Democrats Have Bigger Anti-Mormon Problem in Election Than GOP Has
TheDailyBeast ^ | 4/23/2012 | Peter Beinart

Polls show 27 percent of Democrats would not vote for a Mormon, versus 18 percent of Republicans. There are votes in anti-Mormonism, but the Obama campaign must resist any temptation to play on it.

With just over six months before Election Day, the 2012 presidential campaign looks dull but astonishing. It’s dull because Barack Obama no longer elicits the kind of passion he did in 2008, and Mitt Romney has never elicited much passion at all. But it’s astonishing because it features an African-American and a Mormon, two of the most discriminated-against groups in American history. In the year of Romney’s birth (1947) or Obama’s (1961), the idea that a presidential election would one day pit an American of Romney’s religion versus an American of Obama’s race would have boggled the mind.

I took the same stance as you when I wrote in Duncan Hunter/John Bolton in 2008 and look where that got us! I’m hoping that the surgeons can stitch my tongue back together after I vote for the GOP candidate. America cannot survive 4 more years of the Communist/Marxist 0bama and you know it.

This really makes no sense. You wouldn't vote for McCain who at least had some remaining conservatism (admittedly, not much) but you will vote for Romney who has never had a conservative impulse in his life? There is not a single aspect of Mitt Romney's record which give conservatives any hope we have ally in Romney.

If Romney wins the general election, the conservative movement is dead until 2020. If you think the GOP-e is hostile to the conservative wing of the Republican Party, wait until Romney gets to put his people in the power positions in the Republican Party. With these people in place, there is no chance of a conservative primary challenger unseating the incumbent Romney in 2016.

Romney, if elected, will also contaminate the Congress. The Tea Party conservatives will actively oppose Obama. As history has shown, they will become lapdogs for a President of their party. Since there is little separation in political views between Romney and Obama, it is quite possible that Romney with a cooperative Congress will accomplish more of the liberal agenda than Obama would in a second term.

Enough with the scare tactics. I'm long enough in the tooth to have heard them many times before. Frankly, if our nation is so fragile that Barak Obama could destroy it in four more years, it was doomed anyway. Besides if our nation is that far gone, there is no way that Mitt Romney is going to save it.

I'm not going to vote for one turd because it stinks a little less than the other turd. Bottom line: both are still turds. My conscience will be perfectly clear in not voting for either one.

Two words.

1: Supreme

2: Court

Do you not think that the person you help get elected (0bama) by voting third party won’t stack the Supremes with liberal leftist Communist/Marxist/Socialist lesbians and an openly gay judge? You watch and you will see that I speak the truth.

You do make some good points. In fact, I made the same ones in 2008. You made my point for me and I thank you for that. My ‘taking a stand’ and writing in Hunter/Bolton didn’t work out so well.

Even McCain would have been better than 0bama, albeit, not by much. I’ve learned my lesson at America’s expense so that I could have a “perfectly clear conscience”. Never again. I’ll suffer through 4 years of Romney before I see our Constitution completely shredded under 0bama and America enslaved under Totalitarianism/UN/NWO control.

It sucks that there are times when we must sacrifice our own personal feelings, our pride, our conscience in order to fight again another day.

Voting for RINO-Romney is only an attempt to kick the can down the road until we can find a real Conservative to run against him. We know exactly what we’ll get with 0bama, we are not sure what to expect from Romney, but I damn well know he ain’t no Communist and he loves his, OUR country.

0bama HATES everything America stands for, everything.

I never implied that Romney will “save” the GOP. In my opinion, they have moved way too far to the left already.

And yes, my friend, America is at the crossroads and is very fragile at this time. Look around you...15 Trillion in debt and rising as we speak, UN taking over US policies and dictating to us how we live our lives. I could go on forever on how 0bama has damaged our country in just 3.5 years. Another four would be the end of 90% of our remaining freedoms.

It will be so-called Republicans that allow 0bama to serve, .....oops, I mean rule, for a second term, thus plunging us into a territory we have never witnessed.

I won’t vote for Romney nor Obama....they are one in the same....both want to take this nation in a direction our founders never ever desired.

One is a Marxist the other a cultist/globalist with a political agenda all it’s own. That’s a no vote for each.

I’ll do a write in as well.

So won't Romney....the difference is we know Obamas plan...Romney's still hiding his...he isn't President yet so he'll continue to deceive the masses. It his nature to do so until he's firmly positioned.

America is at the crossroads and is very fragile at this time.

"Hanging by a thread" sounds all too familiar for the informed.

America's was hanging there in 2008 as well. That was when this trajectory could have been haulted. Now we're stuck with Romney and his true political agenda he hides ...but he won't be able to do so long.

Any one who votes for Romney will be voting for something they are fully unaware of...deception works and is Romneys very nature.

Either way, the nation is damaged. Look at the total losers that Romney appointed in Massachusetts. We'd be lucky if Romney will give us a Souter. With either man in office, the conservatives will have to create a groundswell and get Congress involved to block the losers which both men will put forward.

Concerning an Obama second term, let me ask you this question: What President in the modern era accomplished more of his agenda in the second term than in the first? I honestly can't think of one. Lots of Democrats have soured on Obama and even if he wins re-election, he will not have a united party behind him. I think that Obama will be pretty ineffectual in his second term. You're seeing Democrats, for self-preservation, distancing themselves from Obama and it will only grow in the second term even if he is re-elected.

I understand why you are voting for Romney - I just can't bring myself to do it. Frankly, I think your timing was off in 2008 but the logic applied in not voting for the Republican nominee is sound. When Romney takes his predictable dive to the left in the general election campaign, re-think your position and vote your conscience.
