Justice Scalia Shares Gun Love with Justice Kagan on Hunting Trip
guns.com ^ | 26 April, 2012 | dabneybailey

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has found himself a new enthusiastic hunting partner in fellow Justice Elena Kagan. We know what you're thinking: "Wait a second, isn't Kagan that new judge Obama appointed?" Yep, that's the one. We're just as surprised (and delighted) as you are.

We have to give some kudos to Scalia, but it looks as though we have Sen. James Risch of Idaho to ultimately thank for this fortunate turn of events. Back in 2010 when Obama nominated Kagan for the Supreme Court position, Risch asked Kagan about her views on gun rights. She admitted that she'd never fired a gun before, but made a promise to go hunting with Scalia if she were confirmed.

Kagan kept her promise and went on a hunting trip with her philosophical opposite. The pair took a quick trip to a Virginia shooting range, followed by a hunting trip in the Washington area. When asked about the experience, Kagan replied, "It turns out, it's really good fun." The pair are planning on hunting again in Montana this October.

We can't be certain if Justice Scalia was motivated by political reasons or simply by a desire to find a new hunting pal, but we're not complaining. Another Supreme Court justice discovering her newfound love of guns is music to our ears. It's all a bit ironic considering that Kagan came off as a unsympathetic to gun rights a few years ago. As it turns out, all it took to get her to change her mind about guns was to actually pick one up.

So in other words, if we don’t kill them, they just live forever? Sorry, but I grew up on a ranch and watched animals being born, dying, and being converted to meat on a daily basis. I’ve also had the good fortune to hunt game from Alaska to Zimbabwe, trust the opinion of someone who knows. Nature deals out death in a far more cruel method than any hunter does.

Ever see a pack of wolves eat the left hip from a caribou while they are still alive? I have. I am also the biggest animal lover in the world, in a couple hours I’ll be working cattle horseback in the cutting pen, later I’ll have a Belgian Mali sleeping with my wife and I. Your last line is typical also, since you don’t eat meat, you don’t think anyone else should. By the same token, I ride a HD, so should I think riding a Honda should be illegal? Immoral?

You will never experience raising as many animals as I have, nor save the lives of as many as I have, but somehow not eating meat makes you special?

Surely you know that there would be no wild big game animals in the US without conservation efforts by hunters?

kudos |ˈk(y)oōˌdōs; -ˌdōz; -ˌdäs| noun praise and honor received for an achievement. ORIGIN late 18th cent.: Greek. USAGE Kudos comes from Greek and means ‘glory.’ Despite appearances, it is not a plural form. This means that there is no singular form kudo and that use as a plural, as in the following sentence, is incorrect: : he received many kudos for his work (correct use is : he received much kudos for his work).

Never mind the electrons. How about the thousands of critters that are killed or maimed in the production of one cup of green tea? Or any other vegetable product?

So, if more than one person got kudos, wouldn’t that be the giving of kudoses?

I wouldn’t hold that against her either. I was just making a joke about her petite size which I think was true long before she got cancer.

Talk about gullible! Does anybody *really* believe that this means that Kagan is pro 2nd Amendment??? If so,google the name Carl Rowan to find out what *she* actually thinks about it.

Only Party members may have guns. Armed peasants are dangerous, Comrade. They won’t like the upcoming pogroms and Five Year Plans and must be incapable of counter-revolutionary resistance.

A properly place arrow usually kills more quickly than a bullet does. You seem to have been fed a lot of nonsense about hunting from someone.

I don’t think so. Such a word does not appear to exist in any dictionary that I could find.

So kudos would be a word like moose? (No such thing as two mooses.)

I grew up with people who hunted animals for food.
Once.I was driving behind a car with the trunk open and a dead deer in the back. I know it goes on all the time.
I just feel sorry for the deer.

Wouldn’t it be great if Kagan and Sotomayor turned out to be as big a disappointment to the left that Souter and O’Connor were to the right?

Yeah, she is kind of small grandmotherly looking. Definitely not a 12 gauge shooter. Have to be 20 gauge.

"I don’t know anyone who kills for food nowadays."

So -- you bite your steaks right off of the living cow? Or -- are you a "vegan"?

In either case, your world is too small -- and filled with citiwusses...

Never happens to residents of California.

I thought it was kind of a funny picture. Also the idea of Kagan and Scalia chasing quail to catch by hand. I think those two are a little horizontally challenged to ever get close to one.

" Real men hunt with their hands and teeth. We should ban guns....”

She maybe actually be safe on gun's rights here. Kagen's first date with her "partner" was at an NRA sponsered "Women's Day" shoot.

Of course she's a liberal so it might as well end up as Guns for me but not for thee" attitude...

That seems like a good example. “Deer” as well.
