Obama 'angry' over inappropriate behavior in Colombia

President Obama is "angry" now that allegations against Secret Service agents hiring prostitutes in Colombia has proven to be true, White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Wednesday.

"Of course he is angry about what he made clear even on that Sunday in Colombia was inappropriate behavior, behavior that is not acceptable for people who work for the U.S. government or representing the American people abroad," Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One, as Obama traveled from Colorado to Iowa.

But Carney said the actions of a few agents "do not represent the Service as a whole."

"99 percent of the men and women who work for the Secret Service are absolute professionals," Carney said. "It's not just about protecting an individual and his family, it's about protecting the presidency, a vital function in our democracy."

Carney's comments come as three more agents were forced to leave the law enforcement agency on the heels of the scandal, where a dozen agents allegedly drank heavily and hired prostitutes ahead of Obama's trip to Colombia earlier this month.

Nine agents in total have been forced out of the agency or resigned. Three others were cleared of allegations but face administrative action, according to Secret Service assistant director Paul Morrissey.

The incident has become a distraction for the White House in recent days, as Carney and other aides have been forced to answer questions about the episode in Colombia.

The White House Counsel's office also launched a separate inquiry into the matter but found that none of the White House advance staff took part in any wrongdoing.

Obama weighed in on the scandal in an interview with late night host Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday.

"A couple of knuckleheads shouldn't detract from what they do," Obama said. "What these guys were thinking, I don't know. That's why they're not there anymore."

"These guys are incredible," the president added. "They protect me. They protect Michelle. They protect the girls. They protect our officials all around the world."

Obama 'angry' over inappropriate behavior in Colombia

1. Why is angry in quotes?

2. He is only saying this because public opinion is telling him it makes him look bad, he doesn't really give an Obama.

"99 percent of the men and women who work for the Secret Service are absolute professionals,"

So, if 14 were involved that means 1400 - 14 = 1386 (99%) "professional" agents were in Colombia.

Seems like way too many people are on the taxpayer payroll.

There's supposed to be 3200 Special Agents and 1300 Uniformed so it seems they haven't gotten rid of near all the unprofessional ones.

Wow, 4500 SS agents to protect 537 idjits in DC. Those Capitol office hallways must be crowded.

BTW: Does Congress get SS protection?

I don't believe Congress gets SS protection except under certain circumstances such as threats, etc.

Only guessing but they may when they go out of country on some “fact finding” junkets, er paid world travel.

I don’t think Leo Ryan had SS Protection when he went to Jonestown.

I'm pretty sure you're correct about Ryan, as I remember they were sitting ducks.

do you think he approved or got angry over William Clinton's action in the Oval office?

funny how all Bill's tricks with the ladies got swept under the rug and forgotten and he is now considered a Great President..

how times have changed...

I’d bet money Zer0 didn’t give a whit what Billy Boy was nailed for and was ticked because he was impeached.

You’re correct, times have changed drastically with Rats and Obama.

He’s mad because they didn’t find him compliant boys and adolescent men to bugger along with some premium cocaine to snort.
