INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Republican Sen. Richard Lugar is asking Democrats and independents to cross party lines and save him next week in the political fight of his life.
The six-term senator said Friday he needs votes from outside his own party if he is to survive Tuesday's GOP primary. Recent polling has shown Lugar trailing tea party-backed state Treasurer Richard Mourdock.
Lugar told reporters he is best suited to represent Jewish and female Hoosiers along with ethnic minorities.

Desperate dicks do stupid things
In all seriousness, this is really amazing.
What is going on in Dick’s head?
Just like Lisa Murkowski and Arlen Specter.
Specter: Im simply not going to subject my 29-year record in the United States Senate to that Republican primary electorate.
God forbid the people who sustain you in office decide to throw you out of it!
“The pro-labor Lunch Pail Republicans endorsed Lugar this week and former Ronald Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan pleaded with voters to return Lugar to the Senate.”
I think that says it all, does it not?
Are you sure this isn’t from John Semmens or The Onion? What a pathetic way for a six-term Senator to act.
I donated to make him unemployed. FOAD loogie... you rat bastard!

I thought the Tea Party was dead. Hehehehehe...
SOP for GOP-e.
She adds to the disdain for any "independent woman with a brain" as she's driven clearly by her ideology (aka liberal, pro-abort, pro-gay, semi-religious thought.)
This kind of stuff will make you rub your.... oh, never mind.
Lugar wants to ban Lugars!! Kick him out!!
Yes it does say it all. Peggy Noonan’s fallen in with the crowd that says that we need to protect every incumbent republican so we can regain the majority.
We protected Jim Jeffords, he stabbed us in the back and gave control to the democrats in 2001.
We protected Lincoln Chafee, he stabbed us in the back many times over
We protected Arlen Specter, he stabbed us in the back by blocking conservative judges, voting for Obama’s stimulus and finally bolting the party when he didn’t get his way.
We refused to protect Lisa Murkowski, she stabbed us in the back by running a write-in campaign and getting democrats to vote for her in the general to successfully defeat the conservative.
We refused to support Charlie Crist, he quickly changed his tune, became the liberal he always was, and unsuccessfully ran as an independent to try to defeat the conservative.
We refused to support Dede Scozzafava, she stabbed republicans in the back by dropping out and supporting the democrat.
And on...and on. We’re done with Peggy Noonan’s mentality.
What is next? Turning like McCain for help from LaRaza? What else? The Soviet Union and Bin Laden if he does not get the amount of votes?
You got to love these RINOs, they are just like Democrates.
Retire the RINO’s, one by one...make sure the young’uns stay true.
Lugar has been one of the “sainted ones” for so long, his campaigning skills have atrophied.
He, like so many other entrenched senators, is simply unused to having to go fight for his job.
"Instead, I choose to subject my 29-year record in the United States Senate to the Democrat primary electorate.... and proceed to get my azz handed to me to some guy named Joe Sestak.
‘And on...and on. Were done with Peggy Noonans mentality.’
Oh, I dont think this mind set has run its course. There’s this guy named Romney...
