HARPER WOODS, Mich. (WJBK) -- In Harper Woods, a police officer becomes the prime witness to a fatal shooting. It happened in an alley off Kelly Road overnight.
The alleged shooter is in jail. Police tell us that they will hold him for 72 hours while a decision is made on whether charges will be filed. The problem is this person could also be a potential victim.
A Harper Woods police officer says that he saw a couple walking in a dark alley and a man following them. That did not sit right with this officer, so he turned his car around and followed them. That's when this officer witnessed the man who was part of the couple shoot and kill the guy that was following them.
A working theory by police is that the man who was shot and killed was possibly about to rob the couple.
Witnesses told us that this couple had just left the ATM and after that is when they were followed.
The man who was shot was pronounced dead at the hospital. He was in his thirties. He is still at the morgue and his identity has not been released.
The couple was taken into custody. The woman was later released. The man, who police say pulled the trigger, is still behind bars.
We're also hearing rumors from witnesses and police that there was possibly a second man with the guy who was killed that fled the scene. There are also some questions about where the gun came from and whether the gun belonged to the man that was killed.
Grosse Pointe Woods is the next domino to fall.
And this is a serious news story? Give me a break!
Bare minimum of facts and no real continuity of story and timeline. The reporter should be fired or sent back for remedial training in how to write.
Who wrote this?
This is good. It indicates the defender probably followed the rule about not talking to the police in the absence of a lawyer.
Reads like a screen play...a very very bad screen play.
Pretty much the only fact in this story.
That must have been after “Harper Valley PTA” folded..LOL
My last home in Detroit, on Moross, was east of Kelly, and west of Harper. What a cesspool it is, now.
Living in northwest Michigan, north of Traverse City,is a dream, compared to there.
I took refuge here near Pensacola in the Great State of Alabama.
I agree with you. Reading this was a waste of time.
It seems it is no longer “how to write” but what to write to praise 0 or slam crackers.
Why would a couple walk down a dark alley?
Do they live there , was it a short cut, was she a prostitute?
Were they all of the same race? Well That shouldn’t matter, but somehow in court it will.
Was the victim a Voyeur or a thief?
Too many questions, not enough answers.
I used to live up your way outside Evart. These days I’m in the southeastern corner of Jackson county and its not terrible.
Short cut home from the ATM.......
The reality of that area is that any shortcut is better than the long route in the same neighborhood.
In this case I would say-—No.
I grew up in Flint, now reside in Grand Haven. I don’t even visit that side of the state anymore. Not much there except poverty and crime.
