Democrats Have Bigger Anti-Mormon Problem in Election Than GOP Has
TheDailyBeast ^ | 4/23/2012 | Peter Beinart

Polls show 27 percent of Democrats would not vote for a Mormon, versus 18 percent of Republicans. There are votes in anti-Mormonism, but the Obama campaign must resist any temptation to play on it.

With just over six months before Election Day, the 2012 presidential campaign looks dull but astonishing. It’s dull because Barack Obama no longer elicits the kind of passion he did in 2008, and Mitt Romney has never elicited much passion at all. But it’s astonishing because it features an African-American and a Mormon, two of the most discriminated-against groups in American history. In the year of Romney’s birth (1947) or Obama’s (1961), the idea that a presidential election would one day pit an American of Romney’s religion versus an American of Obama’s race would have boggled the mind.

The difference is probably made up by the KKK contingent of the Democratic Party.

Isn’t it true that the Left has an issue with any religion except for radical islam or the environmentalism cult?

Well, Unitarians are OK. Jeremiah Wright faux Christianity is OK.

Prove that Mr. Obama (if that’s actually his name) was born in 1961.

Oh I'm sure they won't. HA! Romney will be labeled a Branch Davidian before it is all over.

“Democrats should remember the fear and revulsion they felt when conservatives played on Obama’s race and do everything humanly possible to prevent their party mates from doing the same.”

Hmmm. I don’t recall any of that. I recall a Republican party and a Republican presidential candidate that was scared to attack Obama at all. HRC was the only one with balls enough to raise Rev. Wright’s hateful craziness. McCain and the old media wouldn’t touch it or any other racially charged issues in the general election.

So now we have our most racist administration since Woodrow Wilson.

A person that I occasionally work with said they couldn't vote for a Mormon. But only because they had funded the anti- gay marriage vote in California! Another person spoke up and said that's probably the only reason they could vote for a Mormon! I had to bite my tongue because technically I was listening in on their conversation!

Laz,

Islam and Mormonism are very similar.....that’s why there are thousands of Muslims in Mormon Utah. ..and the outreach programs to each other are vast and wide...and have been. They do come to each others defense.

I won’t vote for Willard, that’s for sure. It’s going to be a write-in for me this year.

The headline is nonsense. Why would the Dems have an anti-Mormon problem in the election when it’s their opponent who is a Mormon? If anything, more bias against Mormons will be a bigger motivator for Dems to get out and vote against Romney.

He is a Mormon, so what..

What he is, is the inventor of Romney-care..
running against the inventor of Obama-care..

This election is a cartoon, on purpose I suppose..
Seems to be, way too many Cartoonists in Washington D.C..

I would vote for Jessica Rabbit.. i.e. Rogers wife..
Thats one HOT Toon right there..

The are going to try the Rich standard on him but Obama made his bones when John Forbes Kerry the richest person in a party to run for President to run for office.

( Ross Perot only richer).

The Forbes Family wealth started with shipping trade with China ( some say drugs)

President of Alexander Bell Telephone Company and railroads.

Then of course the Billion dollars from the Heinez Fortune he married into and made him the richest Politican.

Those anti Mormon groups in the Democratic Party is different,I think, from the anti Mormon in the Republican Party. The former sees Mormons as anti gay religious zealots, while the latter is against them on religious ground.

“I won’t vote for Willard, that’s for sure. It’s going to be a write-in for me this year.”

Why not save yourself the trouble of actually having to “write-in” a name and just pull the lever for 0bama?

Wake up. There is way too much at stake this time around. A third party vote is a vote for a Communist America.

I took the same stance as you when I wrote in Duncan Hunter/John Bolton in 2008 and look where that got us!

I’m hoping that the surgeons can stitch my tongue back together after I vote for the GOP candidate.

America cannot survive 4 more years of the Communist/Marxist 0bama and you know it.

The Mormons have a race problem, but it's dwarfed by the Democrat Party. The Democrats were founded by slaveowners, the costliest war in American History (over 700,000 killed) was because a few Democrats were too lazy to pick their own cotton, when Republicans freed the slaves, Democrats put them in quasi-slavery for another 100 years under Jim Crow, and the Klan attacks against blacks didn't stop until blacks became a reliable Democrat party vote in the 1970's (look for a revival of the KKK when the the GOP starts getting at least 30% of the black vote).

No black man has ever been lynched by a Republican, and no black woman has ever been raped by a Republican.

I imagine the official Øbama campaign probably will be trying very hard not to come off as anti-Mormon, for fear of creating a "pro-Mormon sympathy vote" among other religious minority groups like Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and even Muslims -- most of whom otherwise would be in the tank for President Zero.

On the other hand, the unofficial Dhimmi campaign staff -- MSNBC, DU, Media Matters, Kos, NYT, etc. -- may well go full-bore anti-Mormon, at least in the beginning. If this tactic seems to work against Romney in the polls, the attacks will probably increase. But then, there's always the chance of a backlash. Only time will tell.
