His election strategy to pick fights to energize his voters seems to be clearly backfiring. The "war on women" ploy has only energized the religious vote. Stepping into the Tayvon Martin circus is energizing the black vote, but they were going to vote for him anyway. And the longer that case stays in the news, the more people start hearing both sides of the story. And there will clearly be a gut reaction to the hyperbole and riot mongering. He will lose a lot of independents by beeing seen to be on the same side as the new black panthers and Al Sharpton, because many whites voted for him thinking he was not that kind of black activist.
