Rick Santorum Backs Richard Mourdock in Indiana Senate Race By Shushannah Walshe | ABC OTUS News

Rick Santorum has weighed in on the fierce primary battle in the Indiana senate race. The former presidential candidate tweeted his support of State Treasurer Richard Mourdock over longtime Sen. Dick Lugar. @RickSantorum: I encourage Hoosiers to help GOTV for @RichardMourdock. If I lived in Indiana he'd have my vote in Tuesday's #INSen race.

Lugar has held the seat since 1976, but Tea Party favorite Richard Mourdock is waging a serious challenge and is leading in state polls. Mourdock also has the backing of anti-tax stalwart Grover Norquist, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann.

Lugar is endorsed by Arizona Sen. John McCain and Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels.

Unlike his support of John Bruning in the Nebraska senate race, which Santorum announced via press release Thursday, his backing of Mourdock was a much more under the radar affair with just the tweet of support.

Santorum has said campaigning for and supporting conservatives in House and Senate races will be part of his next venture since leaving the GOP presidential primary.

I want to wake up Wednesday morning and find that Dick Lugar has been defeated. This would just make my day.

Took a dive in 2008, because like Luger he wants to die in his senate seat. An old ham who won’t give up the limelight. No one over the age of 80 should sit in the Senate.

Where’s Newt Gingrich on this important conservative race?

Maybe he is silent so he can pick up more Freddie Mac contracts. Maybe he is afraid the GOPe will withhold future contacts if he sides with Mourdock vs the GOPe candidate Lugar. Newt’s silence speaks volumes.

But, of course, Newtbots here will tell you that Santorum is no better than Romney.

Newtbots all fell over the cliff. He took them all for quite a ride and his quixotic campaign gave us Romney.

I thought Newt was a Tea Party guy. U know, a different guy from the one that supported Dede in NY23. Hoffman was really the pre Tea Party candidate. Newt supported Dede.

I thought Tea party candidates were supposed to support other credible Tea Party candidates. Maybe Newt is still a GOPe man, so he can get some more GOPe contracts.

Palin and Bachmann have already come out to support Mourdock.

Tells you pretty much what you need to know about McCain.

Tells you more about Daniels.

I was wondering why state-controlled media was pushing him.

Actually, I took it as a hint.

Sweater Vest wresting lawyer endorsed Arlen Specter, you know, the guy that switched parties and was the deciding vote in the Senate for Obamacare.

He's a degenerate coward snake in the grass who took Romney money to stay in the race long enough to take out Gingrich, wouldn't even run in his own home state because he would lose (real Presidential material there) and is now making pretend he is Tea Party.

And the gullible continue to be gullible.

Why has Newt been AWOL on Mourdocks endorsement?

Unlike Romney, I thought Newt presented himself as a Tea Party Guy. So why hasn’t he endorsed Mourdock, a CREDIBLE Tea Party candidate.

No problem. Just google palin, Bachmann, Mourdock.

Palin endorsed Mourdock about 5 hours before a Major GOPe Super-Pac pulled their ads for Lugar.
