May 4, 2012 Reward offered in death of Lightning Medicine Cloud

By BRAD KELLAR CNHI

GREENVILLE — A grieving Arby Little Soldier announced Friday a $5,000 reward has been posted for information leading to the person or persons responsible for the deaths of Lightning Medicine Cloud, a white buffalo sacred to Native Americans, and his mother.

"The people have taken the heart of a spiritual situation here," Little Soldier said.

During a press conference at the Lakota Ranch near Greenville, investigators looking into the deaths declined to release any details as to how the buffaloes died, other than to confirm that a criminal probe was underway, involving the Hunt County Sheriff's Office, the Texas Rangers and the federal Department of Indian Affairs.

Sheriff Randy Meeks did not comment on reports aired by a Dallas television station concerning the case.

"We are still early into the investigation and I'm not at liberty to say," Meeks said, adding a veterinarian was called to the ranch upon the discovery of the bodies. "We have not received that report yet."

Next week's Native American Powwow, which had been scheduled at the ranch to celebrate Lightning Medicine Cloud's first birthday, will still be presented.

"We are now going to celebrate his memorial," Little Soldier said.

“It’s a religious and cultural thing. I’d bet on humans causing the death.”

Could you expand on this subject, as it seems regional. As I already said, I’m in the Pacific Northwest and here salmon fishing is so important it borders on ‘salmon worship’.

DHS probably jumped in because the DOJ decided not to suit up since it was only a WHITE buffalo...

I've met Randy briefly when I was working in that part of the world and still stumping for Republicans, and he is a good guy. I imagine he's taking this seriously.

It's a big hairy deal to some cultures/religions.

I honestly don’t understand why DHS is involved.

I can’t think of a reason why people would kill it other than just senseless killin or someone objected to people considering the animal sacred.

obviously because they want to be involved. They are pretending that the killing was perhaps a “terrorist” attack. Just like they pretend whenever they want to take control of anything.

I understand.
Heck this is the land of "Cowboy" Churches.

What I don't understand is why DHS is involved.

I could almost understand DOJ getting involved “hate crime” (I dont agree with the notion, but I could see it) But DHS? WTF!!?

It's long and complicated. The Ghost Dance was the reason for Wounded Knee. The Lakota consider the White Buffalo sacred, and required for a world reset.

This has been going on since the 1800s.

As I said, it's a big deal for some folks, on both sides of the issue.

The only thing I can think of is that is is Lakota nation business. That makes it 'international' in scope.

“...required for a world reset.”

What does that mean? All white people die?

If I knew what 'purify the world' meant, I'd have a PhD. I'm just reporting what I've observed and been told. I'm a cook that was married to a Cherokee for a while.

Folks were killed over the Ghost Dance religious observance at Wounded Knee, so this is nothing new, and actually somewhat milder. No wimmen or children were killed.

All I'm trying to say is that for some folks it is a big hairy deal.

and a lot of folks invested in making sure that doesn't happen

could you shed some light on that? your posts are so vague as to be pretty useless to those of us without the secret knowledge.

Can't shed light that I don't have. I was married for some years to a Cherokee, and heard the stories, saw the rituals, etc... But understand it? No.

But I do know it is very important to some.

I don’t understand the Indian Nations, but the Lakota clearly thought the white buffalo was sacred
