Let's put this to bed. We have bigger fish to fry.

Everyone please send whatever you are able to, whether it is $10, $100 or $1,000+. The DUmmies, Morons, Kos Kiddies and that crew are laughing up their sleeves. Jim may have to make this site members only or allow ads. Better for us to just help with what we can. Maybe you can donate as a memorial for a lost loved one, a servicemember who never made it home or was disabled defending our country. Perhaps you'd like to give to keep free discussion alive and to show them that we're not knuckling under. I'm sure a well thought out or prayerful meditation will lead you to see the need and how you can help. If every registered FReeper and our lurkers would each just help out with a fin or a sawbuck, or better yet a Ben Franklin, we could put this to bed and get on with the conservative cause.

I have a question for you . . .

What percentage of the average FREEPERS hereon

do you think

REALLY SEE AND UNDERSTAND at least 55% . . . (of 100% of completely understanding)

that we are in the midst of the Biblical END TIMES

massive object lesson of God

vis a vis

the dramatic finale of the battle between satan and God in terms of the world stage . . . globalism . . . spiritual warfare being the supreme priority for individuals and groups and nations etc.?

???

The enemy has us shredding one another over stuff that satan’s own globalist oligarchy has settled in their backrooms months ago or longer ago. They already know which stooge will be in the White House Feb 2013. They might adjust some depending on events near the SElection but they already know. They already chose.

Their wholly owned Marxist Stream Media will help appear to ‘make it happen.’

Other operatives will insure whatever needful ballot count for that eventuality is accomplished.

All the Romney/OThuga angst on FR is for naught. I firmly believe that OThuga is the worst demonized gleeful Destroyer of the Republic of the two but both are stooges of the globalists. Folks not realizing that are not functioning in reality.

Have the costs of FR ever been posted? It is a simple forum web site. How much does it cost to run?

Well there is a “budget”. I think the GSA has one of those too. : ),

But then let there be no mistake, Free Republic is a privately held Limited Liability Corporation for profit entity so is under no obligation to disclose its actual financials to anyone save for the IRS and the State of California. Then again, it operates much like a not for profit in that all income is generated from “donations”. So it would be nice to see an actual working budget and an actual budget vs. actual expenses posted. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for when asking for donations. I think a lot of us (especially the bean counters like me) would be a lot more comfortable donating if we had a better idea of how the donations were actually spent. Not that I think that Jim and others who run the site aren’t entitled to an income, nor would it matter if that figure was known, but the budget is so lacking in any sort of detail as to make it meaningless.

For instance, there is a line item in the budget for “Travel Expenses” at $1,200 per month. Really? $14,400.00 per year on travel? Why does an HTML website require $14,400.00 per year in travel expenses? That’s twice the amount budgeted for Equip, Maintenance and Repairs.

As far as the need for new servers and “equipment”, it would be nice to see a real estimate and detailed budget for what is actually needed. As someone else pointed out, commercial grade servers are pretty cheap now days. Heck my nephew in law recently bought a very nice used but relative new and working commercial grade server for a couple of hundred bucks off of eBay.

“Well, I guess that’s true in a way, if you have reason to believe his current position.”

Dirtboy, I have reason to believe his current position because I have seen and heard first hand many others who have made the same change.

Who is anyone here to judge a person’s current character by an initial reaction to an emotional circumstance or situation which causes that person to be upset, especially at a young age?

Worse, who is anyone here that can say they have never been wrong, unenlightened, or had a change of heart regarding an idea or way of thinking?

Attacking a person for changing his mind on a principle, whether running for office or not, always seems a bit odd to me, most especially when the principle pertains to the life issue. I’m not as cynical in this regard as some here are because I have seen it happen. And heard the hell that these people who have changed have gone through. Essentially, politicians are no different than you or I in one way. . . we all make mistakes.

Again. . . Ronald Reagan, Karen Santorum and many many others have seen the light and changed their minds with the help of God’s grace. That is the goal of the Pro-Life movement.

Differing on other policy issues may be a good reason to dislike a candidate. But on this one, please God give those who have come to terms with the reality of the horror of abortion a break. They have enough to reckon with.

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.”

Respectfully,
adc

So true. But this thread is in dire need of some lace and lavender, eh? Thanks for your beneficial perspective Laz.

Therefore, any discussion of the race in keeping with the guidelines of the site, would be to say negative things about either candidate.

Well, I could have picked one side or the other out of about a half dozen or so and banned all others. Thought it was just best to allow them to fight it out.

Is that why at least three members have been ZOTTED already from this thread?

Wolfstar being the most recent.

Justice Scalia just turned 78, Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year, Justice Breyer will be 76 in August, and Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago.

“We wish them all well, of course, but the brute fact is that whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court — in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come. If you don’t think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or 0, I think you’re smokin’ something funky.” — columnist Andrew McCarthy

I was supporting Cain at first and then got behind Newt, then Rick. When I gave a modest kudos to Mitt for saying to a moonbat “if you want free stuff vote for the other guy”, I got a pounded. This may get me zotted but I can do without that cr@p.

I don’t appreciate your implying that I am not pro-life. I am strongly pro life. It’s probably my biggest social issue.

I just know that Obama voted to allow doctors to destroy a live born fetus if the mother had wanted it aborted.

I also know that Romney says he is pro life. I’m willing to give him a chance to prove it rather than vote for a known abortion supporter.

You should know me better than that, but I will chalk it up to this exhausting thread.

I won’t be leaving, so you’ll have to kick me out if that’s what you want. You know I love Free Republic but I’m voting against the Muslim.

So what you are saying is that leaving your ballot blank, voting for someone who will at most get .5% of the vote, or writing in someone who isn’t running will solidify abortion for decades to come. So if standing by your principles leads to more abortion, should one reassess their strategy. Or logic just doesn’t get through to some people.

I followed the "The donors are donors not owners. We don’t sell shares in the company. That would be a violation of securities law."

But the "That’s not the way the founding fathers set it up, it’s just another way the Democrat tyrants (aided and abetted by the Republican tyrants) have of attempting to control us and deprive us of our God given rights to self-governance and the pursuit of Happiness (economic freedom). Look it up."... I don't follow.

The founding fathers created a nation, not a LLC.

Though, if you view donations as taxes, then the donors are kinda rebelling right now... saying "No taxation without representation".

Now, I do understand that donations are voluntary. But with longtime (read: posters from the '90s) posters getting ZOTTED left and right, many are leaving. That leaves you with a problem.

Which is that you now have a shrinking pool of people from which to request donations. And considering the site has lost roughly 10% of it's traffic in the last three months, that problem is going to snowball.

Tie into that the fact that the Freepathons have slowed down quite a bit, and you'd have to conclude that those 10% you've lost contained a good number of your donors.

See your stats at: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/freerepublic.com#trafficstats
