A Catholic ‘war on women’ {Barf alert/liberal tripe}
Washington Post ^ | 24 April 2012 | Sally Quin

Posted on 04/24/2012 11:11:40 PM PDT by Cronos

...The Roman Catholic Church is a hierarchical institution if there ever was one.. this time the Pope has gone too far.

... they supported the White House over health care reform, lining up against the bishops. . they had the audacity to compromise with President Obama on the issue of birth control mandates in employers’ health-care programs. Finally, they have not been outspoken enough on gay marriage and abortion.

...These bishops ... have chosen Seattle Archbishop Peter Sartain to lead the “reform.” Sartain recently asked priests in his archdiocese to sign a petition condemning gay marriage. Several refused. But if Pope Benedict is called “God’s rottweiler” then Sartain is the pitbull of the American Catholic Church.

...That those in charge of the Catholic Church are all celibate men already eliminates the possibility of justice. Women are not allowed to be priests

...It’s no wonder so many Catholics are leaving the church. They go longing for spirituality and they get dogma. A young friend of mine raised Catholic by nuns, wanted to return to the church and decided to go Easter Sunday. In the end she couldn’t go, she said, because by walking into the church she felt she would be condoning the handling of the sexual abuse scandal, health care reform, the issues of contraception, abortion rights (even in the case of the life of the mother) and gay marriage

...The nuns are facing the worst possible conundrum. Do they stay in a church that vilifies and condemns them, tells them where they can speak and what they can say, disrespects them and does not value what they do? Do they leave the church? Or do they stay and fight for their rightful place in the church, turn into “radical feminists” and take on the boys’ club?

Standard Liberal hit piece That those in charge of the Catholic Church are all celibate men already eliminates the possibility of justice. Women are not allowed to be priests

And this one... she would be condoning the handling of the sexual abuse scandal, health care reform, the issues of contraception, abortion rights (even in the case of the life of the mother) and gay marriage -- at the end she gets to the point. If this "friend" wants gay marriage and baby-killing "rights", she can go to the ECUSA. Buh-bye... oh and with regards to the last line, I sure hope these baby-kiling supporting "nuns" decide to leave the Church.

The author has also written Could it be that he has dreams of becoming a cardinal, or, perhaps envisions white smoke in his future? with regards to Sartain - the "pitbull of the Church" who is anti-gay marriage and strongly anti-abortion. I hope she's right on this matter! And also that the "nuns" quit the Church.

The author has also written I’m not a Catholic but when I attend services I want to feel holy and spiritual and uplifted. I want to feel the transcendent, the divine. I want to be reassured of the goodness of the world and not the evil.

and she doesn't think that baby-killing or homosexuality is evil? Warped...

From the article: “What have these silly, recalcitrant women been doing with themselves? Burning bras? Marching in the streets? No. They have been ministering to the poor, the sick, the young and helpless, “the least of these,” as Jesus Christ so mercifully put it.”

That is their calling and they should stick to it. A calling to serve is a privilege and honor at no stage, however, does doing it well allow you to step outside of that calling and poke your nose in to where it is not allowed.

The Catholic Church is historically the only church that held women in esteem enough to give them positions in a church allowing them to serve God in Holy Orders. These women need to act in greater humility according to their service.

Just cleaning out the convents like Benedict XCI sent a team a few years back to clean out the seminaries. Now the seminaries are overflowing with young men who want to be priests.

Stay tuned — in ten years the convents will be overflowing with young vibrant women in habits who want to serve God through prayer and service.

To quote the author:

I’m not a Catholic but when I attend services I want to feel holy and spiritual and uplifted. I want to feel the transcendent, the divine. I want to be reassured of the goodness of the world and not the evil.

I think you miss the point of Mass, missy.

Worshiping God isn't about you.

Key words... "I'm not a Catholic BUT...".

Another media attack on a Christian religion, yet they cannot find it within themselves to criticize those faiths that truly enslave and marginalize women.... i.e., Islam.

The thing is that they want to change the church by making us support baby killing etc.

Those who see the Church as some sort social do gooders are often disappointed when the Church shows that it about belief/faith first.

"Gone too far."

Has WaPo EVER used this term on Dick Obama. Or ANY liberal, for that matter?

Or has ANY liberal news source EVER used this term on Dick Obama or ANY liberal?

I was a a retreat center run by nuns and I thought I was at some new-age/socialist/liberation training center. The literature on the racks was disgusting.

Fortunately the speaker wasn’t one of them.

My cousin was a Nun for many years. She got out when they dropped the habits and modernised.

How does Protestant Sally Quinn know that those Catholics that attend Mass don’t feel uplifted and holy and spiritual? She might discover all of these things if she ever set foot inside a Catholic church on a Sunday morning instead of nursing all of her hangovers from the Saturday night Georgetown cocktail parties she attended the night before.

But searching for spiritual well-being isn’t part of her agenda and futile attempt to attack and bring down Christ and His church.
