Mitt Romney and the Republican Party's sizable bloc of evangelical voters are about to engage in a marriage of political convenience.
The presumptive GOP presidential nominee's march to the nomination proceeded largely without strong backing from the conservative Christian community.
But with Romney now the only hope that conservatives have to beat President Barack Obama in November, a partnership has begun to jell.
Gary Rose, the chairman of the politics and government department at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., agreed. "Santorum was their guy, but more important is their agenda of dislodging Obama," he said. "I don't believe they'll stay home."

And I fear we “realpoliticians” with our realpolitiks will shortly get booted out of the echo chamber once JR learns about it... so far there has not been tattling about this strain of discontent but it’s only a matter of time.
Mitt Romney is NOT a wonderful leader. He has issues that even John McCain never had. One problem he will not have, however, is that of having a visibly sane platform about the issues that Barack Obama is bungling worst in the public eye — the economy and employment. And Mitt Romney is not afraid of the race card like John McCain was. He is the moldy ham sandwich which will still appear far better than the stinking fermented cowpile that is the Barack approach to governing.
If something deserves attention, it is not so much to execrate Mitt Romney but to figure out how better to keep better candidates from getting mowed down in the future by unscrupulous Democrats (is that totally redundant). I cheered for Sarah Palin, then Herman Cain (with honorable mention to Rick Perry), then Santorum, then Gingrich. All apparently in vain.
Realpolitik looks like it will rule the day and barring a deus ex machina, America will likely muddle through with Mitt (which is hardly an inspiring slogan). What comes after Mitt, and who goes to the Congress now, is much more malleable. Energy spent hating Mitt might be better spent on the malleable factors.
At what threshold does a politician become non-evil? The bible tells us there is none righteous, not one.
That's why the GOP runs 'open primaries'...as long as Democrats have a say in nominating the Republican candidate; we will NEVER get a conservative. Never.
This thinking makes the sausage making process called politics something it has never been and never will be.

By their fruits we are to judge.
But if this people want an evil king, God will grant them their desires and give them over to a reprobate mind.
We’ve fallen so far as a culture as to refuse to call evil and sin what they are, and instead play clever political games and compartmentalize what was expected of us as a free people to do to uphold liberty.
Voting for something like Romney ‘aint it.
I will be working tirelessly to convince everyone I preach and pastor to that is a citizen, to vote for the staunch conservative.
I don’t think singing songs of despair is terribly edifying... but that might just be me.
OK, compare Mitt fruits to Obama’s. One’s bug infested, the other is pure poison.
By a purist third party vote you do not get a purist fraction in the result. Your vote is not a cheer. Politics is the art of the possible.
So you advocate voting for the Socialist instead of the Marxist eh?
You still get Socialism.
And nothing Obama has done gets reversed.
Instead with Romney at the helm, it gets endorsed and codified into stone.
And the culture wills till rot, and Conservatives will become irrelevant, unless they move far Left.
If you want to play that game, then you are no Conservative. You would be a political animal, just like the GOP-e that foist this crap on us.
Certainly as a purist, JR will keep you around even if I and Happy go by the boards. I think when Mitt Romney takes his eraser to the Obama EO’s in January, a lot like you will be eating crow about your doom and gloom — unless JR bans that expression of fact as well as it happens. There will still be problems — perhaps Mitt’s easiness towards gays is the worst. But some measure of sanity that was absent under Obama will return.
C. S. Lewis warned about that kind of hatred — the hatred that wishes black were even blacker.
I think the comparison between Romney and Nixon is accurate. I’ve been thinking the same lately.
He’s another tricky dick with strong socialist tendencies running against a committed communist who hates America.

This is war, not politics.
Politics is thinking you can control the beast before it eats you, or at minimum get it to like you.
Some of us value our principles and standing before God much more than compromising with the very things that God condemns and Romney supports.
No wonder we have lost our culture to the Godless. It's no longer standing up for what is righteous, it's compromising with what is evil, and calling it 'the art of the possible'.
Well you folks go ahead. Your thinking would be one of the major reasons we lost the culture and then the republic in the first place, second only to the lukewarm church itself.

We have a conservative candidate...but look at everyone holding their nose for Romney.

I questioned your premise - that is that a person cannot cast a vote for the only option to remove Obama from office without getting in trouble with God.
If I withhold my vote from an opportunity to mitigate an evil that I am aware of, I have then cooperated knowingly with known evil. That, sir/madame, I shall not do.
Even in Mitt’s sordid history, I don’t recall him ever refusing to honor the wishes of the legislature, if only as filtered through the courts (which is what happened in Massachusetts in the “gay marriage” scandal — when, granted, Mitt should have waited for the court order to address him). Do you? That alone would make Mitt much less dangerous than Barack with all his Congress-skirting EOs. The ball would be back in Congress’ (and the USSC’s) hands.
A war that makes a move to do just what?

Incidentally I see all this grand energy being spent on execrating Mitt and next to nothing on who will go to Congress (especially the Senate) or how to groom the next generation so as not to give in to the Democrats.
Politics isn’t salvation. Votes are not prayers to God. Without the equivalent of a Great Awakening occurring again in the nation’s private worship life, America WILL get served up mediocre stuff.
I think Mutt actually is looking for a one night stand in November.
