MetroWeekly.com is exposing the whole truth that Washington Post would not reveal:

Mitt Romney’s campaign tonight announced that it has hired Richard Grenell, an out gay former George W. Bush administration official, to serve as the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s “national security and foreign policy spokesman,” according to a report from The Washington Post that did not mention Grenell’s sexual orientation.

Grenell served through September 2008 in the Bush administration as a spokesman to the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations — and told The Advocate‘s Kerry Eleveld as he left the administration that it was his hope that New York would have marriage equality soon and that he would one day be able to marry his partner, Matt Lashey. The couple has been together 10 years. . . .

Andrew Sullivan, who had endorsed Obama’s 2008 run, wrote of the news, “For Romney to have an openly gay spokesman is a real outreach to gay Republicans, a subtle signal to moderates, and the Santorum faction’s reaction will be worth noting.”

Grenell is not just gay, but a gay activist who pushes for same-sex marriages.

At the end of Grenell’s service in the Bush administration, he took a notable whack at the administration, telling The Advocate‘s Kerry Eleveld of his effort to have his partner, Matt Lashey, listed in the United Nations’ Blue Book, which is “a reference guide of contact information for different member states of the United Nations as well as diplomatic personnel and their spouses.”

Grenell had attempted to have Lashey’s name added several times, to no avail. He told The Advocate back in 2008, “What put me over the edge was a friend and colleague who met her spouse after I was already with my partner — they got married and subsequently were put into the Blue Book in a matter of days.”

The State Department eventually told him that the Defense of Marriage Act prevented the listing. Although he protested the decision behind the scenes, Lashey’s name was not ever added, which led to his coming forward to criticize the treatement publicly as he left his post.

HuffPost has noted that since the choice, Grenell has scrubbed his Twitter account and website of offensive material...

I don’t think a real conservative could live in New England. A true Conservative would have voted with their feet. Sucks to be you in that cold liberal hell hole.

Well, you did such a good job supporting your candidates, they are on permanent vacation. So now you have a choice...get off your ass and elect some folks in the senate that can help us, and get a President who will sign some bills. Or, you can whine about not getting your way.

But , since you are so used to losing, it might be difficult to get your cat fish eating rebel behind in gear.

I would have expected a more gracious post from someone in the great state of Virginia.

I want him to cut government spending. If he has to carry a dozen gays on his back to accomplish this, then so be it. We have to focus. We are not going to get everything we want. Obviously we have to settle with Romney. We have to focus on what we can get and what is important.

The chances of spending being cut under Romney is zero. You get nothing. And the country continues it's plunge to moral, constitutional, political and economic destruction. You're fooling yourself.

Judging by your post, I don't think you understand what is actually "important."

Tell me is what I say not true? Are you not surrounded by libs and have to “fake it” to get by and look normal? i.e. fake liberalism? By all means correct me if what I say is untrue....

You are such a pompous ass. Tell me where VA did a damned thing in 2008 to help us. I guess you think we should go back to the 1850’s when VA had something to offer the country. Boh wait— you guys couldn’t accomplish anything without enslaving people.

How about we just work to get this a-hole out of the white house, and pick our fights amongst each other next spring.

Not voting for Good Hair Etch-A-Sketch. The old scare tactics of the defunct Whig party just aren’t working on me this go around. You can try it like but I am not buying it this time. I am tapped out.

Taken in that context should Jesus never have spent time with prostitutes?

I prefer the humor to the Biblical lessons right now. I am getting enough preaching.

Imho, some of us are feeling desperate, and willing to sacrifice anything to keep Obama from a second term. I have some sympathy for this position, since I am also feeling desperate.

However, I could not live with myself for the rest of my life if I voted for that false, scum sucking swine, Romney.

I apologize in advance for my language.

There are more conservatives here than is evident. I don't have to fake a thing where I live.

I am here on this site because I love and respect its owner, and believe that it is the only place online that is truly and unapologetically conservative.

I agree. I'm surprised to hear so many people saying the same thing. The RNC really screwed up by tipping the tables for Romney this time. No one can stand the man! I'm not just speaking for those on FR. People simply do not like him personally or politically.

There's going to be a really low turn out this year. Average, right leaning Americans have no one to vote for.

Both O-bomb-us and Etch-A-Sketch will have negative approval rating going into the general. I have never heard of this situation in a Presidential election before... It’s who sucks the least kind of thing....

I understand the difference between discerning behavior and judging. We may be mixing definitions, but there is certainly a lot of judging including guilty verdict going on around here.

I can discern good from bad and act on that. Not my place to judge. That is what I mean.

I have heard all kinds of versions of peoples opinions of Mormonism. I have none except that I dont like being seated next to a Mormon missionary on long flights...its torture. The version that has been most reported to me is that they follow the Bible same as a Christian, but added an additional “book” based on an after Christ prophet. Not sure I buy it or not, but many people in my own very Christian church have feel the presence of God and purport to have heard him in prayer. I would not cast doubt on these people so why cast doubt on the John Smith story? I would never join the Mormon church, have no need as I am already saved. And the church I subscribe to is one based on the relationship with God and other people, not deeds, which I am told Mormonism is more tuned to.

I have never heard the multiple “Gods” version of Mormonism and that sounds like some splinter group. I will let any Mormon Freepers defend their faith. BTW, Mormonism is capitalized here not because of me, but because of spell checker. I dont want to give anyone the impression I am a Mormon troll.

This is an “In Your Face” move. There is an “embrace the sodomy or you’re a bigot” wing of the GOP, and Mitt is within that wing. We don’t need degenerates as leaders or in positions of importance.

I would agree and do not like the govt telling anyone who they can or cant hire. Not sure what that has to do with the pro/anti GOP/Romney as a candidate discussion.

I think you are hung up on "judge". We are to do so. What we cannot do is condemn anyone. That is God's job. And I'm glad it's not mine.

Mormon Beliefs, are they Christian?

Finally, please understand that the Mormon Church uses Christian terms but has radically changed the meanings of those terms. So, when it says that Mormons belief in the father the son and the Holy Spirit, they are really saying they believe in a God from another planet, with a goddess wife, who literally is the father of Jesus, and that there is a spirit being, the Holy Ghost, who is another God.
