Traffic Stop Highlights Arizona Law [Obama's Immigration Detains Woman for 3 days]
Wall Street Journal ^ | 5/5/12 | Miriam Jordan

A week after Supreme Court arguments over Arizona's illegal-immigration law, the arrest, detention and subsequent release of an undocumented woman following a traffic stop added a real-world example to the courtroom debate about how the statute could play out.

Araceli Mercado Sanchez, who is married to an American soldier and is in the process of legalizing her U.S. residency, was pulled over Tuesday for making an illegal turn, and sent to immigration authorities when she couldn't produce a driver's license or Social Security card requested by a sheriff's deputy. Federal authorities released her late Thursday after she had spent two nights in detention.

So Obama's lame ass immigration authorities held this lady longer than normal, and the liberals are going to try and blame the LAW.

I'd also like to add that this lady DID NOT have the proper papers...and she should have had them.

Also from this article, this outrageous fact:

Following the court hearings, the Obama administration announced illegal immigrants wouldn't be place in deportation proceedings merely for a traffic violation [choosing instead] to devote resources to deporting foreigners who have committed serious crimes.

So according to the Clown, being here ILLEGALLY isn't a serious crime. Got that?

Like those “traffic violations” when people are killed by illegals driving while loaded, etc.

She was driving without a drivers license. Who knows if she knows the traffic rules. Apparently she doesn’t because she was picked up. Immigrations did their usual outstanding job.

She probably doesn't have a dependent ID, either. They have been married for 4 years and just submitted paperwork for her to get legal status in March. Sounds like they were in a panic because he was going on deployment.

Even in the article they admit she is an illegal alien, and that she drives without a license. It surprises me that they held her anyway, usually they kick loose mothers for "humanitarian reasons"

Let's see:

Married four years and finally filed with immigration two months ago...
No drivers license...
Illegal turn (possibly endangering others)...
Hubby is irate and quotes: "We know it's illegal for her to drive without a driver's license. But how can she run errands, buy food and baby diapers?"...

Smart is not a strong family trait.

I hope she at least got a couple of tickets for her efforts.

Throw the book at her on the driving offenses, but as the wife of a US military, I don’t mind if she stays.

All the foul-ups were made by the feds so how does this apply to the Arizona law? And in case there are cries of profiling:
Her husband said from Germany: "We know it's illegal for her to drive without a driver's license."

Why is she driving without a driver’s license?

These are the problems with illegal aliens, they cannot be responsible citizens like the rest of us must be.

If she is driving without a license , she is also driving without insurance, as Insurance doesn’t cover driving without a permit.

If she doesn’t know not to kakeillegal turns she dosn’t belong driving anyway.

If my wife was caught driving with no license, no insurance,no ID, and even being a legal resident she would probably get locked up too, until someone showed up with her ID

Married FOUR years...

Wonder where the US soldier and the illegal alien met...

apparantly he already knew before this overseas assignmernt that he was married to a woman who was breaking the US laws...

As an enabler he also is guilty of breaking immigration laws...

I have no sympathy for him, soldier or not...

"being here ILLEGALY isn't a serious crime"

Illegal entry is a misdemeanor and most don't consider misdemeanors serious. But, illegal entry is punishable by fines, jail, or deportation, but usually they are offered the option of self deportation because that is much cheaper for the govt.

Visa overstay is not a criminal infraction, but it is a civil infraction punishable by fines, jail, or deportion.

And her arrest for driving without a license is pending, yes?

...

...

Didn’t think so. No license, no insurance, if she were American, she’d be in serious trouble and would be glad to get off with just two days in detention.

Her husband said from Germany: "We know it's illegal for her to drive without a driver's license. But how can she run errands, buy food and baby diapers? When I was there, I was doing that."

So, why didn't she have a driver's license, then? If you knew better?

The lady didn't get in trouble because she was illegal, she got in trouble because she had no proof of identity -- no DL, no SS card. And anybody who makes an illegal left turn and is caught without any proof of identity is going to end up in jail.

These Mexican hoes get our boys to knock them up left and right, so they get to stay forever. I have personally seen this MANY times.

If a Mexican ho can marry a US service man and stay married, she’s welcome here, as far as I am concerned.

Service member or not, he's an idiot.

There are things called cabs and buses. You might even have a friend or relative to help out.

I wonder if he can get in trouble for knowingly harboring an illegal alien?

“is in the process of legalizing her U.S. residency”

Translation: Here illegally and waiting for her INS attorney to try to get her permanent residency.

It's puzzling since she would've needed ID to get married in AZ: "You will be required to provide a government issued photo I.D. such as a driver's license to show proof of age and confirm identity."

I didn't read the full story carefully but under AZ law, the vehicle should've been impounded.

He should be looked at very carefully.
