Gamechanger: Romney once saved a dog’s life

You can thank BuzzFeed’s Andrew Kaczynski for the front-page thumbnail. In all seriousness, this is a “gamechanger” in the literal sense of that term. Axelrod and his pals are playing a breathtakingly stupid game with the “dog wars” and this anecdote will in fact change voters’ perceptions if/when it enters wider media circulation. Romney 2012: Because “dog” plus “water” does not equal “stew.”

Oh, almost forgot. He and his sons saved a bunch of people too during this same incident.

“We heard a whole bunch of screaming,” said Josh Romney, who immediately hopped onto his Jet Ski. “We tore out of there and my dad hopped on the other Jet Ski and came out right after us.”

Roughly 300 yards out onto the lake, six adult family members and their dog were floundering in the water, after their boat suddenly sprung a huge leak — sinking in less than 90 seconds, Josh said…

In the middle of the rescue, the governor actually took a dunking himself — thrown off the Jet Ski as one anxious boater scrambled aboard and tipped the craft off-balance.

The rescuing Romneys also managed to snatch the family dog, McKenzie, from a watery grave — grabbing the Scottish terrier first because it was the only passenger without a lifejacket.

“It looked like it wasn’t going to last much longer,” said Josh, who held the waterlogged pooch on the ride back to shore.

It was cruel. Ask the dog. And leave those baby seals alone!

This was Mitt’s ignorance. It seems grossly out of character for him to be mean to the family dog on purpose with kids in tow. Ten tons of flak later, he has surely learned his lesson about dogs.

The dog eating story hits me as really odd because Muslims would never do that.

_Keep the dog’s head inside the car._
Period.

Did you not read the links or are you just not listening?

If you want somebody to “back you up” because you want to endanger your dog’s eyesight in spite of all evidence and advice to the contrary, I doubt you’re going to find a whole lot of takers.

There *are* no “other things”.

I shocked that you would look for an ‘alternative” considering what’s at stake.

I hope you have money.

Getting Djini’s corneal ulcers *starting* to heal was well over $1000 to a animal eye specialist and the monthly eye meds she has to have every day for the rest of her life_ are so expensive_ you can’t imagine.

If you don’t like Doggles, they make these.

“and normal eyeglasses”

Automatic disqualification.

You had eye protection, albeit poor eye protection.

Can you imagine the time and expense of creating helmet and visors properly formed for all the myriad breeds?

It’s just not feasible.

Sort of like how he hunted often.

Twice.

I’m sure this will be walked back to, “The Governor one fed a dog.”

In my case it’s not a dog. It’s a cat. And the cat has shown no interested in wanting to loll in the wind.

So all of this was totally pointless?

Good.

I’ll remember that.

On the upside, hopefully it gave some insight to all the dog owners reading this thread.

Bye.

Oh, meow.

Maybe some day I’ll put a Chihuahua out the moon roof
(JUST KIDDING)

Good grief. I know you have a triple soft spot for pets. I wouldn’t want to endanger pets knowingly either, but I’d also look for new inventions or even try to create them. Not only head shape but size varies with the kind of dog. A goggle whose frame can be custom molded to a dog’s head (made out of Gumby like material) might be the only truly effective kind.

Most overused phrase of the year: “Game Changer.”

I can imagine a number of folks assuming that their dog would be okay on the roof of a car.

Uh huh...I frequently throw dogs off the tops of tall buildings because I know they love the rush of air on their faces. Heck, most people do.

Oh, good. Romney saved a dog’s life. And Dan Rather is going after Bush’s military service with the draft dodger tirade again, trying to show that, after all, if you like Bush who lied about his military service (they say), you should have no trouble voting for someone who truthfully avoided military service...my my MY my my the liberal newz media are rather fond of the Bishop, aren’t they? Perhaps his magnetic mormon principles have converted them to more conservative ways.

The media will carry him like a fighter on the take. This is a show for our benefit.

Watch and see if they don’t make course adjustments...”people are catching on, do a hit piece”...”ok, too much, now we need to blow him a kiss...”

We are being played. It’s political Kabuki.

I agree with you re: Mitt. You and I both know he is not going to knowingly be cruel to an animal. The dog eating story as I understand it was when President Obama was a child. He does not, nor would he, eat dog now.

The dog’s natural ability to secrete tears and lubricate the eye should suffice to keep the eye moist when they are hanging their head out the window. No different than a motorcyclist that doesn’t wear eye protection. The danger is if a bug hits the eye and causes ulceration. I don’t see any problems from dogs hanging their heads out of the windows in dogs that have normal tear production.
