At 2:51 p.m. eastern time on Friday, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who many in the Republican establishment try to dismiss as being irrelevant, endorsed Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock on her Facebook page over establishment Republican incumbent Richard Lugar. Four hours later, at 6:36 p.m. eastern time, Politico ran a story about how the American Action Network, previously described as the establishment cavalry, would be pulling out of the Indiana race.

She will also endorse Milt. Was comma do.
Lugar the Boogar. Pick him and throw him away.
Milt? Comma?
She will also endorse Milt. Was comma do..
There is a difference Lazlo.
One is a race between a Conservative GOP candidate and a GOP RINO.
The Presidential race will be a race between a socialist Rat against a GOP RINO.
I agree with you, Sarah will indeed endorse Mitt. she has said early on: “ABO!” Good for Sarah!
President Obama is the best thing that ever happened to Mitt Romney. No way would he ever, ever have had a chance of being president if the current resident wasn’t so... so... bad! As far as Sarah’s endorsement for Mourdock, good on her. Wouldn’t it be great if she made a special trip to a campaign event for him? Lugar plays in the same RINO league as McPain.
I'd have to agree with your assessment.

I can't remember all of the specifics...can't even remember where I heard it, but supposedly Eric Cantor has surrogates working to help get Luger reelected. I think Palin’s endorsing Mourdock because 1) she likes his Conservative background, and 2) she's openly challenging the likes of Cantor, Boehner and McConnell.
As you mentioned, a personal trip to Indiana to campaign for Mourdock would be huge. It would also be a strong rebuke to Cantor and the boys that she's watching them closely.
get outside of Indy.
There isn’t hardly a Lugar sign to be found around my county. But a crapload of “Retire Lugar” and “Mourdock” signs.
The guy hasn’t established residency in the state for 30 years...A classic example for term limits....
Why doesn’t Palin endorse herself to run for the Presidency. Can any one get behind this?
I know Governor Palin is very busy, but this is exactly where she can do the most good. Twitter isn’t enough. We need her out there encouraging the Tea Party at these crucial races.
Mitt Romney has taken a lot of wind out of conservative sails. He’s that bad, but fortunately for him, Obama is worse. As I mentioned, that’s about the only thing Romney has going for him...he’s ABO. I won’t demonize anyone who votes ABO, nor do I like it when ABO voters demonize those who plan to skip the presidential election this year.
I do agree Sarah Palin is likely to endorse ABO, but I hope she does it in a way that supports conservatives. I hope she doesn’t try to “blow smoke” by telling us what a great conservative Mitt Romney is. That would hurt her own credibility, because we KNOW Mitt is NOT a conservative. However, I’d fully understand an endorsement to get out there and defeat Obama now so that we can live to fight again another day (against RINOs and Dems alike).
We win some and lose some. We lost against McCain. We have another chance with Senator Lugar. These are entrenched politicians who will use all the power at their disposal to hang on. The more the RINOs fight, the clearer it is they have to go, because no one in DC is irreplaceable. Anyone who thinks they are has reached their expiration date!

Sarah Palin would have wiped the floor with Obama. Come on Sarah run?
And just to be clear, a vote for someone else besides Mitt, is a vote for Obama.
I have said negative things and had some dire thoughts about Mitt, but I will vote for him even if gagging when I do.
No, it is not. A vote for someone else such as Virgil Goode is a vote for Virgil Goode. It does not go into Obama's column.
The timeworn party loyalty talking points aren't going to cut it this time around. The GOP-E showed in 2010 that to them, party loyalty only applies when their choice of RINO wins. Many conservatives are choosing to exercise that precedent now in response to Romney's annointment.
Bitch at the GOP-E for the state of the party now, especially when they stood back and let Romney engage in scorched-earth politics in the primary that led directly to the bad blood we see now.
dilusion
Truth.
Lots of Murdock signs around Greenwood and even more Retire Lugar signs!!!!
Correct, about the time Sarah endorsed Mourdock, mcpain was doing the same for lugar.
That had to help.
Just finished Nikki Haley’s book...Sarah helped her at just the right time...She can collect a lot of IOU,s in the future...as for Mittens his speech was good ..sounded like Reagan.problem is can you believe him.?????What choice do we have???? None
That for me, has always been the problem. I simply have never believed or trusted Romney. His words always ring hollow with me.
So can she legitimately/effectively campaign against Obama without actively endorsing Romney? I would imagine so, since she’s less likely than a candidate to have to answer a direct, “Do you support the candidate Mitt Romney for President of the United States?” question.
“The timeworn party loyalty talking points aren’t going to cut it this time around.”
My sentiments exactly - the time has come to sink the leaky rowboat, swim to shore and start to build a more reliable vessel. Continuing to bail with milquetoast candidates who won’t stand up for the fundamental tenets of the party and our nation is foolishness.
So, if it ends up as
Obama 29 million
Romney 28 Million
Virgil Goode 5 Million
you contend that those votes weren't helpful to Obama?
The least you can do is be honest - many oif us don't intend to vote Romney, but we also won't sabotage Romney to ensure Obama is elected. We also refrain from using "new math" to justify ourselves - our beliefs are justification enough. If you need to justify yourself, you need to reassess. I know Rick's surprise departure hurt you, but he's gone - live with it.
In a sane world, a McCain endorsement would be the kiss of death to any political campaign.
As opposed to what? Not voting at all? Romney is not entitled to any votes, he has to earn them if he wants to win. But it seems his only plan was to win the GOP primary, because he engaged in the kind of scorched-earth politics that makes reconciliation afterwards almost impossible.
The least you can do is be honest - many oif us don't intend to vote Romney, but we also won't sabotage Romney to ensure Obama is elected.
Yeah, we need to engage in the same party loyalty the GOP-E engaged in when their pet RINO Mike Castle lost in the GOP primary 2010 - not sandbag the winner. Oops, they did just that. So tell me again about honest?
We also refrain from using "new math" to justify ourselves
New math? Excuse me, I am not the person saying 1+0=2
- our beliefs are justification enough. If you need to justify yourself, you need to reassess. I know Rick's surprise departure hurt you, but he's gone - live with it.
Uh, dude, I was a Newt supporter. You really need to do a better job on your talking points.
I dunno, I would think it would be the other way around. The GOP-E managed to back, IMO, the one Republican who would have a hard time beating Obama, because Mitt takes so many choice campaign issues off the table, while offering nothing in the way of his own positives. He didn't win the GOP primary as much as he destroyed any alternative to him, and the voting patterns prove that out.
2012 will go into the record books, IMO, as the most unpalpable election in modern times - two very unpopular candidates in a race to be less unpopular than the other guy.
Personally? I have no problem with anyone who is going to vote for Romney, and I have no problem with Sarah endorsing him. Like I wrote, it does depend how she endorses him. If she comes out claiming he’s some great conservative, then I think she’d damage her own credibility. If, on the other hand, she said to vote Romney in order to defeat Obama, I think that’s something that most of us understand.
I hate threads where FReepers demonize each other either for planning to vote or not voting for Mitt. This isn’t about Mitt fooling us. I think both pro and con know what we’re getting. It’s about doing what’s best for our families, and I don’t think any of us have the right to criticize someone else for doing that.
Why can’t we just all agree to disagree on ABO and get on with other battles that are still being fought, like Mourdock’s?
And the nonsense continues, the GOP-E Young Guns jumped into this campaign with $100,000 of support for Lugar. If they were really serious about winning that seat in November, they should have stayed out of the primary and given that money to the primary winner to take on the Dems in November.
Which once again begs the question, who does the GOP-E see as their real enemy? The Dems? Or the Tea Party?
Their actions and their words sure make that answer clear to me.
A bird in hand is better than two in the bush and much better than one in the bush. What do I mean? I think the GOPe sees Senator Lugar as a sure thing. It’s better to have a sure thing, even one that may not get you everything you want, than to risk it all on a new guy. Some people are just like that. It’s like pouring more money into a bad investment. We FReepers are simply at the point of cutting our losses with Lugar and moving on. So what if he tosses a crumb our way every so often? It’s time to move on and maybe, just maybe, get someone better. We can be sure nothing is going to change with people like McPain, Lugar, and Gramnesty, etc. in DC.
This is true...but if we end up with a President who keeps a moist finger in the air, then it will be up to people like Sarah Palin and the Tea Party to ensure which way the wind is blowing.
I’d be amazed if Sarah used the term “conservative” to describe Romney. She’s far too savvy about all things Tea Party and conservative to make such a mistake.
It is fun watching Sarah whack RINOs in the head. Hopefully she’ll take a few more swings in the weeks ahead.
Much as I’d love to see her on the November ballot, Sarah can still advance the cause of conservatism quite nicely from the sidelines. This should be fun!
I agree. There just does not seem to be many Tea Party Candidates running against RINO’s this year.
Hopefully we can get Mourdock and Cruiz in. And Get Hatch out.
Whatever....the GOP-E has not earned my vote.
And I'm not sure who I am going to vote for. I'm just calling out the typical GOP-E bleating about not voting for their RINO. They showed what party loyalty means to them in 2010. Take it up with them.
If Palin had run, I don’t know who would have taken more shots at her - the Dems or the GOP-E. After all, the GOP-E RINOs have a lot more in common with their inside-the-Beltway Dem brethern than a renegade conservative such as Palin. Palin has the gall to call for limited government - and mean it.
Right, vote for whoever but Mitt, and if that helps Obama get re-elected, so what, right?
Mitt ain’t gonna win anyway.
Atta boy.
I’ve seen the Lugar signs on N Meridian St where I imagine the high income earners live. In the black inner city neighborhoods, I see many Carson signs.
Thank you Sarah for endorsing Mourdock. It really helped him.
To pro-lifers (hopefully all of us), I received this info from an email from Catholic Vote:
Lugar voted with Harry Reid to use our tax dollars to pay for embryonic stem cell research, and he refused to support a ban on research using tissue taken from aborted children.
Lugar also wouldn’t join his fellow senators in a lawsuit challenging Obamacare.
