After months of hints, Michele Bachmann finally endorsed her former rival Mitt Romney in his bid for the presidency, calling him "the last chance we have to keep America from going ... over a cliff."

In a statement, the Minnesota congresswoman said she was "honored" to back Romney, describing him as "a man who will preserve the American dream of prosperity and liberty."

Bachmann will make her first joint appearance with Romney at a campaign event in Portsmouth, Va., at 1:15 pm ET.

A tea party favorite, Bachmann ended her own run for president in January, after she placed a disappointing sixth place in Iowa's Republican presidential caucuses. While Romney had lobbied Bachmann for her support for months, she held out, telling reporters in recent weeks that she would endorse on her own timetable, not others'.

A tea party favorite, Bachmann ended her own run for president in January . . .

Correction: A former tea party favorite, Bachmann ended her own run for president in January . . .

No Romney supporter is going to be a favorite with decent Americans in 2012. If Mitt surprises us all by governing like Candidate Romney instead of like the person he has been all his life, that may change by 2016. I'm just "severely" skeptical that President Etch-A-Sketch will keep his word on anything.

Romney has been endorsed by;

Paul Ryan
Marco Rubio
Newt Gingrich
Herman Cain
Michelle Bachmann
Bobby Jindall
Bob McDonnell

All formerly shining conservative stars here on FR. Are they ALL traitors? Are they ALL sell outs? What will you say when Sarah Palin gives her endorsement and agrees to make campaign stops for the ticket...whoever's on it? Will you all hate her too?

What will you say when Sarah Palin gives her endorsement and agrees to make campaign stops for the ticket... whoever's on it? Will you all hate her too?

Of course they will. He's an evil Mormon - worse than obama - haven't you heard? You're supposed to withhold support for obama's opponent in THE most important election of our lifetime and let Hussein win.

Your point is an excellent one. When a candidate has a well documented history of making statements on all sides of every issue, the best way one can predict what that candidate's positions would be is to look at prior public office positions held. Thus, the best projection of Romney is he would govern much like his time as Massachusetts Governor.

In three words, no thank you.

I dont “hate” any of those people... but I am disappointed in them.

When given a choice between the guillotine and hanging... I say no thank you to both, regardless of who endorses which.

If Governor Palin endorses Romney, then I will lose my trust for her as well, until such time as President Romney proves that I'm wrong (unlikely as that joyous event may seem). I hope Sarah will instead focus on electing conservatives to Congress so that the legislative branch can restrain whichever big government liberal occupies our White House after January 20, 2013.

When, exactly, did Newt endorse Romney?

I know he he has said he will support the eventual nominee, but we don’t have a nominee yet, and I don’r recall Newt specifically endorsing anyone.

Newt Gingrich didn’t endorse him yesterday.

Romney is not yet the nominee.

I have some really bad news for you, today Sarah Palin endorsed Governor Romney.

I hope Romney wins and governs well. I’m skeptical BUT I know he will be better than OBAMA. The choice is only Romney or Obama. If the choice were between hanging and the gas chamber you can’t choose neither. The choice is Obama or Romney. If you stay out then you vote for Obama, please don’t vote for Obama.
