Florida city commission rejects police chief's resignation in Trayvon Martin case

The Sanford, Florida, City Commission decided Monday not to accept the proposed resignation of its embattled police chief, who has been under fire for the handling of the investigation into Trayvon Martin's death in February.

Chief Bill Lee has been on leave since March 22, a day after the commission expressed a lack of confidence in him for how he's handled the investigation. George Zimmerman, who has said he killed the 17-year-old Martin in self-defense, was not arrested after being questioned by police the night of the shooting. He was charged weeks later with second-degree murder.

Earlier Monday, the city announced in a statement that a separation agreement had been reached with Lee to resign. If it was approved by the City Commission, it would have taken effect at midnight.

Good news, I guess. If this guy has been receiving threats to his family I can see why he would want out.

There probably would have been a lot less threats if your list of scoundrels hadn’t lied about the entire case on TV.

The Prosecutor who reminded me of the Nazi Judge conducting the show trial after the bombing at Hitler's compound. Where he was screaming like a mad man.

That dirt bag Prosecutor belongs in jail and should be stripped of his law liscense along with that woman who looks like Miss Piggy.

Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the NAACP should be sued for inciting violence and libel.

Trayon's mother and baby daddy should be sued and also criminally charged for libel.

I'd love for nothing more to see Trayvoooooon's parents sitting in a prison cell for the damage they are doing to this country.

So it is, and that’s good. I had seen articles that indicated he got next to nothing.

Mr. Zimmerman, however, definitely did shoot the kid and kill him. His innocence is predicated on the claim of self defense. Maybe he is innocent, but definitely he did shoot someone.

Or Zimmerman had the gun in his hand and Trayvon, pulling on it in the opposite direction of the pressure of Zimmerman's finger on the trigger, trying to wrest it from his grasp, caused it to go off.

Have wondered since there were some inconsistency with the gun casing etc, if the gun actually had gotten out of the holster. Your description would fit into that scenario.

Probably get manslaughter in some degree or other

Based on what? The charging document was woefully lacking, and the investigator, under oath, in court, said they had no evidence that it wasn't self defense.

The state has to prove "Beyond reasonable doubt" that it wasn't self defense.

Maybe you should turn off the television. Real life isn't like the shows.

And that the only reason he was charged was because of political pressure which came directly from our first foreign born Islamic Marxist mulatto POTUS.

Are you calling her a liar?

If daug won't I will.

Bending the Rule of Law for political reasons is b.s.

The very nature of Inalienable Rights is that they're nonnegotiable.

Not to mention Zimmerman and his family are having their lives threatened on a daly basis AND the government has disarmed him. In essense infringed on his 2nd Amendment Constitutional right when he needs it most. Can you imagine the phone calls, the mail this guy has been getting? And to top it off, the POTUS took sides against him! This guy must feel like the whole world wants to kill him.

Maybe he’s innocent, but why should he be paid just for being innocent?

Violation of US Code, Section 242 Deprivation of rights Under color of law, which includes Right to Keep an bear arms [since his 'probation' means he cant keep his carry permit], violation of due process and/or false arrest [since he was released, he proved it was self defense and should never been arrested], violation to his right to a grand jury [who would have no-billed him and dropped the whole thing], ...that's just the city.

Then there's libel and slander, for all the network editing, and selective photography, making him look like he ran around murdering innocent children...

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of for now. :-)

You are not going to shoot this weapon by accident, it fires double action only and has the longest trigger pull I have ever seen.

Good on the city council. It’s pretty clear the police chief and the Sanford PD did the right thing in not charging Zimmerman.

The Martin shooting was self-defence, supported by the evidence and the case was handled correctly.

Then some political race-baiter got involved and now Zimmerman must wear a kevlar vest and watch his every move. All while spending God only knows how much on attorneys defending himself against this political 2nd degree murder charge.
