A tree-removal worker was killed yesterday when a 40 pound, four foot long branch fell on him at a New Jersey nudist colony.
The Tamke Tree Experts staffer had been working with a crew to remove a large tree at the Sky Farm Nudist Club when the limb fell 70 feet to land on top of him.

I'm not touching this with a four-foot branch or a ten-foot pole. (headline was altered to fit)

I just hope the mods filter this thread for the word “wood”.

Oops. My bad. It wasn’t a nudist that got hit with a branch.
Sounds more like the ‘worker’ had his eye on the residents, rather than an eye on the ‘branch’.

He died doing what he enjoys.

I was almost killed in a similar manner in 1974. Tree work is dangerous.

A huge storm in Ohio brought an entire tree down on my rented house in the middle of night, slicing my bedroom clean in two. Thankfully I was out of town, otherwise I wouldn’t be typing this. Living near trees is dangerous...they’ve got it out for us.

So, let me get this straight. An Indian names Falling Trees killed a nudist.
That reminds me of a joke. An Indian chief was waiting outside the wigwam while his wife gave birth. His older son asked him, "How do we get our names, father?" The chief said, "Well, son, when the baby is born, I go in to see the baby and when I come out, the first thing I see is the name. For example, there is Running Deer, and there is Flying Eagle. Why do you ask, Two Dogs Screwing?"

"Tree work is dangerous." It sure is. As a born and bred Steeler fan, I remember the death of former Steeler guard Steve Courson. As per Wikipedia"Courson stayed near Pittsburgh for the rest of his life. In November 2005, he died in an accident at his home in Farmington, Pennsylvania. Courson had been cutting down a 44-foot (13 m) tree on his property, but a gust of wind changed the direction of its fall, and he moved into its path while attempting to prevent his dog from being struck. The dog, a black Labrador retriever, was found alive guarding Courson's body when the tree was removed."

A lot of jokes on this thread, but I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. I live in the woods, and was lucky. I've lost a roof to a tree branch. Lightning stuck the top of a 100 ft oak, and part of it went down on the roof putting a hole in it. Luckily, it wasn't the whole tree, or the house would be gone, as would possibly the neighbor's house.
Trees give new meaning to the term "blunt force trama"

I got hurt more times than I can count when I was logging. Seems like every day there was a close call or something that slapped you upside the head, if not worse than that.

“Well, at least he had his helmet on.”
The wood removal expert, meeting all OSHA safety requirements, had not counted on the distraction from the young damsel walking lithely by, celebrating her birthday, thereby missing a crucial bit of information, that fine day......”TIMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”.

"They dont call them widow-makers for nothing" Yep!
10 lb/ft limbs -- 70 feet up! Yikes!
Pine beetles killed off at least a dozen big pines on my place last Summer, and now, (including a couple actually in my yard) they are starting to drop big limbs. I won't even drive my tractor under one of them -- much less attempt to cut any of them down.
Some one could get rich by coming up with a remotely-operated method of dropping those beasts in a controlled fashion.
Too bad Detcord is not commercially available. (Dang terrorists screw up all sorts of good things...)
