In my view, his choice of a running mate will be his first opportunity to evidence his professed conservatism, which of course followed his liberal record as governor. If he is serious, he'll pick an outspoken firebrand of a conservative like Palin was to McCain.
Even so, high profile conservative Republicans must hold their noses and embrace the Eleventh Commandment popularized by Reagan to get out the vote to defeat Obama even in the non-liberal dominated states - ones a true conservative could take for granted. The convention may be telling.
I will not vote for Romney, my dear Christian Sister A-G, even if he has St Peter as his running mate.
A real conservative is available to conservatives:
Vote for Goode Not Evil (the lesser of 2 evils is still evil)
Virgil Goode for President
Goode on the issues: http://www.ontheissues.org/VA/Virgil_Goode.htm
Dear sister in Christ,
I cannot, as a Christian, ever vote for Romney. Fist, his record of being pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage. Second, his Mormonism. I used to be Mormon and I know too much about it. I will not support evil, either Romney or Obama, nor will I support a man who usurps the office of Christ (High Priest after the order of Melchizedek), believes he will become a God of his own universe, believes my beloved Savior didn’t have to die to pay for sin and is the spirit brother of Satan. I cannot do it. The lesser of two evils is still evil. I must vote my conscience and stand on my faith not sell it out for political gain or compromise.
Mitt’s Mormonism shows he has no discernment.
I have worked in ministry to Mormons for almost 20 years now, how can I stand against their heresies and at the same time vote for one of them for the highest office in the land?
I agree Obama is an abomination, but Romney is no better. The Eleventh Commandment is from Ronald Reagan, not God.
I will be voting for Virgil Goode as well.
I think you have summed up better in one sentence the sad situation the GoP is in -- summed up better than almost anyone could possibly do so. [And you not have even realized it!]
How sad is it that the GoP is about to nominate someone who has yet to show a single scintella of evidence (beyond word-games) that he is indeed conservative?
And wouldn't that be lovely???
IMHO, he absolutely needs to do this.
Did anyone see Greta VanSusteran's show last night? She had Michelle Bachman on, with her full-blown endorsement of Romney. Bachman said she would vouch for Romney on pro-life issues, finding him sincere in the matter of defense of life. She also vouchsafed that he would, in fact, repeal ObamaCare, and ensure that any replacement for it would NOT include any sort of "individual mandate."
If the chair of the Congressional Tea Party Caucus is willing to try to unite the GOP, for the purpose of showing Obama the door, then all I can say is she definitely senses the URGENCY of defeating Obama.
Question: Would Bachman be an acceptable VP candidate with my friends here or has she utterly tarnished herself in their view by coming to Romney's aid, for the purpose of uniting the party, in order to defeat the criminal enterprise now operating out of the White House?
Thank you so very much, dearest sister in Christs, for your valuable insights here.
