MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Police said attack leaves a man in critical condition, and police investigating possible arrests. It happened Saturday night, and allegedly started with kids playing basketball.
"What we initially have been able to tell from the investigation is that our victim was fussing at some kids for playing basketball on the street. What we believe happened is the kids left and told someone that he was fussing about them playing basketball," said Cpl. Chris Levy with Mobile Police.
That's when police said an unknown number of people came back and attacked Owens on the front porch of the house where he was staying. Owens' friend was inside the home and heard the attack while it was happening. He said he looked out the window to see what was going on.
'"I seen all these people just rushing. It was like I seen at least 15 children, women, men. It was horrible before I could. I was paralyzed," said the man who did not want to be identified.
He said it was a horrific scene.
"They busted his head open, he got staples and everything. I sat there and held him trying to get him to stop bleeding," said the friend.
Police said Owens was beaten with several different objects including paint cans. No arrests have been made at this time.
It is still unclear what Owens said during the dispute. Police want anyone with information about this incident to please call them.

This is that story: So I found out this morning that my friends brother Matthew Owens was attacked in his own front yard by about 20 to 30 black men. They attacked him with bats, paint cans and bricks. As they left them laying there for dead they told him that was for Trayvon Martin. He is now in the ICU at USA with 13 staples in his head and in critical condition his brain is bleeding. He did not know Trayvon and neither did the guys that beat him up nor did ue deserve it. Why is THIS not considered a “hate” crime?!?! Why is nothing being done for him? Its not on the news or receiving any kind of media attention. I feel this man deserves justice just as much as Trayvon does and they need to take the necessary steps to apprehend these men and bring them to justice for this horrible crime they have committed. Please keep him in your prayers as he is trying to recover. What a sad world we live in that u can’t even be in your own front yard (right off pleasent valley rd. ).....from kristen willie raley

Folks, consider this. In 1992, the internet was nothing. We had to rely on the news for our info. With the internet, we can see everything that happens in the US and without the MSM BS if we so desire. It allows us to communicate with others all across the nation and world, and regrettably it will also be used to stir the tumult that is to come when the toss Zimmermans case out.
I pray that all of you that can carry, will. And those of you, like me, that work in an urban area, have a plan and means to escape the inevitable retribution soon to be visited.
This is a couple of miles from where I grew up. Middle class area. It’s been turned over to low-lifes in the last 2 decades. I fear for my 76 year old Mom who is still there.

We have a friend that we were able to get out of a run down area of her city. Shortly thereafter, mayhem rose up like weeds. Murders, drugs, etc.
If you fear for her, imagine how she feels.
A Black woman that I never thought of as black had a big hand in raising me up. No. She wasn’t a nanny. It just worked out that way. Look at the MSM trying to make out like the guy who was beaten to a pulp might have deserved it because he might have said something the black thugs didn't like. Does anyone even sell 28 gauge ammo any more? Even when I was a kid(in the golden days of gun ownership in America)28 gauge was hard to find. Have to admit, a 28 gauge would beat the he** out of a .410.

If I only have five shots, I want 12 gauge and not 28 gauge. I also want them coming out of a gun with the control that I’d get from a full-sized shotgun. If I’m going with a revolver in this situation, I’d at least want six shots of .357 magnum. Against 20 attackers, I’m not going to miss, and I want every shot to have the knockdown power of a .357. If I’m going to use a handgun, I want high capacity. The Trayvon Martin case may drive me to buy a 9mm.

Also a great idea. I carry a Browning Hi-Power, I like. There are also many others that carry larger magazine capacities but the cartridges you select also have great bearing on what you desire.

From personal experience, allow me to surmise what the “fussing” was about. The kids are playing basketball, while also shouting the F-word at the top of their lungs in every phrase. F-— you, mothaf—cka!! Loud enough to be heard by every old woman and small child in a two block radius. Owens says, “Hey, can you please stop cursing?”
And for “dissing” these yutes by telling them to tone it down, he gets a major beat down, critical condition, will probably have brain damage for life.

Now that the details of the story have come out, it appears one of the perps actually stated that this was justice for Trayvon.
I’ll bet NBC doesn’t play up the story - what do you want to bet?
