For many years, Shelby County has had good schools while the City of Memphis had terrible schools. SO, the City voted to dissolve their school system, forcing the County to take over. This legislation will allow suburban areas in the County to form their own, independent, school systems.

To put this into prospective....Shelby county has 935k residents, while the city of Memphis itself...has 662k of the 935k folks.

Memphis has been a marginal success as a city over the past three decades. It’s gone down the same trail as New Orleans...corruption layered across every city department. If you consider the vote situation and how quickly Memphis corruption will invade the Shelby Board of Education....you can figure the county school system will be a failure within four years.

After that...what? Ask the state to take over?
