Dismal Job Growth and Stagnation Will Unseat Obama
The Fiscal Times ^ | May 3, 2012 | EDWARD MORRISSEY

For months, the Obama administration has told American voters that the nation had turned the corner on a stagnant recovery. Job creation picked up in December, January, and February, averaging a decent if unspectacular 217,000 jobs added monthly during that period.

It seemed as though the economy would provide the White House with momentum heading into a tough election fight -- not just for the White House but also for the Senate where Democrats have to defend 23 of the 33 seats up for election this year. Evidence of success from Barack Obama’s economic policies might keep both in Democratic hands, especially as voters start taking the election seriously this summer.

A month ago, the March numbers dashed those hopes. Job creation slowed significantly to 120,000, and a few weeks later, the GDP report for the first quarter provided some explanation. Growth slowed from a pedestrian 3.0 percent in the fourth quarter of 2011 to a stagnation-level 2.2 percent. Still, the White House suggested that this was merely a hiccup in an overall improvement for job creation and economic growth. One month does not a trend make, after all. . .

Great list, but many of those overlap. Some are misleading. Lutherans are fairly conservative, so are Methodists. It’s just that the leaders of these denominations are liberal. (Also, these denominations are declining — the conservative ones are growing.)

Some of this can be dismantled by Congress through legislation and oversight.

As I said, people are going to lie to pols who they will vote for, but in the privacy of voting booth they will be the big surprise factor.

When the election came, ronald reagan truly was of character and leadership. Iran was a factor, but carter’s other decisions including the cabinet and the economy caused the momentous defeat. That four years was up until now dismal, obama’s economy is worse.

That is Romney’s problem, more than a few conservative voters are not going to turn out in mass for him. He needs the base to vote en-mass for him and it’s not going to happen.

My wife for example has voted republican since she registered over 20 yrs. ago but this time around she is adamant, she is not voting for Romney even if it means obama winning. In her words a liberal is a liberal doesn’t matter what party initial is in front of their names and she will not vote for another damned liberal out of fear.

Exactly. If it were anyone but the marxist messiah, a sitting potus with this disastrous record would have been primaried and ousted.

What obama has ever done to get the slavish loyalty he does is beyond anything I can comprehend.

His supporters continually repeat that it’s the fault of Bush Cheney. Absolutely amazing.

It is hoped that those who parrot those thoughts will be a minority in the upcoming election.

IMHO
