MOBILE, Alabama -- Wednesday 2:25 p.m. Terry Rawls did not say a word to News 5 and other media outlets as police took him from police headquarters to a patrol car.
Rawls has an extensive criminal history in Mobile and Baldwin counties including assault, burglary, theft and cocaine possession.
Rawls lives on Delmar Drive at the same house where we talked to an angry mother who claims the kids are the real victims.

I’ve read reports that Owens also is a thug. With a long arrest history. And the feuding between these two idiots goes back several years.

Owen is an idiot, BUT: He called them a bunch of names and yelled at them, so that somehow makes them the victem when they beat the living hell out of him? Isn’t that like blaming a women for rape because she wore a cute outfit? These thugs need a beat down themselves along with jail time.
Owens chased those kids off with a butter knife.
In a sense - he’s lucky they came back with chairs and paint cans.
And in a bigger sense - THEY are lucky Owens didn’t go for his guns.
This article goes on to report Owens and his neighbors have been feuding and fighting for years.
Owens reminds me of a white guy that goes into a bar on MLK Jr. Drive and starts telling racist jokes.
The article makes the white beating victim out to be a criminal. The article also alleges victim Owens had no reason to be angry with the neighborhood kids.
But large numbers of them blocked off the whole street and more or less had large basketball games in his front yard, more or less.
Would that bother a normal person? Almost certainly.
Yes. Let’s not blame the victim here for getting beaten. Even if he was stupid, the pigs that beat him need a correction. Fast.
Here the background of the victim somewhat mitigates his beating but even the local media say the severity was way too much. Nevertheless, a background check for FACTS somewhat lessened racial tensions.
Where that true in all cases without exception it would be better than cherry-bomb journalism's approach to race relations when the crime is white on black: If at first it don't seethe try, try anything to make it seethe.

The article also says something about the black kids going into Owens' sister's yard to get their basketball, and that Owens chased them off with the butter knife. Rather than knock at the door and politely ask permission to get their ball back, these black hoodlums trespassed. I agree with you, they're lucky Owens did not have more than a butter knife.
