Did you loathe and detest the Bush administration? If so, you'd probably say its ideas were horrible and their execution worse. Did you not loathe and detest the Bush administration? In that case, you might say its ideas were pretty good—only the execution often left something to be desired.

Romney needs to distance himself from both Bush and Obama. He can't go around saying "If you hate Obama, then vote for a Bush clone."
I like Condi.
Back to you...
ABC, ah man, there goes my slogan “Anyone But Commies”
Apart from Kissinger I can’t think of a single recent SoS who’s been spoken of in glowing terms.I happen to have a lot of respect for Condi...I think she’s smart, dignified, capable.I think.for example, that she’s *far* better qualified to be POTUS than is our Community Organizer-In-Chief.I,personally,think she’d be a huge plus for the ticket...either in the top spot or the second spot.
No, and screw this author and his revisionist dreams.
Condi “do you know who I am” Rice?
Wouldn’t be related to John “do you know who I am” Kerry?
A mark of character is to admit one’s mistakes. This is a refreshing difference from the ‘politics as usual’ lie, spin, twist, obfuscate, strategy employed by most professional politicians.
Usually those who admit their mistakes learn from them. Those who cover up their mistakes become less proficient at everything except covering up.
Bush and Condi are both professing Christians who have taken unpopular stands for their beliefs. And both love America.
I would vote for Condi for President OVER any of the current frontrunners.
I think Condi was a better National Security Advisor than a SecState.
She was a better SecState than Colin Powell, though.
I’ll give you that one!
Colon Powell was an utter jackass and I got that from people who were forced to work with this inflated ego in the Pentagon.
America has been cursed with lousy SOSs. The current one, who no doubt picked Janet Reno (Lusty lesbian) when she was ‘running’ the White Hut, is a disgrace.
Why in the hell do so many FReepers continue to toss accolades her way and to suggest that she should run for president...or vice president?
The idea is patently absurd.
It’s nice that you ‘like’ her. I don’t even care in what way you like her; however, to put this woman in the White Hut....in any capacity is simply wrong-headed thinking.
She’s pro-abort. That does it for me.
Screw Romney. He agrees with most of what GWB did.
Condi seems like a nice person but reminding voters of GWB is a great way of joining the Obama 2012 campaign.
I can see where the moderator edited this article, which I did as well keeping it well under 300 words, but I wonder why he decimated the posting into one sentence?
I had high hopes for Condi.
She was big disappointment & turned out to be more of a Rino than I realized.
If GW could talk, he might now be on Mt. Rushmore. However, as he aged in office, the genetically determined wimp factor took firmer hold, as he bumbled and cartered his way out of office.
The Bush Legacy: Why Obama, of course!
Dr. Rice is a RINO and an ovowed Arabist. She is a disaster.
I was just prodding you, with a bit of dissent. :D
While Dr. Rice is pleasant and not unattractive, my support for her has nothing to do with infatuation.
She was instrumental in American policy vis-a-vis the Soviet Union, and played a role in resolving the cold war.
Rice is perhaps, one of the most brilliant people to have been in American government recently.
I disagree with, but understand her not opposing Obama. Frankly looking at America’s history someone like Obama was inevitable.
What’s important now that we’ve gotten that historical inevitability out of the way - is defeating him before he destroys our nation.
And sure, I still like Condi.
She was not so great an SoS, either.

If Romney is elected, he needs to do what GW Bush failed to do — clean out all the hold-overs from previous administrations.
And, he needs to bring in new blood — not old hacks from previous administrations.
That is part of the problem in Washington — too many old hacks and hold-overs who won’t leave.
It’s broken record season, so here goes. Like or dislike Condi, she brings nothing to the ticket that helps Romney. If anything, she will trigger resentment from plantation blacks. The fact that she swooned over Obama won’t mean anything to them. Even though she is the epitome of a smart, hardworking, talented, successful female, Condi won’t do much to attract the women’s vote. Last, but not least, not by a long shot, is that Condi’s politics are something of an unknown, except she is flexible enough to get a chill up her leg when Obama won, and that is way too flexible for me. Romney doesn’t care about her politics, but he knows political correctness won’t help him. Romney’s people know he has a conservative problem. In terms of ethnic demographics, his best chance to turn things is by winning the Catholic, Hispanic voters the Democrats are crapping on.
Condi Rice?
Haven’t we had enough incompetent, affirmative action people at the highest levels of the federal government, placed there solely because of their skin color and/or their personal plumbing?
People like Madeleine Albright, Condi Rice, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Janet Napolitano, Kathleen Sebelius and Eric Holder have largely been responsible for turning the USA into a laughing stock on the international stage and gradually moving us toward a national version of Detroit.
It’s time to stop the racist/sexist insanity and select people who have demonstrated the ability to perform the job.
I excerpted the WSJ image you posted. The FR software is brutal. If you have any more questions, please ask us directly.
You like her? Well she’s never married so go ask her.
She is maybe the worst running mate Romney could pick. I seriously doubt he will but she’s the worst one that I could imagine even being possibly considered.
She’s pro-choice, pro-shamnesty, AND has has strong Bush stink (you can’t think of her without thinking of W). If you have Bush stink you better damn well be a decent conservative.
With Romney’s history of flip flopping on abortion he needs a pro-life running mate and Bush stink as strong as hers is a baaaad idea. That means no Condi, no Jeb. No way.
>>...screw this author and his revisionist dreams.<<
It was a good, accurate, article. The VP choice might well be President someday, and could certainly have an advantage in 8 years. Better it not be Rice, given her history of waffling on conservative principles. What the author said, needed saying.
If, okay when, it comes down to it, I’m not sure if I am going to vote for Mitt. Adding Rice to the ticket would make that decision for me. Just like with Palin, only the other way.

Condi Rice has never run for elected office and she's not going
to start now. Makes great headline fodder though.
“Anyone But Condi”
I couldn’t agree more. Your reasoning says it all.
Anyone But Commies
We know ABC does not stand for that!
lol, yeah, but why not use it to put out the commie fire?
Ditto for me. If that's the GOP ticket, I'm voting for Virgil Goode. (not like my vote matters anyway)
It’s not going to be Condi Rice; Romney actually want to win the presidency.
80% of Republicans have a FAVORABLE view of Rice after her awful record as SOS and her subsequent support of Obama? Which "Republicans" did they poll, these guys?
She was and is objectively well qualified for the jobs held, whether you liked what the W's administration "accomplished" in foreign policy or not.
Why is there so seldom any effort to list grievances?
Curiously you left Colin Powell, unabashed endorser of Obama, and SoS longer than Condi, off of your list. You must think he was brilliant!
I'd rather have her run for California rep, governor, or senate.
Condi would be a major asset to a future GOP administration but VP is a political job; she is not a politician and has no interest in that arena. It offers her nothing but grief.
I think you grossly under estimate her contribution to the post-9/11 successes of W's administration. It's not like anyone could halt North Korea's nuclear ambitions or resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
It doesn't seem the case for you, but I see too much of that on FR now, generally rooted in misogyny or blatant racism. It's vile and despicable. It's against the rules but such posters persist.
Name one major accomplishment during her tenure as secretary of state.
Forcing a cease fire in the 2006 Israel/lebanon conflict to save Hezbollah and allow them to retrench and rearm doesn't count.
No, I just forgot to add him. Thanks for the reminder.
He stands right out there with the worst of the worse.
If it wasn't for affirmative action he would have spent his Army career running the night shift at a chow hall.
I’d much rather she join the rank of ex-SOSs that are truly enigmas. They served no purpose other than paring down the credibility of America and the creation of wonderment as to why they’d never married.
Don’t blame me for whittling this article down to one sentence!
The ‘moderator’ slashed it to this extent for whatever reason I have no idea. He commented to me that the WSJ dictated this, but I know this is patently untrue. His comments are now nowhere to be found.
I edited this to under 300 words before posting and now I wonder if these ‘moderators’ are exercising their police police in an unreasonable manner.
I, like most of you, donate money to this website and am increasingly agitated by these underhanded exercises of ‘power.’
“Rice is perhaps, one of the most brilliant people to have been in American government recently.”
What evidence do you have for this statement? She’s not stupid, but I have not seen signs of brilliance. Accomplishment in the political world or on the piano does not make one brilliant.
Your submission was excerpted because you posted an image from the WSJ. The FR software determines how much of it is excised.
Condi is a social and economic liberal. And she is squishy and irresolute on foreign policy. She is one of the main reasons that W’s Presidency was moribund in the last four years. She looks good, is smart, but anyone who did not oppose Obama in ‘08 lacks critical judgment, or cares more about race than country. Bob
Even though she is pro-abort and soft on support for Israel? There are many things to admire about Condi - BUT I could not support her on the ticket.
What exactly do you like about her? Her legs?
This woman was SECRETARY OF STATE under the LOSER who helped put Obama in the Oval Office.
Under the Administration she served, the Patriot Act, TSA and Homeland Security was established whose powers have ABUSED the rights of American citizens while FAILING to identify and target MUSLIMS.
Under her Sectretary of Stateship, Bush delivered his TOTALLY ASSININE speech about ISLAM being a PREACEFUL Religion - right after a bunch of Islamic Fanatics - in TYPICAL MUSLIM FASHION - incinerated nearly 3,000 American civilians in a cowardly attack.
Under Bush’s administration and her direction, we got embroiled in a PROLONGED OCCUPATION of Iraq and Afghanistan after taking out the dictarorshipes which existed there. We have lost countless American lives and dollars in a FUTILE effort to civilize Islamic Savages without IDENTIFYING and eradicating the underlying problem - ISLAM.
Under her tutelage as Secretary of State, the Bush Administration rolled over and played dead with respect to Mexico’s INVASION of our southern borders by a Mexican army of illegals, and at least two Hispanic-American Border guars were PERSECUTED - not just PROSECUTED - by her administration.
If Romney picks ANYONE connected in ANY WAY with that idiot George Bush and his administration - HE LOSES.
And if he picks RICE, I very well may vote for an independent.
Rice was working for Bush, but cutting her own way back when she was on board.
Her job prior to S of S was as an unknown back bencher working in the loop in ... Moscow as a member of the team who went there, way back when.
She’s got a long and (very) credible reign, and despite by own fed-up situation regarding anything Bush, I enthusiastically support Rice.
