LOS ANGELES Henry Keith Watson remembers April 29, 1992, as if it happened just last week. History wont allow him to forget it.
It was a day that marked the beginning of one of the deadliest, most destructive race riots in the nations history, and one in which Watsons spur-of-the-moment decision to take part made him one of the enduring faces of the violence....

said the POS that should STILL be in jail!!!
The LA riots are the answer to the question “why can’t we all just get along” — posed, ironically, by Rodney King during the riots. The late George Wallace (the comic) made fun of Rodney King’s airheaded ramble.
My favorite irony and example of stupidity came from the idiot who complained — after taking part in the incineration of the mostly Asian-owned businesses — that there wasn’t anywhere to shop, no laundrymats, no liquor stores, nothing.
The next major news item which was a direct result of those riots was the acquittal of OJ.
Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.
Race relations are better because now there is only one race there...
Do they even speak English in that part of town now?
oh i thought you meant watts riots circa 1965.

As the liquor store at the intersection of Florence and Normandie was being looted and white passersby were fleeing a barrage of rocks and bottles, Denny stopped his big rig to avoid running over someone.
He was quickly dragged from the cab and nearly beaten to death by Watson and a handful of others. As the attack unfolded on live TV, Watson stepped on Dennys head after Damian Williams smashed the truckers skull in with a brick.

Asked if he feels badly about what he did to Denny, he says simply that what happened to the trucker that day was unfortunate.
But I cant take it back. Theres nothing I can do.
Watson did apologize personally to Denny some years ago, the only one of his attackers to do so. Another time he offered to send a limo to pick him up and take him to Florence and Normandie, then somewhere afterward where the two could have a drink and talk.
He says Denny, who lives quietly in Arizona these days, declined. The trucker has shunned interviews for years, and repeated attempts to contact him by mail, phone and in person for this story were unsuccessful.
He chooses to remain in private, Watson said. And we respect his privacy. So be it.
Watson is obviously a great humanitarian for moving past his near fatal beating of Denny, whereas Denny is obviously a racist for not forgiving Watson and his “caught-up-in-the-moment” accomplices. What more needs to be said by WaPo?
What’s good for the goose...
Why should that have changed? ;’)
Most of the blacks headed east bound, to the CA inland empire, Texas, Georgia, Illinois etc.
One of the reasons why crime in LA has been dropping dramatically since 1992.

They took the midnight train to Georgia so to speak.
I would say it's the main reason. It's also why crime in Texas has not fallen anywhere near as much as in the rest of the country, despite a combo of stiffer penalties and increased policing. In 2010, California's per capita violent crime rate was 40% of its 1992 level, whereas Texas's was 55%.
I didn't say that.

Agree.
We wanted jobs around here, we wanted respect and we didnt get none of that. And then the police just harassed us all the time, says Sharon McSwain, who for 22 of her 45 years has lived within walking distance of the intersection where Denny was attacked.”
Does this idiot not realize that respect is earned. Sitting around demanding it won’t get it for you. You have to do things that garner respect.
BTW, some folk get me wrong about Texas. Texas is a great state, as CA once was until turning into a very controlling, punitive state. This is what happens when government becomes too big, too controlling, too intrusive.

There’s an author who discusses this very thing. I cannot remember his name right now, but he wrote a very excellent treatise on why it’s bad to have “diversity”. It gives rise to genocide and that points of conflict are political borders that poorly define ethnicities.

A lot of these short bus riders are under the impression that the retail trade has margins in excess of fifty cents per dollar spent, when the real amount is in the low single digits. Which is why so many of the retailers did not bother to rebuild. Those who had adequate insurance essentially got bought out by the insurance company. Those without adequate insurance did not have the capital to rebuild. I'm betting large numbers got cleaned out because of inadequate insurance because they never thought anything like the riots would ever occur in the US of A.
To be honest, I don’t need any demographic data, to understand what has occurred in the U.S. in the past 40 years.
The way I look at it, intuition is little more than superstition until supported by hard data.
One not need ‘hard data’ to understand what they see all around them.
Don’t believe me? Call just about any fatcorp/government office, and be prepared to press 1 for English.
According to a recent TV news report, Denny suffered permanent brain damage and has difficulty speaking and walking.
I'm guessing the WaPo slimeball who wrote this piece made minimal efforts to contact Denny, given that such contact would have made his hero, Watson, look like the heel he is.
Texas also got the majority of the Katrina refugees from NOLA, which certainly didn’t help their crime rate.

The 1990 census shows CA with a 7.4% black population, compared to 5.6% in 2010. In that time frame, TX has gone from 11.9% to 11.8%
Are you suggesting the black pop in TX has dropped by a tiny fraction?
I heard.
Are you suggesting the black pop in TX has dropped by a tiny fraction?
And if so, your conclusion is what?
Fact is, Texas has about double the black population of California, and one of the big factors why crime is so high in Texas.
No?

What I was pointing out is that at the peak of the cocaine wars in 1992, TX (800 violent crime incidents per 100K people) had a lower crime rate than CA (1100 similar incidents), but this kind of went south with the migration to TX of blacks from CA and other states, including LA. TX used to be safer than CA back when TX had 11.9% to CA’s 7.4% black population. Now that it’s 11.8% to 5.6%, TX is about neck and neck (450 violent incidents per 100K people) compared to CA (440 similar incidents).
My guess is that the black influx into the state (along with that of the Latin American illegals) also helped to crater test scores - something that Texas Democrats never tire of bringing up whenever Rick Perry’s name is mentioned.
Hmmm. Lets look at two big cities.
Chart shown is a statistical comparison of the crime rates per 100,000 people. Based on the final 2006 FBI Crime Statistics.
Latest 2006 Crimes per 100,000 People:
| Dallas, TX | Los Angeles, CA | National | ||
| Murder: | 15 | 12.4 | 7 | |
| Forcible Rape: | 53.28 | 27.3 | 32.2 | |
| Robbery: | 553.9 | 370 | 205.8 | |
| Aggravated Assault: | 584.2 | 377.2 | 336.5 | |
| Burglary: | 1734.7 | 524.8 | 813.2 | |
| Larceny Theft: | 4006.4 | 1539.2 | 2601.7 | |
| Vehicle Theft: | 1116 | 654.4 | 501.5 |
|
Those are big city figures where the ratio of blacks in CA vs blacks in TX is much more lopsided. Dallas is 25% black vs LA’s 10%. Statewide crime stats are about the same for CA and TX, as I pointed out in my links earlier in the thread.
That would be the links at this post:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2876585/posts?page=13#13
Could I see the specific link for that?
Oh, I see...
No matter how ya chop it up, Texas has higher crime rates per capita, than CA.
BTW, I looked at your links, which are difficult to read as they do not show comparisons on one page.
Switching back and forth, looking at the crime stats you provided, crimes such as burglary and auto theft etc., are *substantially higher in Texas than CA.
While I don’t have any sources, I know I have read that white students in TX are about the same as white students in WI or MN. So much for the Rick Perry nonsense from the Dems.
A sad story about how excessive concern for one's fellow man - not running over rioters - can have serious life-altering consequences. The lack of real remorse from the black perps is simply staggering. They view their victims much as a lion views a zebra.
