Voting for Romney (D-Mass.): The Worst Mistake a Conservative Could Make
Country Thinker ^ | april 7, 2012 | Ted Lacksonen

Posted on 04/30/2012 9:14:40 AM PDT by Mozilla

Why am I so passionate today? Well, most readers who visit here know the country is in deep doo-doo. I’m here to tell you that voting for Mitt Romney (D-Mass.) will not change that fact and may make things worse. I will explain two things. First, Romney (D-Mass.) is the presumptive Republican nominee precisely because he will do nothing to improve our country’s fortunes. He is the chosen one because he will maintain the status quo. That is what the GOP machine has chosen him to do.

Second, you cannot “take over” the Republican machine and turn it into something in decent. I have made that statement before, but I’m going to describe the machine in greater detail. Keep in mind that this is information I have obtained from current and former GOP insiders. Everyone on the inside agrees that the Party has been constructed so it cannot be taken over. They have also constructed a political system so the political duopoly is very, very difficult to challenge. (Republican insiders HATE political freedom, like so many other freedoms.) Whether that’s a good thing or bad thing is a matter of judgment. For conservatives and libertarians it’s bad. For establishmentarians it’s wonderful.

Finally I will explain why voting for Romney (D-Mass.) is the worst thing you can do, regardless of whether you’re a “principals” voter or a “strategic” voter.

If you are not one hundred percent convinced that I am correct in those statements, you absolutely must read the rest of this piece and tell me where I’m wrong. I know I’m correct, and I can assure you that if you vote for Romney (D-Mass.) it will be the greatest political regret of your life.

Mr Lacksonen certainly wrote a *long* article on Saturday, April 7. I won’t argue with anything he wrote about our Republican Party or Mitt Romney: some things deserve some argument, but I just don’t feel the need. “The Democrat(ic) party isn’t quite as bad?” The Party that hasn’t offered a budget for almost eleven hundred days isn’t as bad as the one that has offered thirty-odd good bills including at least three tentative-to-fairly polished budgets? The Dems are ripe for another shellacking this year, unless Ted manages to talk, say, a quarter of conservatives to vote for B Hussein and the slate under him. Ted, do you *want* another four years of B Hussein? I don’t! ABO!

So they, like all dupes will pull the lever for Romney and erroneously think they are saving the country - because that’s the narrative the Ruling Class has established.
Look how eagerly they lap it up, all out of fear of Obama.

Well said!

Where do these clowns come from, who believe America can survive as we know it after replacing Obama with Obama-lite

Because Obama-lite is "white". He won't have the race card pass.

"Obviously, you can spit or don’t have any principle to defend."

Principle I got ... I jus' don' got no principled candidate.

The generic opinion of Romney is; He's a business man and can bring prosperity/wealth back to America.

I'm suspicious as to HOW he might do this, but I feel confident he CAN.

Look, I don't like him any more than the next guy, and I vascilated a little in the beginning, but I really warmed to Newt when I thought he could outrun Romney. Imagine my surprise when all he could do was 10% ... THAT was a shocker to me.

Because Obama-lite is "white". He won't have the race card pass.

Romney did not need the race card to advance the liberal / socialist agenda in his home state :
Most of Governor Romney’s judicial appointees were not conservative. The Boston Globe’s July 2005 “review … of Romney's judicial picks detected no philosophical or partisan pattern.” He “passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced [as of July 2005], instead tapping registered Democrats or independents including two gay lawyers who have supported expanded same-sex rights.”

Elect him at your peril and watch him do the same thing to the Supreme Court.

With all due respect, I think your line of reasoning is dead false. In 2008 we didn't have the foresight to know the extent to which obama would push the envelope and trample the Constitution.

That's abject crap. YES WE DID. Some of us were paying attention and crying aloud a warning. Some of us READ his "autobiographies" (aka Mein Kampf), his associations with known Communist/Marxist radicals, his WBBM radio interview from 2001.

Don't hand us crap for an argument that we need to vote for Romney because no one had the foresight to know how badly he would trash the Constitution.

The fact was and is again today: not enough give a rat's ass about the Constitution, they want hand-outs and the government to fix the problems.

When enough people make government their god, then government becomes god. And for Romney and the Ruling Class, they want the government to be god as much as Obama's Armies do. They simply want their share of the pie and power.

I made the grave mistake of checking my principles at the door to vote for expedience in 2008 as a check against Obama.

I won't ever make that mistake again. The GOP is dead AFAIC. May it rest in peace next to the Whigs.

I’m all in for a 3rd party after this election. There’s simply no time now to mount a serious challenge. I simply don’t believe i have the luxury to cast a protest vote.

Are you sure the time will be right then? If Romney wins, I suspect that a lot of people will be saying that it sucks to have to vote for a Romney second term but it is better than Hillary (or whoever the boogy man of 2016 is). They will again being repeating mantra: "Now's no time for a third-party, let's wait until the next election."

If you wait until the time is perfect to exercise your principles, you never will. If you sell out and vote for a 100%, dyed-in-the-wool model of RINOism this time, imagine how easy it will be to vote for an 90% RINO in the future.

You are basing your decision on Romney's past. We already know Romney is "flexible" - to say the least. This will work in our favor when it comes to holding his feet to the fire.

I am basing my decision on obama's present and my grandkids future.

There is nothing worse than Obumo— period. Nothing.

Oh sure there is.

Well.

Not this election.

But just wait.

Some future election.

Where we have the kids & grandkids of pro-Romney FR supporters like TexasCajun; ladymac; luvbach1; Lou L; Wiggen; fish hawk; Mr. Lucky; Ge0frrey; G Larry; Dawebman; tnlibertarian; vikingd00d; knarf; and others in this thread (or others who will come on posting)....

In that future election, there'll be some (r) candidate to the left of Obama runnin' for POTUS...

And because we can ALWAYS count on the (D) candidate being worse, the next-generation(s) relativists of the current FR relativistic cabal will be verbally harassing [some mild, some not] the remnant conservatives for not-voting for the guy/gal-to-the-left-of-Obama as a "better" "lesser of two evils'" "choice."

You buy into political relativism...you get the eternal fruits of it...and a "wonderful" legacy passed on to future generations...

With this kind of active spirit among so-called "conservatives," makes you wonder why the Founding Fathers of this country simply just wouldn't go along with taxation-without representation (& other issues) from the Brits...

Sad. So many FREEPERs today are capitulators & compromisers who bear absolutely NO resemblance to the Founding Fathers' rebellion-is-brewing spirit.

Hence, their need where they have to convert the rest of us. Why? Because we're living reminders to their relativistic conscience that they are searing their conscience with this "waterloo" type of political crossover.

I was referring to your reasoning for voting GOP-e for McCain. You said never again. McCain is not obama. I am arguing that you now know EXACTLY what obama is capable of yet you are using the ‘08 example for your decision 4 years later.

“And in typical alinsky style, you spittled forth but did not answer the questions. I think you’re a leftist shill, sweetums.”

And if you aren’t a shill buddie, I can tell ya, you are no credit to your candidate.
I don’t really want dillusionals like you in a place of power.

Me? I will vote survival. Building for tomorrow? Educate yourself as to the myriad parties across the nation. Which will fit together. Lets not forget the most important thing when starting a new movement. The leaders cannot be opportunists. They cannot be the same old same old. There may be people in here capable of at least starting the movement in the right direction. Certainly there are those experienced in at least some of the issues needed to be tackled. (Me,i have no idea but i am willing to work in whatever way i can.)
I suggested some of the already existing minor parties but keep in mind they have people in them already who may desire power as much as a main stream politician.
Leaders. We need Leaders.

Four more years of Obamah would be just peachy keen! Are you nuts?????

I s'pose, Mozilla, that the relativists among us consistently preach a distinct headline to us that they better recognize:
Voting for Romney:
The Better 'Evil' [as in a supposed 'lesser thereof']
Risk-take Ex-Conservatives-now-RINO-Romneybots Could Make

Hence...their 'new' 'conservative' confession...
Yes, voting for Romney is 'evil'
Yes, Romney is RINO
Yes, Romney is a big-govt socialistic healthcare pioneer
Yes, Romney has a 14-year wreckless baby-dismembering pro-abort track record from 1994 all the way thru 2007...
Yes, Romney portends to whackily become a full-grown god...
But, hey, at least that evil RINO big-govt socialistic healthcare pioneer pro-abort god has an (R) next to all those adjectives!

[Reminds me of that one 19th century politician...his name temporarily escapes me...who was at least satisfied upon learning that it was "our" rascal vs. the "rascal" of the other party on a given issue]

He believes just what is going on in this thread, that he doesn't have to do anything except be the "Not Obama".

That's exactly what the people are promoting calling for Romney's campaign donations. I listened to the guys Scripted hype...and he was fear mongering all about keeping Obama from winning. Not 'One' thing said about Romneys policies!....it was all about stopping Obama....and that with his voice two octives higher than normal!

So, go hold your breath until you get your way. Take your ball and go home. I don't give a rat's patootie. Just, don't pretend to be a Revolutionary War patriot because you're pouting over the winner of the Republican nomination.
