Gary Johnson Wins Libertarian Nod

Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson is campaigning to win the White House as a Libertarian after receiving scant attention in the Republican presidential race.

Johnson easily became the party's presidential nominee at the Libertarian national convention in Las Vegas on Saturday.

He hopes to appeal to voters fed up with the traditional two-party system this November.

Their best bet is to reach an entente with the Tea Party, over issues of mutual agreement, and run on those in areas dominated by entrenched liberals of both parties.

By working for mutual goals in the campaign, neither side has to abandon its principals, just back-burner the more contentious ones to concentrate on the mutually popular ones.

Well, the only question now is what fraction of 1% of the vote Gary will get.

I’m going to go with .4%. Not quite the 1980 high water mark of 1.1%, but not too shabby for a 3rd party outing.

The wise thing to do is encourage as many write in a 3rd party voters as possible to get to the polls. If nothing else, they can help save the down ticket races where it matters most of all.

Well, I'll probably vote 3rd party this time, but Smokin' Gary ain't on my list. I guess it's Virgil Goode in the Constitution Party.

That, or intentionally vote for the re-election of The Usurper so that the economic collapse of America happens on his watch.

And he will definitely need your help. In the 2008 election cycle the Constitution Party just barely edged out Cynthia McKinney and the Green Party. It was a close call, but team Constitution seized .15% of the vote which was enough to sneak past the Green's .12% of the vote and vault them into 5th place!

It’s tacky to run for one party’s nomination and then take another in the same election cycle.

Alan Keyes is the king of that tackiness. In 2008, in a single year, he ran in the Republican Party primary and could not get the result that he lusted for, so he ran in the Constitution Party primary and could not get the result that he lusted for, so he formed his own party and ran as it’s candidate, he did not even get 48,000 votes.
