Recruited By Mika, Guest Tries-But-Fails To Debunk Devastating Obama-Celebrity Ad
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 04/27/2012 5:52:49 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

If you haven't seen the hilariously effective ad by Karl Rove's American Crossroads group that portrays Barack Obama as a celebrity president with a failed economic record, check it out in the video clip.

Mika Brzezinksi was clearly peeved at how well the ad was playing even with her liberal-dominated panel. After Obama fan Donny Deutsch, and no-conservative-he John Heilemann praised the ad, a Mika at wit's end sought to recruit HuffPo's Sam Stein to help her out. "Can you debunk some of the things in the ad?", she entreated. Stumbled Stein: "ah-h-h-h-h, sure, I guess." After offering a paltry defense that Joe Scarborough demolished, Stein was reduced to saying that Mika had invited him to try to debunk the ad, and that "I'm trying my best!"

View the amusing video here.

RE :”The fact of the matter is that the Republicans only control 1/3 of the power structure in DC as of 2011 which isn't all that long ago. You can't do much with 1/3. You can do MORE with 2/3 and if you have the whole enchilada like Obummer and the socialist Rats did in 2007-2010 you can do a lot of damage that will take a while to undo and believe me you CANNOT do it with 1/3 of the power.

The same argument can be made by Dems in 2007 and 2008 when they took the House and had 51 in the Senate which is not a ruling majority. Just look what Republicans here said when Bush had 51 in the Senate,

In fact Pelosi (back then) was much smarter than Republicans (now). She did everything she could to allow voters to believe that Rs still controlled congress in 2008, and it worked and a part of the reason why she won so big that election.

In 2011 Dems did everything they could to point out that Republicans took over, Obama calls it the ‘Republican congress’.
And Republicans walked right into that trap, and every-other one. They are so beaten down they are working with Obama on some things like that ‘jobs’ bill and have given up on any real stands.

I do like the House paying for tuition loans with Obama-care, that was smart. I dont want to be all negative. Pelosi called it 'another attack on women' LOL.

I like to avoid flipping my arguments 180 degrees everytime power changes hands, as say Hannity does. That would make me dizzy.

Do we use that same rule and give Obama a pass for rising prices and crappy employment and blame Boehner for all these problems? I like to stay some-what consistent.

Are you kidding me? There is a provable record of what the Dem-completely-controlled Congress passed from 2007 to 2010 and the actual effects of such legislation. The reason that we get creamed is because there is NO MESSAGE out there citing the relationship between the Pelosi-Reid Congress and every economic metric. Most simply accept the premise of "Obama inherited an awful economy" and then attempt to say, "Yeah, but now how is it?"

Republicans right now have JUST the House. In 2007, ALL of Congress was controlled by the Democrats. That is a big difference.

No need to get dizzy when you look at it in a historical perspective and get out of the minutiae.

And I will cede that the way the Rats use power is much different than the Republicans but it must be really nice when you have most public media outlets watching your back for you. The Republicans have to walk on eggshells when trying to frame the argument and Reagan was the master of that. I will also point out a bit of deception on your part with the 51 Rat Senators in 2007. While essentially true, please remember they had 2 other "Independents" caucus with them giving them 53 members of their "caucus".

You seem to have blacked out the 2008 election, a huge loss for Republicans. Dems went from 51 to 58 (later 60) in the Senate. Bad memories?

In 2007 and 2008 dems had 51 in the Senate which is not a ruling majority. Nearly all Republicans (here anyway) said that 51 in the Senate is not a ruling majority when that is what Bush had in his first two years,

I like to avoid flipping my arguments 180 degrees every-time power changes hands, as say Hannity does. That would make me dizzy.

YES, I KNOW DEMS DO THAT ALL THE TIME TOO. Obama and Dems will say anything to get what they want.

Most of the time but not all of the time.

watching Republicans operate since 2011 has not been fun. They walk into every trap and dont work together as a team.

I get the impression that they are finally learning now, given their student loan bill paid by Obama-care. That is how Dems fight.

Just looked it up and I WAS RIGHT, they had 49 Dems and 2 independents = 51. And Cheney made it a tie.

This is far from the 'clear majority' that EoL claims they had.

sorry, Cheney made it 51 Dems to 50 Rs not a exact tie but an effective one given they need 60 to pass almost anything.

Did you read the part about the 2 "Independents" caucusing with the Rats giving them effectively 53? I'm confused now that that fact is in the conversation, why the 51 part was repeated?

Sorry... my bad... 49 + 2 made 51. Not 51 + 2 = 53. My apologies.

Did you read about the 49 Dems with the two independents giving them 51 against Republicans 49 plus Cheney in 2007??You are off by 2 again/

How about the 60 vote filibuster rule.

Be careful about depending on only Republican sources for info. I was talking to a Dem coworker today who was defending Obama on his citizens United attack on SCOTUS and after a few questions he had no idea what the case was about or what they decided, he just believed what Obama and MSNBC said. dont trust any media.

:)

For a second I thought you had me so I looked it up. I almost believed it.

Back then I was making the argument to Republicans that we would be better off if it looked like Dems had a majority that was safely under the 60, say the 53 you thought they had so it be easier to make that case you guys are making, that Dems were in control.

Back then Reid could control the agenda but he couldnt pass anything unless he worked out a deal with GWB, and there was plenty of them.

In 2003 the Bush tax cuts were passed using budget reconcilation as the R majority was still well under the 60.

Everyone that knows me knows I have no fond memories of the GWB era, except maybe the Elito and Roberts confirmations.

Well, if my mis-reading of a Wikipedia chart is deemed a "Republican Source", I plead "guilty as charged"...lol

I always try and flip the argument and come at it from all angles like you do. I just get sick and tired of the lefties not having the same discipline...lol

I actually get my news from a lot of different sources and have been accused of listening to NPR occasionally. I would submit that your general Republican is probably more informed from different sources than your general Rat.

Back to the gist of the conversation. It is very frustrating for me to watch the Pubbies always wanting to "be loved" and "go along to get along" whereas the Rats are ruthless in their quest for power. The Pubbies have only gotten themselves in trouble with the "get along" attitude.

I say stick by your principles hell or high water all the way to a stalemate/shutdown and if the people vote you out for it, so be it. The sheeple will eventually get what they deserve and you can see that in a microcosm kind of way in certain areas that have been controlled by the Rats for decades. The county I grew up in is one such place and it is sad. I understand those that say they don't want the whole country to go that route.

I appreciate your point of view sickoflibs and I too am SICKOFLIBS!!!! lol

HA-HA, that is where I went to check on your claims but I was hesitant to tell you because I have had a few Bush-Bots claim that Wika is lying even when they (the bots) have been obviously wrong about stuff.

I was a enthusiastic GWB defender his first term but by late 2006 I realized I had been duped, I swore not to let his few remaining supporters re-write history.

In 2009 I thought Republicans should replace Boehner and McConnell and repudiate the GWB era.

Mika is in the same category as that bull dyke, "Mad Cow" Maddow, who while channel surfing the other night, I happened upon her show./

I stayed there for all of 15 seconds as she was railing against Mittens and I SPECIFICALLY heard he saying that Mitt "HAD SHED HIS SKIN", meaning he was a "Snake."

There is no conservative commentator who could get away with that reference to a Demo-Rat Presidential Candidate, especially (THOUGH HE ARE ONE) Dear Leader.

BTW... speaking of “sickoflibs”.

I recently took a new job after 22 years at a fairly conservative company and didn’t realize how liberal this company I now work for is. I am already looking to get out of here as it is REALLY liberal and my co-workers wear it on their sleeve.

I am a systems analyst with a lot of experience in database design and software development life cycle. It is a UNIX type database that is not one of the most used out there.

I am desperate to get out of there so if any Freepers know of opportunities in the Puget Sound area, freepmail me. Thanks!

Sorry for the commercial! Point being.... it sucks to work for a liberal company.

HA-HA, trying to get software engineers to work on legacy systems with older operating systems is one hell of a challenge. Many would rather wait on unemployment than put CRAP on their resume.
Imagine the last buggy-whip designer or the last Beta VCR expert.

Video killed the Radio Star (the Buggles) and internet (and liberals) killed MTV.

She’s seriously stupid.
When we're talking about leftists it's awfully hard to say this one is more stupid than that one, since they are all so seriously stupid. But with Mika, we can say she thrusts her stupidity out there in a way that makes her more noticeable.

The lib I schooled today on Citizen's United once told me he saw an Republican political ad on TV in 2002 in GA that never existed. He swore over and over he personally saw it. I was able to prove to him through internet references that the ad he swore he saw could have never said what he said he heard.

During follow-up conversations I somehow mentioned that I use to sometimes listen to crazy lib Randi Rhodes on Air America (for entertainment, 2004-2005 time-frame) and so he says he used to listen to her too.

Then the bell range, this lib heard lib RR on the radio complain about a Republican commercial that said something the real one couldn't have said, and a few years later his memory forgot where he heard it and actually believed he saw it. I knew this because I heard RR telling this made up story back then and knew it was not true then,

No wonder he is terrified of Citizen's United. So many just depend on one or two information sources they trust, mostly because they confirm their world view.

Guys like me that have legacy experience also have a lot of knowledge on database design and what works (in the real world) and what doesn't.

I also have some training in some of the newer stuff but there is nothing like a 24/7 Unix based operation pumping millions of transactions flawlessly....lol

Pelosi is like Foxy Loxy ("If you tell 'em a lie, tell a big one" "Who looks nice and stupid?") in the 1943 Chicken Little cartoon. The GOP would have Henny Penny, Turkey Lurkey, and of course Chicken Little.
