Rick Perry Endorses Mitt Romney

Texas Gov. Rick Perry originally endorsed Newt Gingrich as the top candidate after dropping out of the Republican presidential race.

But with Gingrich set to quit the campaign trail, Perry on Wednesday evening gave his support to the probable nominee, Mitt Romney.

"Mitt Romney has earned the Republican presidential nomination through hard work, a strong organization, and [a] disciplined message of restoring America after nearly four years of failed job-killing policies from President [Barack] Obama and his administration," Perry said in a statement provided to FOX News Channel.

"So today I join the many conservative Republicans across the nation in endorsing Mitt Romney for president and pledge to him, my constituents and the Republican Party that I will continue to work hard to help defeat President Obama.

The base fought hard but we didn’t overcome the organization of the elite GOP. Now is not the time to carp about those who ran against Romney (we should thank them). They, with all their warts tried, getting kicked in the face for their efforts.

We must continue to push for conservatives on the local, state and national ticket. Put our efforts to good use. Let the GOP know the “tea party” base is pissed, out here and well aware of how this went down.

The GOP-e will know I’ve put them in a permanent “dunce corner” and will not donate to them as an organization but rather I will support people I choose to help.

“I wonder what the response here will be when Newt endoses Romney.”

You know it won’t be self-reflection and reassessment of one’s view of reality. That’s too hard. Better to just call him names and accuse him of venality.

Perry paints a turd white and tries to sell it as bread. Rick is not gop/e but he is a party republican that thinks that he has a future in National office and has to go along to get along. Palin has to do much the same. I am no longer a republican and I do not have to sell my soul for any reason. Screw mitt and anyone that promotes him on this site.

We will win the House and Senate but romney is going down... he cannot win... he is the myth... myth romney! Not only will I not vote for him... I will not give a dime to any part of the gop/e machine. I will and have been donating directly to Conservative candidates that are challenging the gop/e's iron fisted rule. Some of these people on FR do not seem to understand that they are siding with a party leadership that would rather live next door to nancy pelosi than them! Millions of us have known of this threat since before 9/11... the first words out of my mouth that morning were "osama bin laden"... to which everyone in the room said, "Who"?

We are not dependent on this failed and treasonous government to protect us. I will not vote for romney... I will vote for every Conservative down ballot... the gop/e has LOST me... I didn't leave the republican party... they left me and no threat from some rag headed, goat humper changes the fact that to vote for romney will just keep the wrong people in power and nothing in the gop will ever change. To win a war... one must fight in a war... and I am fighting. I no longer believe in or trust that anyone in this government will do anything to help this once great Republic. The LORD can help us. I bend on knee and pray for our salvation many times in a day. You put your faith in the gop and romney... I will put my faith in GOD, myself and my friends and I will NEVER vote for romney.

However ... after 4 or 8 years of a Willard "I like to Fire People" Mormon presidency ...

do you really feel that America wold be better off ?

I know that after 4 years, Willard would be "exactly" like Bush-41 ...

You know ... still searching for that "vision thing" ...

Curious why you blame the RNC? The primary was scheduled earlier but delayed by challenges to the redistricting process which delayed the primary.

Who gives a flying fig about the GOP?
I’m not a Republican and have NEVER been.

Go to GBTV. Sign up and watch the “Rumors of War III” from last night. Drop the channel and you pay nothing. Allen West and David Horowitz tell you how far this has gotten. Obama has Muslim Brotherhood in the administration. They are going to take us down. I have kids, I don’t want them living under Sharia law and that is exactly what will happen with another four years of Obama.

He ignores congress. You can have a totally conservative congress and he rules by executive orders. Along with that, the ONLY court that is with us will be “left” forever when Obama appoints another judge.

For heaven’s sake, our country will be taken down and you’ll have the ability to say, “Well at least I didn’t vote for Mitt.” Is that good? Really?

BTW, TEXAS always comes in first on every FReepathon! Dang, you're DUMB too!

What does that prove when the donations are down all over!?

Do you have a clue how many monthly donors from TX were zotted? Do you have a clue how many left voluntarily because they were just tired of the insults...many from you!

It was like a first grade playground... the insults that were being thrown at those of us who were supporting Perry. See post #55.

You might not have had a "ping list" but you and your buddies pinged each other and were like a bunch of playground bullies! Look at who you have pinged to your post about me. That is a perfect example of your MO.

I'd rather be dumb than insane and you and yours were constantly doing the same things over and over and expecting different consequences. I'm smart enough not to insult people when at the same time I'm asking them for money!...and that's what you continue to do today.

I've been on FR since Feb., 1998. It is sickening to me what has been done to FR...and you are a major contributor, along with your pal DJMacWhoever. Have you noticed that you two are the jokes of other conservative sites? Guess why!

Do you actually think that FR is better because independent thinkers have been banned? Do you really think FR is better because some of us who thought Sarah wouldn't run for POTUS and said so, were zotted?

Do you think FR is more relevant because old-time FReepers were zotted for expressing their opinions?

Psssst! Those banned FReepers are WHY JR didn't have to contemplate selling ads! So, you think FR is better off today than a year ago?

I haven't donated in the past year, IIRC. I didn't donate because I was never sure I wouldn't be banned the next day ...like so many others.

So why don't you get me banned. In your warped thinking that is what you do best and if you think FR will be better off without me, have at it. Punishment is your purpose in getting people banned and you have succeeded in helping bring FR to its knees. It won't be long before you and your pals will have to turn on each other because there won't be anybody else left to insult!

Your biggest victim is Jim Robinson and that is the saddest consequence of your idiocy!...for whatever reason he allowed it to happen.

good questions ...

there's just one problem with Mitt Romney ....

"Exactly" ... except for the secret ceremonial underwear and planet Kolob ...

what does Mitt "really" believe ?

can you answer that ?

can Mitt Romney answer that ?

what can Mitt Romney say (in his campaign speeches) besides the "extremely lame" ...

"I believe that America is great" ???

We are defined by our ACTIONS in life.

Jesus Christ said that Himself ...

"What ?" ... (an invitation to You) ...

has Mitt Romney EVER DONE ... CONSISTENTLY over the last 10 years ...

to PROVE that he's a genuine, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson ...

"Conservative" ?

Conservatives should not vote for Obama.

That’s what you are doing, no matter what kind of defensive crap you put on it.

I’ve heard all that stuff a million times and there’s not a word of truth in it.

I resent being criticized by someone who is proud of voting for Obama.

Who were you for? I bet you were for Palin (she didn’t care enough to run). I bet you ran to Herman Cain (totally unqualified and personal life questionable). I bet you then went to either Santorum or Newt and wildly criticized the one you weren’t for.

Obama tells me daily who he is. I don’t want him.

If you do, I hope you can sleep at night when he ruins our country in four more years.

Romney may not be either Ronald Reagan or Jesus Christ, but at least he’s not Obama.

Don’t even bother. I’m not gonna read it.

I pray every day. I intend now to throw in a prayer that people like you do not dominate the election.

Perry is a fine man and was the perfect candidate. People here who debased and lied about him and call him La Raza and other mature stuff were all for Gingrich who actually did have a serious plan for amnesty.

As far as national office is concerned, he has a better job where he is, but he would be a great energy secretary, better than you deserve.

Perry never did have an amnesty plan nor amnesty inentions. You are not worth what he wipes off his boots when he comes in from the field.

I wouldn’t say that except that you used the elegant phrase “screw mitt and anyone that (sic) promotes him on this site.”

I promote him and I will vote for him and so will every sane person who doesn’t want four more years of Obama.

Perry waited until Gingrich dropped out before endorsing Romney. Nothing to be ashamed of. ... Exactly. Palin, Newt, Santorum, Bachmann, and every other influential Republican will be endorsing, supporting and campaigning for him as well. That is kind of the point of a political party. Those that can't support the nominee now generally have no future within the party going forward.

For those of you who are 3rd party fringer types, the exit signs are clearly marked. For those who want to buckle in, the barf bags are in the seat in front of you in case you need it.

Even Perry recognizes the difference between a lib republican and the evil, anti-american, marxist pig in the whitehouse. Well, I hate to bring you down to reality but,

one, the dust has settled. Romney is the nominee.

and two, what conservative are you gonna campaign for?

When this election is over, one of two people will be the president.

One of them is named Obama, the other is named Romney.

There is no conservative possibility, but Romney is at least fiscally conservative, loves America and is a moral human being.

You put the words in your own post.

Wake up.

Thomas Jefferson to William Smith... 1787

“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is it's natural manure.”

I pray that it never happens... I pray for our salvation... but I depend upon no man for it. Anyone that trusts any politician, party or celebrity is setting themselves up for massive disappointment. Mark Levin talked about this yesterday. romney will change nothing... the very same international cabal that backs obama and the left are aligned with romney. Jimmy Carter all but endorsed romney yesterday. Do you have any idea as to why carter did that?

You can work for romney and give him your money and your time and efforts and promote him every day on FR... but millions of us are not going to vote for him and for absolutely valid reasons... and nothing that you can say or do will change that fact. We warned the gop since 2008... and we mean what we say. Unlike many republicans... our words actually mean something and our honor and integrity is real. No romney... no way... ever!

I'm awake. There will be a conservative candidate. And I will vote for them. And campaign for them. I don't know who that will be yet, because the primaries are not settled, even if they are for the R and D liberal parties.

I don't believe Romney is fiscally conservative, or loves America or is a moral human being. Moral human beings don't support abortion.

Say what you like. Castigate away. But know that there are plenty of conservatives that won't vote for a liberal. And Romney is a liberal.

I love Free Republic. For 15 years, it’s been probably the first site I’ve come to every day.

This primary season has brought out the worst in us.

I see a few glimmerings of hope in that more people seem to be willing to admit that they will vote for Romney, even though they know they will be verbally abused by idiot chilren, some of whom will choose to ping Jim in the hope that he will tell us to shut up.

I know Jim is bitterly disappointed about the nominee but I know he loves our country and doesn’t want Obama to run it into the ground for 4 years.

He will come around. And then, everyone will.

lonestar, I couldn’t possibly agree with you more. Texans are generally conservative and generous.

This primary has been a disaster for Free Republic. Too much verbal abuse has been tolerated and encouraged. It still hurts me to think of what was allowed here that was done to Rick Perry.

There was a ping list who went to every Perry thread and said horrible nasty vulgar things about him and also lies, of course. I complained a couple of times but not much was done.

Well, hooray, they got Perry out. The posters never had a favorite, someone who was supported by almost everyone.

Now, they attack anyone who sees reality staring them in the face.

It’s Romney or Obama.

To date, none of the ABO/Romney supporters can answer the simple questions of how voting for a man whose values are liberal is a conservative action...

I have seen numerous people who plan to vote for the GOP nominee whoever it is explain their decision calmly and rationally and respectfully on this site.

I have also frequently seen such explanations met with lies, craziness, and abuse by people whose hearts are filled with hatred.

Everyone who has surfed this site regularly over the last week or two knows this to be true.
