I agree with your comments. I have pointed out that I don’t think FR’s mods/admins could have done much about it because I saw it happen elsewhere too. And I never even saw the slightest indication that the powers that be on FR were officially anti-Perry in anyway. I just think they got swamped and determined the only thing to do was let the tide of anti-Perry hate wash away over time.
This was a unique situation that had more to do with Palin’s supporters (and there was LOTS of them on forums like this) viewing Perry as her primary conservative opposition. They were sure Sarah was running (her frequent bus tours added to this illusion), so they marched into battle en’masse to destroy Perry and clear the field for their candidate (who ended up letting them all down and not running anyway). Don’t underestimate the impact Sarah’s indecisiveness caused on this GOP primary cycle. It also was a contributing factor for why the conservative base stayed split for long. Imagine if Palin had announced in May she wasn’t running. Perry could have perhaps been stronger and united more of the base, maybe other conservatives might have entered the race, etc. Palin’s shadow over the field, and die hard supporters who refused to consider any other option (some still won’t and many have fantasies she will still “jump in the race”) seriously and adversely effected the GOP primary cycle this time around.
Well at this point all I can do is elect Ted Cruz to the senate to send on more Texan up there to give them the finger.
This Country needs a boatload of folks like Louie Ghomert
