Tunes For The Troops

**Artist Showcase**
Triumph is a Canadian hard rock power trio that was popular in the late 1970s through the 1980s. Eight of the band's albums were certified gold or higher, and Triumph was nominated for multiple Juno Awards, including Group of the Year Award in 1979, 1985, 1986 and 1987.
Like their fellow Canadians Rush and Saga, Triumph began building their reputation across North America as a live band, peaking in the early to mid 1980s. The band was formed by Toronto music veterans Gil Moore (drums, vocals), Mike Levine (bass, keyboards, producer), and Rik Emmett (singer, guitarist, songwriter) in 1975.
Enjoy the variety of musical selections that the Canteen Deejays provide throughout the thread. Please ping any DJ with your requests for the Troops!
All music is removed on Monday. Thanks to all the DeeJay's for their time & effort providing entertainment for the Troops!
*Canteen Mission Statement*

In 1985,
Eddie Rabbitt issued his Rabbitt Trax album which produced a hit on the country charts co-written with Evan Stevens. This is one of the great songs of the country storytelling tradition.

In 1985 Eddie lost his son to liver disease. I didnt want to be out of the music business, but where I was, was more important, he said of his three year hiatus.
Eddie Rabbitt decided to return to his musical roots. He had long been an admirer of Bob Dylan, Donnie Fagan, Elton John, Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson. He especially loved the work Sam Phillips had done at Sun Records in the Fifties, and his next disk, I Wanna Dance with You, showed that influence. Two hits came from that album. The first was a version of Dions old 1963 hit.
The Wanderer
The second was the title song. By this time, Stevens and Malloy were no longer in the picture, and Eddies song writing partner was Motown saxophonist Junior Walker.

In 1989
Eddie Rabbitt issued Jersey Boy, which produced the last #1 country single of his career.
On Second Thought
One other song of note came from that disk.
Eddie was one of the few entertainers that was a registered Republican. He had worked extensively with various charities because he felt it was important for him to be a positive role model, and he roundly condemned the entire rap and hip-hop phenomenon, stating that it was inciting a generation. Intensely patriotic, he wrote a song for this disk that became popular during the first Gulf War. Later he happily donated it to the Dole campaign in 1996.

In 1991
Eddie Rabbitt issued the album Ten Rounds which contained his last hit single. It was pure country.
Hang Up the Phone
In 1997 Eddie was diagnosed with lung cancer. After radiation and surgery, he recorded two more albums, but neither placed well. In May 1998, Eddie died at age 56.
In the late Seventies and early Eighties, Eddie Rabbitt laid the foundations of Hot Country before retreating to a more traditional sound. But he paved the way for the next generation of Hot Country singers: Clint Black, Garth Brooks and Randy Travis.
