Romney Wins GOP Primary Marked by Low Turnout (The RINO Effect)
Middletown Patch ^ | 4/24/12 | Cassandra Day

Posted on 04/24/2012 7:34:28 PM PDT by jimbo123

Middletown poll workers outnumbered voters in Tuesday's Republican Primary in which the presumptive GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney sailed to victory.

-snip

Normally, there’s a rush between 6 and 8 a.m., Dypa said, as a poll worker yelled to the eight others in the gymnasium, not one a voter, “seven hours!” This year, three Republicans showed up at Spencer during the first two hours.

This has nothing to do with RINOs or their running dog lackeys.

It is by now a very noticeable peculiarity of Romney that if he's the only real contestant Republican interest in the election falls off ~ just drops down away to zero.

This guy is going to destroy down ballot voting for Senators and Representatives.

Yea, you're right about that point, it will be shown to completely depress turnout from the base of the GOP.

After the media gets done with Romney using his own lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal record against him like a club upside the head 24/7, showing what an absolute hypocrite he is and how similiar his record is to Obama's, his poll numbers will be in the toilet.

His loss to Obama will make McCain's loss look like a win:

And did you hear Newt admonish conservatives to unify behind the nominee, which he said would likely be Romney? That Newt is such a turn coat; taking a stand like no other for us conservatives only to fold in the end... I’ll never vote again, if I do, it’ll be for the total destruction of the USA... its conservatism or hell... /sar...

General Winfield Scott Romney would like to Congratulate all the Voters who came out today in support of the Whig Party, together we can Continue the Comprise of 1850, and to keep Compromising with the Democrats over debt slavery until we tear the country again through our own Impotence and Inaction.

Good Day!

Okay, if that is true, I give up on politics and especially Conservatives (they are the lowest on the totem pole).

Even though Romney is not it I’ll vote for him but its only because the other choice would be much worse.

I fear you are correct, and that is something we have GOT to work on. Given the Cyanide-Arsenic dichotomy between the two sockpuppet candidates, it is essential to get conservatives or the cheap imitation Republicans into Congress. Down ticket has never been so important.

NY Primary Vote for Mitt Romney:

2008: 178,043

2012: 84,558 (83% reporting)

Mittens lost half his voters from 2008 and he still won the 2012 primary!

And McLame won the NY primary in 2008 with 333,001 votes

A GOP-e disaster in the making!

I remember reading once he was the longest serving General...50 or so years. Amazing. I know Lincoln used him or used him for advice durng the civil war which is incredible. That would be like Kennedy or Johnson using a General born in the 1800s during the Vietnam war (which was yet another war started by Democrats and blamed on Republicans.)

It was Winfield Scott’s strategy which won the war for the North, with a bit of an accelerant from William Tecumseh Sherman. The foundation plan though was always Scott’s, and formulated before the first shots were fired.

In today’s NY vote, Mitt Romney lost HALF of those who voted for him back in 2008!

All of the inevitability talk has depressed the turnout. 82,000 votes with 81% reporting is shockingly low. The only encouraging thing is the thought that Newt really wouldn't need a large number of votes in Texas to win the primary there. Not enough people understand that Romney's unpopularity with conservatives makes the convention more important. Elections are not the same every year. The immediate goal for conservatives this election is to prevent Romney from winning on the 1st ballot in Tampa. Republican conventions haven't always been boring. Tampa could be a blast if Romney doesn't win on the 1st ballot.

Lincoln - 3rd ballot
Rutherford Hayes (7th ballot)
James Garfield (36th ballot!)
Warning Harding (10th ballot)
Dwight D. Eisenhower (2nd ballot)

brokered Republican conventions led to wins in the past.

There was no publicity whatever for the NY Primary. Nothing in the mail from the Party or Board of Elections, and no road or lawn signs. I found out about it yesterday (Monday) on the Internet.

Did the Party country-clubbers not want people to turn out because folks other than Romney might pick up votes? Or was it just that none of the campaigns wanted to spend the money on a foregone conclusion? Seems to me it would have made sense for Newt to promote turnout to hold off Romney some, since NYS is not winner-take-all.

OK, Romney will doom us to another four years of Obama. That is practically certain. Prepare for an Obama landslide.

It wasn’t the GOPe that chose Romney, it was the primary voters to voted for the numscull.

But, maybe we can push for some conservative state and local candidates? Maybe with a Republican Senate Obama will be held back a bit?
