Howdy everyone!!

Looks like a man who has no conservative accomplishments whatsoever (actually, no REPUBLICAN accomplishments whatsoever) is going to get the GOP nomination. A man whose record virtually matches Obama's in every respect, right down to his very own government mandated socialist compulsory health insurance program.

What were they thinking? It's going to be an interesting election season, but then we live in interesting times.

To the RINO GOP:

I'm not going to campaign for this phony empty suit. Not going to cheerlead for a man with an abortionist, homosexualist, statist record. Cannot possibly vote for him. But y'all gotta do what y'all gotta do. I'm not going to stand in the way of dumping the Marxist.

Do you remember when we had three channels, a PBS channel and a UHF channel ? That was some great TV.

Channel 38 here in Boston was great, mostly because of the Movie Loft.

Those were the days. :)

What I don’t understand is how this election can be anybody’s idea of fair. I understand there are still 14 states that haven’t even held their primaries yet—that means people in those states haven’t had a chance to vote yet

This gets on my nerves too. A significant amount of voters are disenfranchised because the nominee is usually already chosen by the time the primaries roll around to them. People in places like Texas and California basically have no say in who our nominees are and there is no reason for this.

I have been advocating for years that we have three "national" primary elections in years we are choosing a president. I put "national" in quotes because what I am really advocating is 50 separate state primaries held three times on the same day.

For example, the first primary should be held in early February. This primary is non-binding. Those who are able to garner 10% or more of the delegates move on to the second primary. This will weed out the "fringe" candidates. Also, all the delegates are now released for the second primary. Ideally, 3-5 candidates from will move on.

The second "national" primary should be held in mid April. This will give the remaining candidates about 10 weeks to campaign. In this primary, 50% of the delegates in each state will be up for grabs and so long as a candidate wins at least 25% of the vote in a given state, they will be apportioned delegates on a proportional basis and they will be binding - that is to say that the candidates will take these delegates to the convention. Any delegates receiving less than 25% in a given primary will in effect be "washed out" and will get nothing for that state. This will ideally narrow the field to 2-3 candidates as those with a very low total of delegates will likely run out of money and drop out at this stage.

This will set us up for the third and final primary (to be held in June) in which the other 50% of the available delegates will be awarded proportionally. Again, a candidate needs to get at least 25% of the vote in a given state to be awarded delegates. By now, we should have produced a candidate with enough delegates to be nominated at the convention.

I know I probably made this sound more complicated than it really is but this is really an elegant way to choose a nominee while giving every voter in the country an equal say in the process.

With regard to the Freepathons, I think that monthly donations are the way to go. If we have enough monthly donators, the Freepathons should be able to be reduced or even eliminated. Not that I'm complaining about Freepathons but I'm sure this takes up a lot of people's time.

I have a suggestion that may or may not have been made before. What if we were to do something special for the monthly donators, such as putting their names in bold red in the forum? For dollar a day donators, we could go a step further and maybe put a special symbol next to their name to make them really stand out.

Maybe there is a reason we can't do this that I'm not aware of but it would be really nice if we could. I think it would motivate a lot of people to be a monthly donator because they'd want to see their names in bold red as well - marking them as regular contributors.

Anyway, just a suggestion. And not entirely an unselfish one as my name would be one of those lit up in bold red with a special symbol next to it!

Keep up the good fight. I'm still undecided on whether I'm going to leave the presidential ballot blank this year or suck it up and check off Romney's name. But what I will do is show up and vote conservative in all the other races. Here in Massachusetts, there will be some good conservatives running in my precinct - Jon Golnick for Congress and Sandy Martinez for state senator, to name two of them. Then there's Scott Brown...now that's another cross for me to bear. It's tough being a conservative in Massachusetts!
