Endorsements of Mitt Romney remain tepid
The Los Angeles Times ^ | May 6, 2012 | Seema Mehta and Maeve Reston

PITTSBURGH — Rick Santorum dropped his presidential bid nearly a month ago, so his meeting here Friday with presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney would have seemed like the perfect opportunity to offer Romney his endorsement.

But even before the 90-minute meeting took place, everyone knew that no such nod would be coming anytime soon. Santorum, like pretty much everyone else who has run in the Republican presidential contest, has embraced the party's standard-bearer with a stiff arm. Of course they will work to defeat President Obama, they say. Yet few have been willing to get behind their party's winner with anything approaching enthusiasm.

When he dropped out of the race last week, Newt Gingrich damned Romney with faint praise, saying that he was no Ronald Reagan and then reiterating in an interview that he thought Romney was a liar. Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota got around to endorsing Romney on Thursday, a full four months after she dropped out. And some of the hottest stars in the party avoided weighing in until the race was a foregone conclusion — notably Sen. Marco Rubio and former Gov. Jeb Bush, Floridians whose nods would have meant far more before the state held its crucial primary in January.

That depends on how you define winning. If winning means getting the most delegates then Paul has won. If winning means trusting the MSM when they say such and such won then no Paul hasn’t won.

If the Mittster is the GOPe nominee, this will be the first election I didn't vote for the Republican candidate for President.

Yes, obama is the worst and most radical White House occupier in our nation's history and the Mittster would very likely be much better for us financially.

Maybe I'll find some reason to change my mind before November, but for now? If you want Mitt, YOU vote for him. I don't, so I won't.

Every election it's the same GOPe schpeal: "Vote for us to keep them out." In 2008, McCain finally broke their decades long spell on me!

McCain set me free from the rino paradigm!! It doesn't work on me any more!

In fact, now it has the opposite effect. Now I can't knowingly vote for a GOPe rino. (Being true to oneself feels much better!)

Still stuck in the paradigm, I see.

Nice try, but it doesn't work on me...

No more voting for the GOPe!

The GOPe has had numerous opportunities throughout these last four years, including vetting, to do something about obama.

They have failed their Constitutional duties as legislators to do what you claim to want done.

And you want me to keep voting for them?

We apparently define "traitorous" differently.

The GOP-e has been absolutely delighted with what’s happening in DC the last four years...especially as they now look forward to playing with all the new toys in the White House Obama bought.

I was where you are throughout the 2008 election.

Everything you can think of to persuade me, I've already used.

The McCain experience cleared my head and I see the GOPe differently now.

Once that mask has been lifted and your vision adjusts to the light, you can't trick your eyes to see things the old way again.

I could not agree more. But some credible candidates must step up to the plate, to give Tennnesseans a choice.
Until that happens we are stuck.
The short-term good news is:
If Lugar does go down in Indiana, these Senate Moderates will be in full panic mode.

My son convinced me that if I would not vote for R or O, it is best TO MAKE a RECORDED VOTE for another party’s Presidential/Vice Presidential candidates (i.e. Constitution Party)...to have my opposition votes recorded and reported.

There are legitimate reasons for not voting R or O. Your post, a personal attack, is not in the spirit of JimRob’s request for a FR truce on this subject.

Please help by presenting practical ideas on FR and not just your emotions. I’m trying also.

Clear enough for you?

Abso-frikin-lutely!

Amen brother...or sis.

This bears repeating though it was aimed at another delusional, demented and disultory ranting of poster Waywardson--"Why Christians and Patriots CANNOT vote for Mitt Romney (Vanity)"-- (sorry, fellow Freeper, I calls them as I sees em') but bears repeating for him/her as well as all others who THINK that abstaining from voting for Mittens (or if by some miracle) someone else who might be the R Candidate, will be BETTER than allowing the BOTTOM-FEEDING, TRAITOROUS, RAT-BASTURD, NEO-COMMIE, HATE-AMERICA, DEAR LEADER to be re-elected who we KNOW will work diligently to finish what he has started....the SURRENDER of Nation and the DESTRUCTION of our Republic as we know it.

I am a Gulf War I era veteran. Have you served? Waywardson

Pray tell Waywardson, (as you want to frame your argument in terms of Christianity, pun applies) what does one having served have to do with one's opinion or "Patriotism?"

YES I'M SCREAMING (doubly so by CAPPING AND BOLDING) and screaming mad at your madness.

BTW, thank you for your service, but as I also served (18 months in Nam) I guess I get equal time and my "Patriotism" will not be questioned?"

Thus I throw this up to you: When I took the oath of enlistment ("I, (NAME), DO SOLEMNLY SWEAR (OR AFFIRM) THAT I WILL SUPPORT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES AGAINST ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC; THAT I WILL BEAR TRUE FAITH AND ALLEGIANCE TO THE SAME; AND THAT I WILL OBEY THE ORDERS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES AND THE ORDERS OF THE OFFICERS APPOINTED OVER ME, ACCORDING TO REGULATIONS AND THE UNIFORM CODE OF MILITARY JUSTICE. SO HELP ME GOD." ) I considered it a solemn pledge FOR LIFE and not simply for the 8 years I served.

Was that the same for you?

If so, HOW can you possibly NOT oppose the (SELF-ADMITTED and PROVEN) "Domestic Enemy" who presently occupies the Oval Office; has shown a willingness to appease/defend/support "Foreign Enemies" (ISLAMIC JIHADISTS) as well as working diligently to DESTROY our Great Republic.....

...and NOT do everything humanly possible to ensure he does not get a chance to complete his Marxist/Commie/Islamic agenda which no doubt he will if re-elected....

...even if that means compromising your so called "ethics" and "morals" by if not supporting and voting for Mittens (your choice and right)....

....at least NOT encouraging others to do the same, KNOWING the outcome will be disastrous for Amerika, yet apparently, no giving a damn about the consequences?

HOW can one possibly equate Mitt's moderate/liberal record (as bad as it admittedly is) with Dear Leader's proven one?

Your are putting a lot of stock in our retaining control of the house and even long shot odds of taking the Senate.

Be that as it may, based upon the FASCIST, Neo-Commie's proclivities to ignore the Constitution, Congress and even the SCOTUS, do you think for one moment a Republican-Controlled Congress will stop him for "RULING" by fiat, diktakes and Executive Orders?

WHO WILL STOP HIM?

The wuss RINO's (such as the Weeper of the House, Bone-er or Mitch--"Afraid of his own shadow and RINO extraordinaire"--McConnell?) or maybe the Supreme Court?

Yeah, right!

I put it all on the line to defend my country and love it too much to see it destroyed and I'll crawl over broken glass to vote for anyone who will oppose (and hopefully prevail, thereby removing this "threat") in November;....

....it is either that or I foresee having to put it all on the line again (LITERALLY) in fighting to save our Republic if O'Bummer is re-elected, and though I'm willing and able if push comes to shove, I'm getting a little long in the tooth to want to consider that option.

Do as you will or your conscience dictates; if you have a "death wish" be my guest and don't vote, but PLEASE refrain from using Christianity, Patriotism and phony "maybe and perhaps" scenarios we "might" expect to experience under an Romney Administration based upon his past record.

Governing a State is different than governing a Country

As bad as Boosh was, and as big a RINO as he was, and as much as I hated many of the policies and programs he advanced and supported, he NEVER set out to DESTROY the United States and I am CONVINCED, neither would Romney.

CAN YOU SAY THE SAME FOR BARRY, BARACK, HUSSEIN, SOETORO, OBAMA?

Case closed: Class dismissed!!!

I hope so, lamar never gets back to his constituents, corker on occasion. Tried to report Medicare/Tricare Life fraud to his Medicare rep, and have had NO return phone calls in 3 weeks. I do not leave messages on machines. Made the answer girl put a not on his desk. Going through the FDA or the Medicare sites are a nightmare. The doc is very well politically connected both state and federal from demrats. He is going to kill some senior one of these days with his shady practices.

Going through the useless socialist cohen is a joke.
