it?
I’m sure they are, but people that weren’t familiar with all the ins and outs, and that were waiting for more information to come out are moving toward Zimmerman as more information becomes is available. That’s my sense anyway.
Information is the enemy of the race baiters.
But the prosecutor expressly denied that it had anything to do with political pressure. Are you calling her a liar?
Ha!
if the shoe fits
Maybe he’s innocent, but why should he be paid just for being innocent? I’m innocent, too, but I don’t get paid anything.
Have you been accused of murdering a minor because of his race and had your reputation ruined throughout the world? Richard Jewell was accused of setting a bomb at the Olympics and made millions when the truth came out. This is at least 10X worse.

Good for them!
I can’t believe that you would question the integrity of an elected public official.
He wouldn't receive anything simply for being innocent, but because other people have libeled and slandered him, and their libels and slanders have destroyed his reputation and threatened his freedom.
Maybe hes innocent, but why should he be paid just for being innocent? Im innocent, too, but I dont get paid anything.
Why should he be financially destroyed if he’s innocent?
If he is alive to accept it. I understand he’s officially disarmed, by order of the court.
Jewell didn’t collect a cent. He died first.
WOnder if there is any way we can support those who spoke up from our computers. Do they have contact information?
With the exception of Fat Al, Spike Lee and the MSM, the people who’ve been threatening him are judgment proof. As for the aforementioned, they have high-priced lawyers, and Fat Al was already sued once for libel and slander. Don’t recall him ever paying anything.
No reason for him to step down just because (sadly) some young NO_LIMIT_xxxxxx did not know his limitations.
Race baiters and media should never influence law and order.
Richard Jewell, however, was entirely innocent. He never did anything and was tried and convicted in the media.
Mr. Zimmerman, however, definitely did shoot the kid and kill him. His innocence is predicated on the claim of self defense. Maybe he is innocent, but definitely he did shoot someone.
In criminal cases, people get very worked up over results. If a new mother with an infant in a stroller are run over and killed, everyone wants the driver to be charged with murder, even though he might have only gone a little to fast and didn’t see that the road was wet from a sprinkler. They’ll want to charge the one who put the sprinkler out there, a charge which no judge would let survive five minutes.
In this case, that phenomenon works both ways. People are furious over the age of Trayvon Martin and the racial component, on the one hand. On the other, they’re furious at the cavalier manner in which Zimmerman’s life is being ruined beyond repair even though he might be innocent. I don’t think in a civil case he’d be able to get a jury free of the people furiously against him, and if he waives trial by jury, I don’t think he’ll get a judge willing to give him a runaway award. I doubt he’ll come out wholly unscathed from the criminal case. Probably get manslaughter in some degree or other, which will queer his civil case prospects even if his conviction is later overturned on appeal. It’s not pleasant to contemplate, but I think he’ll have to settle for having his freedom and move to another state.
In case you didn’t get the memo, the news lied about the entire case and this guy can’t even walk around on a public street anymore.
ditto
Good news, I guess. If this guy has been receiving threats to his family I can see why he would want out.
I looked it up a few minutes ago and he collected from most.

There probably would have been a lot less threats if your list of scoundrels hadn’t lied about the entire case on TV.
That dirt bag Prosecutor belongs in jail and should be stripped of his law liscense along with that woman who looks like Miss Piggy.
Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the NAACP should be sued for inciting violence and libel.
Trayon's mother and baby daddy should be sued and also criminally charged for libel.
I'd love for nothing more to see Trayvoooooon's parents sitting in a prison cell for the damage they are doing to this country.
So it is, and that’s good. I had seen articles that indicated he got next to nothing.
Based on what? The charging document was woefully lacking, and the investigator, under oath, in court, said they had no evidence that it wasn't self defense.
The state has to prove "Beyond reasonable doubt" that it wasn't self defense.
Maybe you should turn off the television. Real life isn't like the shows.
