PHOENIX (Reuters) - A defiant killer who asked for no mercy, shunned a clemency hearing and railed against immigrants at his sentencing was put to death by lethal injection in Arizona on Wednesday for kidnapping and killing a Hispanic college student in 1992, officials said.

Thomas Kemp, 63, was pronounced dead at 10:08 a.m. local time at the state prison in Florence, about 60 miles southeast of Phoenix, a state official said. His last words were: "I regret nothing."

"I regret nothing."

Well... OK. Step to Hell, please.

Thomas Kemp, 63, was pronounced dead at 10:08 a.m.—His last words were: “I regret nothing.”

And then at 10:08 a.m. and 5 seconds his next words were, “Holy SH!T”.

I’ve never understood why remorse is supposed to make a difference. When seeking release from prison, okay. Because in the old days it was a “penitentiary,” and you’re supposed to be penitent, and nowadays it’s all about rehabilitation, and regret is part of rehab. But for crimes that justify the death penalty, there’s no penitence, nor is there rehab. Because dead men can’t regret.

If the argument is that the deciding factor between going to prison or going to the grave is whether they’re sorry, I’m sorry, but that’s sorry. That should never, ever decide the issue, to my mind. Base the punishment on the crime, not how they feel afterwards.

Why does it matter if he regrets it? Why should his “feelings” matter? Punish him for what he did, not how he feels. ....

Libtards, they have child-like minds; but they never grow up.

The Texas Department of Corrections has lots of interesting stuff on their website...including the last statements of those executed there. It's surprising,to me at least, how many of them express remorse for their acts.Yes,some claim innocence to the very end but many do pretty much the opposite.

Good riddance to *this* punk.

I think it is because we are looking for evidence that they are still human in some way.

Sadly a lot of them are simply demons in human form.

Kemp, who acted with an accomplice, was sentenced to death in 1993 for snatching Hector Soto Juarez from outside his Tucson apartment, taking him to a mine northwest of the city and forcing him to disrobe. Juarez was shot fatally in the head.

At his 1993 sentencing, Kemp said his only regret was not killing an accomplice and unleashed a tirade against Mexican immigrants and the legal system, saying his victim was "beneath my contempt."

"If more of them wound up dead, the rest of them would soon learn to stay in Mexico, where they belong," Kemp said at his sentencing, according to court documents. "I spit on the law and all those who serve it."

I have seen this sort of rhetoric more than once right here on FR.

I guess the race of the victim was important now that the perp was white. Note how AP and Reuters leave that part out in the reverse. Agitation by design.

“I think it is because we are looking for evidence that they are still human in some way.”

Who says it’s “human” to feel regret? Plenty of humans do evil things all the time without showing remorse. What’s so great about being “human,” anyway? it’s better than being a dog, yes. But there are billions of humans, and presumably any number of them are evil. I want to be better than merely human. I want to be a good human.

Why is it necessary to mention the victim was Hispanic?

Hey, if he doesn’t have any regrets why should we
at putting him down. Some dogs NEED killing.

“Next!”

When I was ten, my father was getting in the farm jeep
and there was a dog in the back that wouldn’t move,
first he growled at my dad, then he bit him.
My father didn’t hesitate a second , he had a mattock
in his hand and he planted it right in the top of
that dogs head. I had to take him down to the low
grounds and dump him out but later my mom pitched
a fit so had to go back and cut off his head to take
to pathology.
That dog had it coming, he CROSSED THE LINE in the
social compact between dog and man, just like this
guy.

19 years to execute this worthless pos?
Last week a murderer in Florida was executed after nearly 30 years.
Too damn long. Should take about 18 months including appeals.

His last words were: “I regret nothing.”

Last words here.
His first words at his next location were “Oh crap, I really screwed up!”
