SANTA ANA – A Stanton man pleaded guilty to arson and animal cruelty Thursday for setting fires inside his home and then killing his dog – a dachshund – by poisoning him and slitting his throat.

No matter what his master did to him, Fido remained faithful to the end. He ran to the place he felt most secure.
I truly expected to read that he ran out the door and died in the yard or street or at a neighbor's.

Ammo is getting expensive. Why waste a .22 on this creep when something on the order of what he did to the dog would be more appropriate and save ammo. A slow bleed out in a burning house seems a fitting death.
Punishment to fit crime, personally. If you can do this to another living thing, he’d have no problem doing it to any other living thing. It’s his own loyal dog, no less. Twisted bastard.
I am guessing drugs too, but in a court proceeding this info usually comes out. I think this is just lazy reporting by omitting motivation.
I hope this bastard finds himself in the general population in prison and is surrounded by dog lovers.
At first I was kind of dismissive of the kneejerk “just kill the bastard” comments, but an angel in my gut says in the interests of future humanity, it’s a wise judgement in this case...he’s a preview of coming attractions.

Me, I tend to be more an eye for an eye type of person. What he did to his dog should be done to him, without the drugs.
